An honest quote for rugs that have been handed on
A family rug deserves a proper look before a figure exists. We inspect it, name one number, and hold to it, and we say plainly when the sentimental value is greater than what a wash can restore.

Rug washing Currimundi, in streets that keep their families
A suburb that has stayed with its families
Currimundi sits five point four kilometres north of the Caloundra centre and ninety point two kilometres north of Brisbane, a beach-and-lake suburb between Aroona and Dicky Beach. It covers three point six square kilometres, and its population was 6,786 at the 2016 census and 6,570 in 2021, which is one of the few in this group to have edged down rather than up. Birtinya, Wurtulla, Meridan Plains, Little Mountain, Aroona, Battery Hill and Dicky Beach all adjoin it. A slightly smaller population in a suburb that has not shrunk in area usually means the same households staying on while the families inside them get smaller, which is exactly what we find when we collect here. Children leave, parents stay, and the furniture does not move.
Half the rugs we collect in this suburb are older than the person who rang about them.
Two schools, fifty years, the same streets
Residential subdivision began here properly in 1948, when the local land agent Roy Henzell started selling blocks at Currimundi and at Shelly Beach to the north, laying out streets the suburb still runs on. Currimundi State School opened on 24 January 1977 and Talara Primary College followed on 22 January 1998, two decades apart, with Caloundra State High, Kawana Waters State College and Meridan State College taking students on from there. Between them those two schools have anchored the suburb's family character for close to fifty years, and that shows up in the housing: settled brick-and-tile homes from the 1970s onward, filled in around the lake and the beach, with a genuine neighbourhood shopping centre rather than a holiday strip. Rugs here get handed down within streets, not just within houses, and a piece that started in one lounge room quite often finishes in another one two corners away.
Sand from one side, still water from the other
Currimundi sits between open surf along its eastern edge and the still water of its own lake system inland, which gives households both kinds of coastal damp at once. Salt spray comes off the ocean on the onshore breeze, and flat, humid air holds over the calmer water on the lake side when the sea is quiet. On a handed-down rug that combination has usually been working for decades rather than seasons, so the load in the foundation is deep and thoroughly compacted. Immersion washing is the only process that reaches it, taking salt and trapped moisture out of the base of the pile in one pass. The rug is then dried flat under controlled conditions, which matters on a piece that has already survived one or two damp garages between houses.
Our Sunshine Coast office, and where the wash actually happens
Our Sunshine Coast office
Premier Rug Cleaning Sunshine Coast
This listing covers a service area, which is the honest description of it: we drive out to you, and the rug is washed at Yatala rather than anywhere on the Coast itself.
What the run day actually involves
We absorb that distance. Currimundi rides the middle leg with Wurtulla and Warana, and once the run day is set you get a window rather than a vague morning.
A governor's naming, two schools and a clean beach
A suburb that has kept the same families through several generations.
Queensland Governor Sir Leslie Wilson chose the local term recorded as Garamandah or Girramundi, understood to mean place of flying foxes.
A name chosen deliberately rather than assumed, and a suburb built from one agent's careful subdivision plan, both say the same thing about doing the groundwork before building on top of it.
Before European settlement the Kabi Kabi people occupied this stretch of coast, and when the area came to be formally named, Queensland Governor Sir Leslie Wilson chose the local term recorded as Garamandah or Girramundi, understood to mean place of flying foxes. Residential subdivision began properly in 1948, when the local land agent Roy Henzell started selling blocks at both Currimundi and Shelly Beach to the north, laying out the street pattern the suburb still uses today.
Currimundi State School opened on 24 January 1977 and Talara Primary College followed on 22 January 1998.
A suburb running two schools for this long carries generations of the same families, and each generation's rugs get exactly the same honest look before anybody recommends a wash.
Currimundi State School opened on 24 January 1977, the suburb's first, and Talara Primary College followed on 22 January 1998 as the local population kept growing. Between them the two schools have anchored Currimundi's family character for close to fifty years, with Caloundra State High School, Kawana Waters State College and Meridan State College all serving as the nearest options once local students reach secondary age.
Currimundi Beach, the open-ocean strand rather than the water inland, won Queensland's Cleanest Beach award in 2004.
A beach that earned a state-wide cleanliness title is the kind of standard we hold our own wash process to, checked and verified rather than simply assumed to be working.
Currimundi Beach, patrolled separately from the calmer water inland, took out the Queensland's Cleanest Beach award in 2004, recognition for the open stretch of sand fronting the suburb's eastern edge. The local Currimundi Markets shopping centre sits a short walk back from the same beach, functioning as the suburb's own retail hub rather than as a strip built for passing holidaymakers.

Currimundi questions, answered plainly
The rug came from my parents. Can it still be washed?
Usually. What settles it is the weave rather than the years: how the foundation has held up, whether the dyes are stable, and how the thing was put together. All of that is tested before water is drawn. Where a bath is safe it is what brings the piece back, and where it is not we use compound cleaning and explain why.
How do you arrive at the price?
By reading the rug. The number follows the rug itself, its size, its fibre and its state, and once set at inspection it does not shift, with both of the driver's trips inside it. On a family piece we will also say plainly where the sentimental value outweighs what a wash can realistically restore.
It has been rolled up in the garage for years. Is it too late?
Often not, though storage is where moth damage and mould both start, so the first thing we look for is both of those. Unroll it, photograph it if you can, and ring us. A treated bath handles moth at every stage, and mould caught in its first season usually leaves nothing behind.
The family dog urinated on the rug some time ago. Can that still be removed?
In most cases yes, because time does not remove the residue, it only hides it. Urine reaches the backing on the day and stays put, so the smell returns each humid week. Bathing washes that layer out, an enzyme stage deals with the cause, and colour damage is described at the assessment.
Do you also collect from Wurtulla, Aroona and Dicky Beach?
Yes, along with Battery Hill and Birtinya on the same middle leg of the run. Extended family at two addresses can send rugs on a single collection, which people here do regularly, and every rug after the first is $20 off.
How long will the rug be away from us?
About 7 days from collection through to delivery. Where a date is genuinely fixed, the 48-hour express service can be arranged at additional cost. Both end in the controlled drying room, which is not negotiable on a piece that has already been through a damp garage or two.
