A working quote for a working rug
Tell us the size and what the rug puts up with, kids, dog, the lot. We inspect before we wash, put a firm figure on it, and if our honest view is that the rug does not warrant professional washing, you hear that instead of a sales pitch.

The Murarrie pickup made it realistic to finally clean the synthetic rug. The old stains are much softer now, and the colours look cleaner in daylight. The rug feels like it belongs in the room again. We are in Murarrie, so having it collected made the job much easier.

Rug Cleaning Murarrie, a Suburb That Knows Process
Queensport first, Murarrie after
Before it was Murarrie this riverbank was Queensport, and in 1881 the Queensland Freezing and Food Export Company sent the colony's first refrigerated meat shipment from its wharf here. Borthwick's followed in 1907, Swift's in 1914, and for a century the suburb worked with its hands.
Honest houses, working rugs
The houses tell the same story: honest timber and fibro from the 1940s and 50s, plenty of it originally housing commission, now being renovated street by street by young families priced out of Bulimba and Hawthorne, with townhouses filling the gaps. Rugs here are working furniture, one or two mid-size pieces living hard over polished boards or new hybrid floors.
A suburb with that history can pick a real process from a spray-and-go, so here is ours.
Our process, plainly
Your rug rides the Gateway from the on-ramp inside Murarrie to our Yatala facility, where it is washed by hand in full immersion, the same unhurried method we have used for 29 years, IICRC certified. River-flat air matters too: the low ground holds damp mornings most of the year, wool takes that moisture up slowly and lets it go even slower, and must and odour start long before anything shows. The bath removes what the air left behind, controlled drying locks the result in, and the rug comes home ready for the next round of family life.

What our driver passes in Murarrie
A river beach, twin bridges and a wharf that changed Queensland's export trade.
The riverside park at 152 Colmslie Road with a sandy river beach and a giant climbable concrete fish.
River mud, sandpit feet and a wet dog all end their afternoon on the same living room rug, and that rug is a regular on our Murarrie pickup list.
The reserve runs a boardwalk down to a small river beach, sheltered barbecues, a flying fox, a scooter track and an off-leash dog park with its own agility course. The playground landmark is a huge concrete fish half-buried in the sand, entered through the mouth and exited through the gills. Worth knowing: this reserve is in Murarrie, while the Colmslie Aquatic Centre that shares the name sits over the boundary in Morningside.
The twin Gateway bridges, Brisbane's easternmost river crossing, landing on the Murarrie bank.
Those bridges are the reason a Murarrie pickup is one of the easiest we run anywhere: minutes from your door the rug is at highway speed, half an hour later it is at Yatala.
The original Gateway Bridge opened on 11 January 1986 after a $92 million build, and its $350 million twin joined it in May 2010, the pair renamed for Sir Leo Hielscher that year. Their long concrete arcs carry the motorway over Quarries Reach between Eagle Farm and Murarrie and form the backdrop to half the suburb's streets.
The riverbank neighbourhood where Queensland's first refrigerated meat export left the wharf in 1881.
A hundred and forty years of hands-on work built this suburb's standards, and they suit us fine: every rug we take from Murarrie is washed step by step by people who have done nothing else for 29 years.
The Queensland Freezing and Food Export Company opened its Queensport works on this bank in 1881 and shipped the colony's first refrigerated meat the same year. Thomas Borthwick and Sons arrived in 1907, and the Swift abattoir of 1914 grew into one of the state's largest industrial operations. The meatworks are gone, but Queensport Road and the working riverfront keep the name in daily use.

Quick answers for Murarrie households
How much does rug cleaning in Murarrie cost?
Every quote is set after inspection, based on size, fibre and what the rug has absorbed. The figure is locked before any washing begins, and when a rug does not justify the outlay, you hear it from us before any money moves.
We only have one rug and it was not expensive. Do you still take it?
Of course. Plenty of Murarrie pickups are a single family rug, and a proper wash is often what decides whether it lasts another five years. The inspection tells us, and you, what it deserves.
Which nearby suburbs share the Murarrie run?
Cannon Hill, Morningside, Tingalpa and Hemmant all sit on the same weekly loop. If a neighbour or family member adds a rug to your pickup, every rug beyond the first comes off $20 in price.
How fast can we have the rug back?
The standard cycle is 7 days door to door. If you need it sooner there is a 48-hour express option for an additional charge, worth asking about when you book.
And if something still is not right afterwards?
Say so within 48 hours of the rug landing back home and it returns to the bath at no cost. That guarantee has stood for years because it almost never gets used.
Our first dog has not been kind to our first good rug. Urine and all, fixable?
Nearly always. Urine binds into the foundation where surface products cannot reach, and full immersion washing flushes it out completely, odour included. We test the dyes first, dry the rug through the core, and tell you honestly if an old accident has left any permanent mark.
