Priced upfront for the boards' best rugs
Give us the rug's size and a line about how it has been living. Every piece is inspected before it goes near water, and if a wash will not repay what the rug is worth, we tell you that instead of taking the job.

I did not want to risk making the lounge rug worse with another home cleaner. After a few years in the lounge, the lounge rug needed more than a surface clean. The rug looks like it belongs in the room again.

Rug Washing Morningside: Old Boards, Good Rugs
Station-strip streets, sanded floors
Morningside has been on Brisbane's map since the 1880s, when the railway station first anchored the shopping strip, and its streets still carry the housing that followed: interwar and post-war timber homes on the high ground, workers cottages near the line, townhouses filling in along Wynnum Road. Most of the older places have been opened up and their hoop pine floors sanded back, which is exactly when the rug matters most.
Wool does the daily work
Bare timber is beautiful and loud and cold in July, so the living areas run on wool, usually one decent rug per room rather than a single showpiece.
Those rugs work above floors their owners spent real money restoring, and a wet machine dragged across them in the lounge room is not a service we would put our name to.
The run and the wash
Instead your rolled rug joins the run that already covers Morningside, Bulimba and Cannon Hill each week, and it is immersion washed by hand at our Yatala facility, where 29 years of this trade and IICRC certification set the standard. Summer humidity off the Norman Creek low ground leaves wool holding moisture and odour by autumn, and the bath is the only place both truly leave. Controlled drying finishes the job, so the rug lands back on your boards dry to the backing.

Where your rug is washed
Three Morningside landmarks with borrowed names
Two of them say Balmoral and one says Colmslie, and every one of them officially sits in Morningside.
The heritage-listed timber fire station on Pashen Street, protecting the district since 1925.
A fire station kept working for a century is the local attitude in one building, and it matches ours: maintain the good rug properly and it outlives everything bought since.
Firefighters first worked from a temporary station in the existing house and sheds from June 1925, then moved into the purpose-built timber station by architects Atkinson and Conrad on 15 March 1927. A concrete pillbox air raid shelter was added beside it in 1942, and the whole site joined the Queensland Heritage Register in 1999. The name says Balmoral; the address has always been Morningside.
The heated 50 metre outdoor pool and indoor complex on Lytton Road, inside Morningside's northern edge.
Swim squad families track chlorine and wet towels across the lounge room all summer, and the rug underneath is a regular passenger on our Morningside pickups.
The centre at 400 Lytton Road runs a heated 50 metre outdoor pool, a 25 metre indoor pool, a water play park and a health club, with lap lanes, squads and learn-to-swim going most of the day. Despite the Colmslie name it sits in Morningside, in the Colmslie Recreation Reserve; the Colmslie Beach Reserve with the concrete fish is across the flats in Murarrie.
The pioneer cemetery on Wynnum Road, burying Brisbane's east side since 1874.
The families who settled this district left homes full of inherited things, and the estate rugs that reach us from Morningside get the kind of careful handling a 29 year old family business understands.
Gazetted in 1869 and receiving its first burial in 1874, the cemetery holds lieutenant governors, mayors and the district's founding families, with registers reaching back to the 1870s. In its early years it was called the Morningside or Bulimba cemetery before the Balmoral name settled in, and like the fire station up the road, its grounds sit inside Morningside.

Morningside owners ask, we answer
What does rug cleaning in Morningside cost?
It depends on size, fibre and condition, which is why every rug is inspected and quoted before washing. You get a firm number up front, and if we think the rug is not worth professional washing, we say exactly that.
Will a wet rug damage my polished timber floors when it comes back?
No, because it does not come back wet. Controlled drying at Yatala takes the rug to dry right through the backing before redelivery, so it can go straight down on the boards.
Do you collect from Bulimba, Hawthorne or Cannon Hill as well?
Yes, all three ride the same inner-east run as Morningside, along with Balmoral and Norman Park. Neighbouring households sometimes book together, since each rug after the first in a pickup is $20 cheaper.
How long is the rug away, and can that be shortened?
Standard turnaround is 7 days from pickup to return. When a deadline is looming, ask about the 48-hour express, which carries an extra charge.
What if the rug comes home and something is not right?
Check the rug once it is down and let us know inside 48 hours of it arriving home. Under the re-wash guarantee we wash it again for free, a policy 29 years of careful work has kept very quiet.
The new puppy has been using the lounge rug. Can that all come out?
Yes. Puppy urine sits in the foundation, not the pile, which is why home sprays disappoint. Full immersion washing flushes it out at the source and controlled drying stops the odour returning on humid days. Dye is tested first and any existing damage is shown to you before the wash.
