AS/NZS 3733:1995 – Textile Floor Coverings

Premier Rug Cleaning Services operates under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld), which requires businesses to protect workers and others from harm so far as is reasonably practicable. We recognise our primary duty of care as a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU), and we implement systems to identify hazards, assess risks, and apply effective controls for all rug cleaning activities undertaken on client premises and in our facilities. This includes safe systems of work for manual handling, use of machinery, and handling and storage of cleaning substances.
We provide workers with information, instruction, training, and supervision so they can perform cleaning tasks safely, use equipment correctly, and respond appropriately to incidents or near‑misses. Our procedures emphasise consultation with workers about health and safety matters, incident reporting, and continuous improvement, consistent with the Act’s focus on cooperation and issue resolution. We also monitor workplace conditions and worker health in relation to our operations, such as exposure to noise, slips and trips, and contact with chemicals, with the goal of preventing injury and illness. Environmental and Chemical Safety
Premier Rug Cleaning Services is committed to responsible environmental and chemical safety practices in line with Australian regulatory expectations and industry guidance on cleaning chemicals. We select cleaning agents that are fit for purpose, follow manufacturer instructions for dilution and contact times, and avoid unnecessary or excessive use of chemicals. All products are stored, labelled, and handled in accordance with workplace health and safety and environmental protection requirements, including attention to any hazardous properties and required personal protective equipment.
Our technicians are trained to prevent chemical misuse, including not mixing incompatible products and ensuring adequate ventilation during application, particularly when using stronger disinfectants or oxidising agents. Wastewater from carpet and rug extraction is disposed of through appropriate sewer or trade‑waste pathways where permitted, and never discharged into stormwater systems, in line with environmental protection principles. Unused or expired chemicals are managed as hazardous waste and sent to suitable facilities where required, rather than being poured down sinks or drains.
