A single number for a district that still farms
The figure comes after the rug has been opened out and assessed, never before. One number for everything from collection to delivery, and it does not change.

Rug washing Greenmount, in the farm country toward Warwick
Three names, and a swap on the postal record
This district was first known as Emu Creek, then Greenmount West, before settling on the name it has now, which was taken from the property of Donald Mackintosh, a local farmer and member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. The precise moment of the change is on the postal record and it is worth stating exactly, because it is stranger than a simple renaming. In 1879 the post office called Emu Creek Siding was renamed Greenmount, while the post office that had been called Greenmount was renamed Emu Creek. Two offices swapped names in the same administrative act. That is the sort of detail that gets lost unless somebody writes it down, and it explains why older references to the district can be confusing to read today.
Two post offices swapped names in 1879 and the district has been explaining it ever since. Small places keep better records than anyone expects.
A memorial, three parks and a school
The Greenmount War Memorial was dedicated on 11 December 1922 and still stands, alongside Bicentennial Memorial Park, Violet Brody Park and Jack Derrick Park. For a district this small, three named parks and a memorial amount to a genuine civic centre, and they are kept properly rather than left to go over. Greenmount State School had 46 students in 2018. The author Steele Rudd, who was born at nearby Drayton, attended Emu Creek State School here while the district still carried that name, which is a small and specific piece of local history rather than a claim on the man himself. Around all of it sit working properties. Graziers settled here in the 1840s and farming remains the chief employment today, which shapes the housing and the rugs inside it.
Higher, drier country, and the dust that goes with it
South of Toowoomba the country runs a little higher and drier, and Greenmount gets cold winters, dry summers and paddock dust off working farms all year. That dust is the main thing we deal with from this district. It is fine, it is abrasive, and it passes straight through a pile to sit against the foundation, where it cuts fibre from underneath every single time the rug is walked on. The population has more than doubled in fifteen years, from 336 in 2006 to 699 in 2016 and 765 in 2021, so a good number of houses here are relatively new arrivals with rugs that have never been properly washed. A full immersion lifts the embedded soil out of the base of the pile, moth treatment travels in the same water, and the rug dries flat at Yatala rather than over a rail in a shed.

Directions from Greenmount to our Yatala facility
We hold no address anywhere in this district or in Toowoomba. A Greenmount rug is rolled at the house, driven the full distance to our Yatala facility for a hand wash, and returned on the same run once the day is confirmed.
A swapped name, a memorial from 1922 and a writer's school days
A small farming district with a surprisingly well documented past.
The district was first known as Emu Creek, then Greenmount West, before taking its present name from the property of Donald Mackintosh, a local farmer and member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly.
Getting a place's own history right, including the awkward parts, is the same discipline we bring to telling an owner exactly what their rug is.
The turning point is on the postal record. In 1879 the post office called Emu Creek Siding was renamed Greenmount, while the post office that had been called Greenmount was itself renamed Emu Creek. Two offices exchanged names in one administrative act, which is why older references to this district can be difficult to follow.
The Greenmount War Memorial was dedicated on 11 December 1922 and stands today alongside Bicentennial Memorial Park, Violet Brody Park and Jack Derrick Park.
A district that has kept its memorial and its parks in good order for a century holds things to the standard we would like a washed rug held to.
For a district this small, that amounts to a real civic centre, with community memory held in a handful of well-tended public spaces rather than one grand landmark. All of them are maintained rather than left to deteriorate.
The author Steele Rudd, born at nearby Drayton, attended Emu Creek State School here while the district still carried that earlier name.
A small farming district that keeps growing is exactly the sort of community our southern run treats with the same care as any suburb closer in.
The population has grown honestly across recent decades, from 336 in 2006 to 699 in 2016 and 765 in 2021, more than doubling in fifteen years in a district where graziers first settled in the 1840s and where farming remains the chief work today. Greenmount State School had 46 students in 2018.

Greenmount, answered straight
Which postcode should we be giving you?
4359. It is worth confirming because Greenmount does not appear on some of the district postcode listings at all, which occasionally causes confusion at delivery. The service and the price are unaffected either way, but it keeps the paperwork in line with your address.
What determines the cost?
Three things and nothing else: the size of the rug, how it was built and the state it is in now. The distance from here to Yatala and back is carried by us and is already inside the figure. We assess the piece, name one number, and it stays as quoted.
Everything out here is dusty. Is a wash really going to change that?
It changes the part that matters. What sits on the surface comes off with a broom, but the fine material that has filtered down against the foundation does not, and that is the material shortening the rug's life. Only water reaching the base of the pile removes it.
One corner of the rug has been urinated on repeatedly by the dog. Recoverable?
In most cases. What makes it stubborn is depth: the urine has passed the wool and settled into the foundation, where no product applied on top can follow it. Immersion empties that layer, the enzyme stage after it deals with the odour itself, and where the dye beneath has been affected you hear it from us before the wash begins.
Do you collect at Cambooya, Wyreema and Hodgson Vale?
All three sit on this run, and Top Camp and Middle Ridge are picked up on the way back into the city. Several rugs from one property travelling together is the sensible arrangement, with $20 off each rug after the first.
How long will the rug be away?
Generally about 7 days from pickup, with the distance already allowed for. If something is urgent, express handling within 48 hours is available at an additional charge. The run down this way has a set day, so let us know at the start if there is a date you need to meet.
