Getting the shaggy rug sorted from Carina Heights was easier than expected. The shaggy rug came back fresher, softer and ready to use again in the entry. I would use them again without overthinking it. We are in Carina Heights, so having it collected made the job much easier.

Rug Washing for Carina Heights, Old Rugs and New
Two generations on one ridge
Carina Heights was part of Carina until 1975, and its hillside streets tell the longer story: 1960s and 70s brick and timber homes where owners have stayed for decades, now mixed with young families renovating next door. That split shows up in the rugs. Both get the same treatment on the Yatala wash floor.
We collect wool pieces that have sat on the same floor since the Whitlam years alongside new rugs earning their first pet stains.
Living beside 171 hectares of bush
Living beside 171 hectares of eucalypt reserve has a cost: bush pollen and trail dust ride in year-round on kids and dogs, and no vacuum pulls them from the base of a rug's pile.
Humidity on the ridge
The ridge catches breezes the flats miss, but summer humidity still settles into backings, especially in brick homes shut up through the heat. A full immersion wash clears the lot, and the rug comes back dry through every layer, about a week after the driver takes it. For the rugs that have waited decades, the first wash is the one that shows what the colours used to be.

The Carina Heights our run climbs past
Reserve, summit and fairways: the ridge in three stops.
171 hectares of bush, lookouts and playing fields across the ridge, on the site of an early-1900s teahouse.
Reserve-side homes are on our weekly Carina Heights run, and eucalypt dust plus a dog that walks the trails daily is the exact soiling we lift out of these rugs at Yatala.
Whites Hill Reserve covers 171 hectares over the southern high ground of Carina Heights and Camp Hill, taking in walking tracks, lookouts over the city, picnic areas, a destination playground and playing fields that host touch football, cricket and soccer. The hill is named for Robert White, whose residence up here became a popular teahouse in the early 1900s, and the reserve sits within the Bulimba Creek catchment that drains Brisbane's east.
The 106-metre summit of the suburb, whose old quarry now recycles asphalt for Brisbane's roads.
Recycling something well-made instead of dumping it is our whole trade; a quality wool rug washed properly outlives two cheap replacements.
Pine Mountain is the highest point in Carina Heights at 106 metres, carrying the upper reaches of Whites Hill Reserve on its slopes. Its working past is still active: the former Pine Mountain quarry site now operates as an asphalt recycling facility, grinding old road surface back into new, which makes this quiet residential hill one of the few places in Brisbane where a quarry found a second life instead of becoming landfill.
The championship course on Pine Mountain Road, just over the boundary in Carindale, minutes from any Carina Heights street.
The established homes ringing the course hold some of the better wool and Persian rugs on our southeast run, and their owners appreciate a frank assessment before any wash is booked.
Pacific Golf Club has run since 1964 on Pine Mountain Road, officially the Carindale side of the line but effectively Carina Heights' local course. It carries an 18-hole championship par 72 layout in the hills plus a 9-hole par-3 course, with a bistro, beer garden and function rooms seating up to 290 that host everything from club presentations to wakes for the surrounding suburbs.

Carina Heights rug questions, no run-around
Our rug has not been washed in twenty years. Too late?
Usually not. Dirt is not the same as damage, and old wool often washes up remarkably well. We inspect it, show you what is wear versus what is soiling, and price it firmly. If it is genuinely past saving, you will hear that instead of a sales pitch.
Does bushland next door really affect indoor rugs?
It does. Eucalypt pollen and fine trail dust travel on shoes, paws and the breeze, then sink below the rug's pile where vacuums cannot follow. More vacuuming does not change that; a periodic immersion wash does.
Which nearby suburbs do you cover on the same run?
Carina, Camp Hill, Carindale and Belmont share the mornings, and Mansfield and Mount Gravatt East over the southern boundary are also serviced. Combine households in one booking and the multi-rug discount, $20 per rug after the first, applies across the whole load.
Is the golf club side of the suburb on your route?
Yes. The streets around Pacific Golf Club, which officially sits just over the Carindale line, are minutes from the rest of Carina Heights and ride the same collection mornings.
What happens if I am not satisfied with the wash?
Say so within 48 hours of the rug arriving home and it returns to the wash floor at no charge. That guarantee has stood alongside our 29 years of washing, and it gets used rarely.
Our new rug already has pet stains. Wash or wait?
Wash sooner rather than later. Urine left in wool keeps working on the fibres and dyes, and the smell gets harder to remove the longer it stays. Immersion washing takes out the source, and the honest assessment beforehand costs nothing.
