Carindale only became a suburb in 1980, carved out of Belmont and named by joining Carina to the dale of Bulimba Creek, and the master planning still shows. Controlled drying follows, so the rug returns flat, dry through the foundation, and noticeably brighter than the floor around it. The shopping centre that founded the suburb, open on Creek Road since November 1979.
The family homes in the streets behind Westfield are steady stops on our eastern pickup run, usually one large lounge rug rolled and waiting at the door.
When it opened on 14 November 1979 with about 50 specialty stores it was Brisbane's biggest shopping centre, and the December 1976 land sale that made it possible effectively created Carindale itself. A $300 million redevelopment completed in 2012 took it past 450 stores with close to 6,000 car parks.
Better known as Rocket Park, for the climbable rocket ship at the middle of its playground.
Rocket Park afternoons end up on the living room rug, sandpit feet and all, and washing that out properly at Yatala is the exact job Carindale calls us for.

Is pickup really free in Carindale?
Yes. On the scheduled eastern run the driver picks the rolled rug up from your doorstep and later returns it washed and fully dried. There is no charge either way.
My wool rug is nearly 20 years old. Is it worth washing?
Usually, and often the results surprise people. Good wool from that era was made to be washed. We inspect it first and give you an honest answer about condition and value before you commit to anything.
Do you also collect from Carina, Belmont or Mansfield?
Carina, Carina Heights, Belmont, Camp Hill and Mackenzie all share Carindale's run, and Mansfield sits with our southside loop, so a family rug from a nearby street can travel with yours. Every rug after the first in one pickup is $20 cheaper.
How many days is the rug away?
The standard turnaround is 7 days from collection. A 48-hour express service is available at an additional cost when you need the rug back for something.
What happens if I am not satisfied?
Check the rug over once it is home and contact us within 48 hours if anything bothers you. Our re-wash guarantee means we wash it again at no charge. In 29 years that policy has cost us very little, which says something.
The good wool rug caught a dog accident. Ruined?
Almost never, if it is dealt with properly. Urine needs flushing out of the foundation, and that is precisely what full immersion achieves. We test the dyes first, warn you of any risk, and dry the rug through the core so no trace of odour restarts.
