A plain price for a proper wash
Old cottage wool and new estate synthetics are different washes at different prices, so we inspect before we quote. Whatever the number is, it is the number, and it includes the driver both ways.

We had put this off for ages, mostly because the hallway runner was too awkward to fit in the car. Pickup and delivery were included, and it came back ready for the bedroom.

Rug Washing in Hemmant, Where the Dust Is Different
Two Hemmants, one street apart
Hemmant has worked for its living since the 1870s, meatworks and freezing works first, river industry after, and the suburb still splits along that history: workers' cottages and post-war timber homes around the station, semi-industrial frontages along the flats, and townhouse estates filling the old paddocks with young families.
The rugs split the same way
The rugs split the same way, long-serving wool on cottage boards and hardworking synthetics over new polished concrete. What unites them is the dust.
The working corridor lays down a particulate that settles fine, dark and deep, greying a rug faster than quiet streets ever would, and low river flats hold humidity that binds it into the pile.
Removal, not redistribution
Surface cleaning moves it around; our full immersion wash at Yatala removes it, rinsing until the water runs clear and drying the rug through before it comes home. With the Gateway minutes away, Hemmant is one of the fastest collection legs we run.

Three pieces of Hemmant history on our route
An 1889 aquarium, an 1874 cemetery and a railway station: Hemmant is older than it looks.
The quiet channel named for the aquarium and pleasure garden that opened here in 1889.
The old streets between the station and the passage are core Hemmant territory for us, cottage rugs that respond to a first proper wash like nothing else on the run.
The venture at the end of what became Aquarium Avenue ran six large glass fish tanks, a penguin enclosure, performing seals, a dance hall and a switch-back railway. It did not last long, but the name did, and the passage settled into a second life as a mooring for small boats and houseboats.
A Victorian-style mortuary park gazetted in 1874, among Brisbane's oldest burial grounds still in use.
Hemmant families go back generations, and so do some of their rugs; the inherited wool pieces we hand wash from these streets often outdate the houses around them.
Gazetted in March 1874 with burials from the following year, the cemetery was laid out as a Victorian mortuary park and now records five generations of the district, Commonwealth war graves included. Its older headstones read like a roll call of the meatworks and farming families who built the east.
The Cleveland line stop that first carried trains through Hemmant in 1889.
Station-precinct cottages are where an honest assessment earns its keep: we tell owners plainly whether the decades-old rug in the front room justifies a wash, and it usually does.
The railway arrived in 1889 to serve the freezing works and river industries, with a permanent station in place by 1914. It still ties the suburb to both the city and the bayside, and the streets around it hold Hemmant's oldest surviving homes.

Hemmant rug cleaning in plain terms
Why does our rug turn grey so fast here?
The working corridor around Hemmant produces a fine, dark airborne dust that settles deep into pile, and river-flat humidity binds it there. Vacuuming lifts the loose top layer only. Full immersion washing at our Yatala facility strips the lot, which is why the colour change after a wash surprises people.
Is the old rug from Nan's place worth doing?
Bring it to the inspection and we will tell you honestly. Cottage-era wool was usually well made and washes back beautifully; when a rug is too far gone we say so before you spend anything.
What do you charge for pickup in Hemmant?
Nothing. The Gateway is minutes away, Hemmant sits right on our eastern run, and the rolled rug is carried both ways by our driver at no cost.
Do you cover Murarrie and Tingalpa on this run?
Yes, plus Wynnum West and Lytton on the same leg. Multiple rugs collected together each earn $20 off after the first, which suits multi-generation Hemmant families well.
How long does the wash take, start to finish?
About 7 days door to door as standard. A 48-hour express service is there for an additional cost if you are up against a date.
Puppy accidents soaked into the new townhouse rug. Fixable?
Almost always. Urine settles into the backing where surface cleaners cannot follow, so we flush it out in full immersion instead, then dry the rug right through. If repeated accidents have reached the dye we tell you before washing, not after.
