The rug off the boards, quoted straight
Plenty of Wynnum rugs reach our truck after a renovation, when freshly polished boards make an old wool piece look tired by comparison. Often a proper wash is all it needs. Our driver looks the rug over at pickup, says so plainly if washing will not help, and quotes a firm price before anything leaves the street.

We sent the lounge rug in because the sand was sitting deep in the fibres. They explained why a proper wash would do more than vacuuming. It came back softer and no longer crunchy underfoot.

Why Rug Washing Wynnum Means Full Immersion
The town that ran its own show
Wynnum has run its own show since the 1880s. Bay Terrace and Edith Street still trade as a proper high street, three stations on the Cleveland line move the commuters, and the hill behind the shoreline is stacked with classic Queenslanders and interwar timber bungalows. Many are held by the families that raised them; many more have just been opened up and repolished by newcomers chasing the bay view.
Facing the open bay has a cost the eye cannot see.
Bare boards put the rugs to work
Either way the floors are timber, the boards are bare, and the rugs do real work in every room, catching the traffic and softening the house. A town that has kept a jetty in service since 1884 understands the arithmetic of maintenance, and it applies to wool exactly as it applies to timber pilings: look after the thing properly and it outlasts every replacement you might have bought.
The invoice the sea breeze writes
Salt travels on the sea breeze most of the year, summer humidity settles in for months at a time, and a timber house breathes all of it through its rooms. Wool pile takes up the moisture along with fine salt and grit off the breeze, and none of that vacuums out. Full immersion washing at our Yatala facility is the fix: dyes tested, the rug washed by hand, rinsed until the water runs clear, then dried under control so it lands back on the boards with no dampness left to find.

Where your rug is washed
Three Wynnum institutions
A jetty, a beach and a footy ground, each one part of how this suburb lives.
The landmark over the flats, standing where jetties have stood since 1884.
A suburb that has kept the same jetty serviceable for 140 years understands maintenance. Wynnum applies that logic to its rugs, and we supply the washing that makes it work.
Local landowner Andrew Keating built the first timber jetty here in 1884 and a longer public jetty followed in 1889. The structure has been rebuilt and extended ever since, at one point stretching 360 metres and carrying a bathing enclosure that ran men's and women's swimming on separate days in the early 1900s. It remains the signature of the shoreline and the best sunset walk on this side of the bay.
The man-made family beach beside the jetty, built in 1987 from Stradbroke Island sand.
Beach afternoons finish on the living room rug, and sand, sunscreen and wet towels grind in fast. Those are the rugs Wynnum hands us, and they come back from Yatala washed through and smelling of nothing at all.
The sand was barged across from Stradbroke Island in 1987 and the pandanus palms along the edge gave the beach its name. The slope is so gentle the water sits about waist deep even at high tide, which is why every warm weekend fills it with small children and their parents.
Where the Seagulls grew up, and where the junior club still fills winter Saturdays.
Junior footy houses are hard on floors: boots at the door, kit in the hall, a rug that cops the lot. The driver takes it rolled from the front step, and the $20 off each extra rug covers the rest of the house.
Wynnum Manly rugby league played at Kitchener Park from the club's post-war rebirth in 1951 until the seniors moved to their own ground in 1967. The juniors never left, and the Wynnum Manly Junior Rugby League Club still runs teams here every winter, feeding the same pathway that has produced Queensland and Australian representatives.

Wynnum rug questions, answered straight
Can you collect from the Wynnum hill if nobody is home?
Yes. Leave the rug rolled somewhere dry, the veranda or behind the gate, and tell us where to look. The driver collects it on the bayside day and returns it to the same spot when it comes home.
Is a proper wash worth it on an older rug?
Sometimes no, and we say so. If a rug's foundation is past the point where washing helps, you hear that before you spend a dollar. Most older wool pieces, though, come up far better than their owners expect.
What does rug cleaning cost in Wynnum?
Price depends on size, fibre and condition, quoted firmly once we sight the rug and never revised afterwards. Pickup and delivery add nothing, and every rug beyond the first is $20 lighter on the invoice.
Do you cover Manly, Lota and Wynnum West as well?
All three ride the same weekly bayside run, along with Manly West and Hemmant close by. One booking can take in rugs from more than one house if the family is spread across the district.
How long is the rug away, and what if something is wrong?
Seven days is the normal cycle, or a 48-hour express for an additional charge. If the result disappoints in any way, say so within the first 48 hours after the rug lands back home and we rewash it free.
Does pet urine come out of a rug, or just get masked for a while?
It comes out, if you remove it where it lives. Urine soaks through pile into the body of the rug, and every product sprayed on top only argues with the surface. Our wash immerses the whole rug so the source dissolves and rinses away. When an accident has taken dye with it, we show you at inspection rather than promise a miracle.
