One form, one inspection, one honest price
Capalaba does not do fuss and neither do we. Size, fibre, what happened, send it through. The rug gets inspected before we name a figure, and if it is not worth washing we tell you to keep your money.

This was one of those jobs I kept delaying, mostly because the jute rug was too awkward to fit in the car. Pickup and delivery were included, and it came back ready for the bedroom.

Rug Cleaning in Capalaba, Minus the Drama
The practical centre of the Redlands
Capalaba is where Old Cleveland Road crosses Tingalpa Creek and Brisbane turns into Redland City, and it has been the district's practical centre since the Leslie Harrison Dam guaranteed the water that let it grow. The homes are solid 1980s and 90s brick and tile, the floors are mostly tiled, and the standard setup is one big rug, two dogs and a ute in the drive. The name supposedly means place of possums; from where we stand it is more a place of dogs.
A rug over tile hides its dirt well.
What hides under a rug on tile
Creek-corridor damp, bushland pollen off the reserves, dander and the occasional accident all build quietly until the smell announces them.
Thirty minutes down Mount Cotton Road
The cure is not a product from aisle five, it is immersion washing done properly at Yatala, which sits about 30 minutes down Mount Cotton Road, closer to Capalaba than most of Brisbane realises. The rug comes home fully dry, usually in about a week. Your rug passes the dam twice, once dirty and once clean.

The Capalaba we cross every week
Three places that explain the suburb, all within minutes of our regular route.
The Redlands' environmental education centre on 14.5 hectares of bushland at Runnymede Road.
IndigiScapes families are bush-trail regulars, and trail dust plus a dog in the car is a rug combination we collect from Capalaba homes every week.
IndigiScapes is Redland City Council's environmental hub, set on 14.5 hectares of natural bushland with native botanical gardens, a native plant nursery, bush trails and a nature playground. The cafe leans into local produce with a bush tucker twist, and the centre runs education programs on native habitat and sustainable living that pull visitors from across the city.
The dam on Tingalpa Creek that made modern Capalaba possible, holding 13,200 megalitres at full supply.
The dam sits on our direct route between Capalaba and the Yatala facility, so Capalaba rugs ride one of the shortest legs in our Brisbane fleet.

Built across Tingalpa Creek between 1964 and 1968 and upgraded in 1984, Leslie Harrison Dam supplies around 20 per cent of Redland City's drinking water from an 87 square kilometre catchment. Its completion gave the district a reliable supply for the first time and set off the growth that turned Capalaba from a creek crossing into the Redlands' commercial centre. The surrounding nature refuge holds koala habitat and quiet bush.
The creek-side park network at Capalaba's western edge, beside the historic ford where the old Cleveland track crossed.
The park streets nearby are core Capalaba pickup territory, and creek-walk mud plus family traffic is exactly what our wash floor sees off these rugs.
Capalaba Regional Park runs along Tingalpa Creek with John Fredericks Park and the Sciacca sportsfields beside it and Tingalpa Creek Reserve on the far bank. Just here is the Rocks Crossing, a listed local heritage place marking the rocky ford where the early track from Brisbane to Cleveland crossed the creek, first surveyed by James Warner back in 1841. The reserve trails on both banks are popular with walkers and mountain bikers.

Capalaba rug cleaning, asked and answered
Why can't I just hose the rug on the driveway?
You can, but the rug will hold soap, stay wet at the core for days, and often smell worse than before. Wool needs its wash water controlled and its drying managed, otherwise damp settles in the backing and mould follows. That is the whole reason immersion facilities exist.
How close is your facility to Capalaba?
About 30 minutes down Mount Cotton Road at Yatala, past the Leslie Harrison Dam. It is one of the shortest legs we drive in Brisbane, which keeps Capalaba turnarounds comfortably inside the standard week.
Do you service the rest of the Redlands from here?
Yes. Alexandra Hills, Birkdale, Cleveland, Thornlands and Sheldon all book onto the loop that runs through Capalaba, and rugs from different households can share it. Every rug beyond the first in one booking saves $20.
The rug looks fine but smells off. Worth washing?
That smell is the rug telling you what is under the pile: damp, dander and old spills a vacuum cannot touch. A wash resets it. If we inspect it and think washing is a waste of your money, we say exactly that.
Can I get it back faster than a week?
Yes, the 48 hour express runs for an additional charge. Standard jobs take about seven days, and either way you are covered by the free re-wash guarantee after delivery.
Two dogs, one rug. Can you really get the smell out?
Yes, because we remove the cause rather than masking it. Dander, oils and urine all settle below the pile, and a full immersion wash at Yatala flushes them from the foundation. The rug dries right through before it comes home, so the smell has nothing to restart from.
