An honest quote for the smallest suburb on the loop
There is no small-job price and no small-job process. The rug is looked at, one figure comes back, and it is worked out exactly the way it would be for a house four times the size.

Rug washing Shelly Beach, on a handful of streets by the sea
The hotel that was built in the wrong spot
Caloundra's first hotel was built in 1885 at the corner of Alfred Street and Victoria Terrace, at the southern end of Shelly Beach, well before the town had settled on where its own centre was going to be. The position turned out to sit some distance from the emerging Caloundra CBD, which faced the more sheltered water further south instead, and the original hotel was eventually replaced by the Hotel Francis, built in 1906 on Albert Street, which became a well known meeting place for the wider community. That is a fair introduction to this suburb. It has always sat quietly beside its larger neighbours rather than trying to be the centre of anything, and at half a square kilometre with 925 residents at the 2021 census, up from 854 in 2016, it is the smallest suburb we collect from on this loop.
There is no such thing as a small collection. There is a rug in a house, and it gets the whole process.
A few hundred houses and no centre at all
Shelly Beach sits two point six kilometres northeast of Caloundra's CBD, wedged between Moffat Beach to the north and Kings Beach to the south with the Coral Sea as its eastern edge. It has no shopping strip, no commercial centre and no government school. Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School on Edmund Street, opened on 29 January 1980, is the only school inside the boundaries. What the suburb does have is a small number of streets mixing older beach cottages with more recent infill, tightly held rather than turning over often, and rugs that tend to stay in the same family for a very long time. That last part changes the work in a genuinely useful way. When an owner can tell you where a rug came from, roughly when, and what has already been tried on a stain, the assessment gets sharper and the honest answer about what a wash will return gets easier to give.
The same coast, on fewer streets
Half a square kilometre facing the open Coral Sea gets exactly the same salt-laden onshore air as Moffat Beach and Kings Beach on either side, simply concentrated onto a much smaller number of houses. Nothing about being a small suburb softens it. Salt arrives on every onshore breeze, works down through a pile and settles in the foundation, where it dulls colour year by year without ever producing a stain anybody can point at. Older cottages here make it worse than newer construction does, because they were built before modern sealing and let coastal air move through the structure freely. None of that comes out with a vacuum, because none of it is sitting on top. A full immersion wash floods the base of the rug and takes the salt out with the water, and the piece is then dried flat under controlled conditions rather than in a small, humid room.

Premier Rug Cleaning Sunshine Coast
The Sunshine Coast listing marks out the area we service rather than a counter to visit. Our driver comes to the house even for a single rug, and the washing is done at Yatala.
Off these streets and down to Yatala
One rug is worth the drive and the drive is ours, not yours. Shelly Beach sits on the loop between Kings Beach and Moffat Beach, and the time comes through once the run for the day is worked out.
A hotel in the wrong place, one subdivision and one school
A suburb that has never needed to be the centre of anything.
The town's original hotel opened at Shelly Beach in 1885, only to prove too far from the centre that grew up elsewhere.
A hotel built a little early in a slightly too small a spot still says something true about this suburb, which has always sat quietly beside its larger neighbours, and every collection here gets identical attention regardless of size.
Caloundra's first hotel was built in 1885 at the corner of Alfred Street and Victoria Terrace, at the southern end of Shelly Beach, well before the town had settled on where its own centre would sit. The position turned out to be some distance from the emerging Caloundra CBD, which faced the more sheltered water to the south instead, and the original hotel was eventually replaced by the Hotel Francis, built in 1906 on Albert Street, which went on to become a well known meeting place for the wider community.
Land agent Roy Henzell began subdividing Shelly Beach in 1948, laying out the small suburb's streets on the northern side of the beach.
A suburb laid out in one careful stage rather than expanded piecemeal over decades holds that contained character still, and it is the sort of place where a rug's whole history is often known, which makes an honest assessment easier to give.
Roy Henzell, the same land agent responsible for opening up several other stretches of this coast in the same period, began his Shelly Beach subdivisions in 1948, working the northern side of the beach into the residential streets that still largely define the suburb today. It was a modest and tightly bounded release compared with the larger runs he opened elsewhere, which matches the suburb's own small and contained footprint almost exactly.
Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School has served Shelly Beach since 29 January 1980, the only school inside the boundaries.
A suburb this compact, with no centre of its own, still gets the full service every larger address on our Sunshine Coast run gets, and a rug from one of these few streets is never handled as an afterthought.
Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School opened on 29 January 1980, founded by the Sisters of St Joseph on Edmund Street, and today teaches from Prep to Year 6 with an enrolment above 340 students. It remains the only school within Shelly Beach's own boundaries, in a suburb with no government school, no shopping strip and no commercial centre, just houses on either side of a beach shared with two much larger neighbours.

Shelly Beach questions, answered plainly
We only have one rug. Is that worth a collection?
Yes, and it is most of what we do here. A single rug is collected, washed and returned exactly as a house full of them would be, at the same standard and on the same run day. The drive is ours to make and it is already inside the quote, so a small job is not a more expensive one per rug.
How is the price worked out on such a small suburb?
Precisely the way it is worked out anywhere else. Size, construction, the foundation and the state of the piece are what count. The driver prices it after seeing the rug, the travel in both directions is already in that price, and it does not change later. Where a wash will not repay itself, we say so.
There is no room to store a rug while it dries. Does that matter?
Not at all, because the drying happens at our facility rather than at yours. The rug comes back flat, groomed and properly dry, ready to go straight back down. That is the main practical advantage of the piece leaving the house rather than being cleaned in it.
The dog urinated on the only rug in the house. Will the smell go?
Yes, so long as the residue is removed instead of masked. Urine gets down to the backing within hours of the accident, and in a small house there is nowhere for the smell to go, which is unpleasant but does mean it is dealt with early. Immersion clears the layer, an enzyme stage settles it, and permanent dye damage is explained at the assessment.
Do you also collect from Moffat Beach and Kings Beach?
Yes, both neighbours sit on the same loop, along with Dicky Beach, Caloundra and Battery Hill. Two houses on the same short street can put rugs together on one collection, which is worth arranging here, and each rug after the first is $20 off.
How long is the rug away for?
About 7 days door to door. Where a date genuinely will not move, express handling inside 48 hours can be arranged for an additional cost. On an old cottage rug we would rather take the standard time, because the drying stage is what protects a foundation that has already spent decades on this coast.
