An honest quote for acreage rugs and estate rugs alike
A rug carrying five years of paddock soil and a rug barely out of its wrapping are priced the same way: somebody looks at it, one number comes back, and that number holds.

Rug washing Meridan Plains, on ground that is still mostly land
Five hundred head of cattle and a borrowed name
In 1861 the pastoral run then known as Mooloolah Plains was taken up under lease by Edmund Lander, and within a year the lease had passed to John Westaway. In 1862 Westaway's sons, William Henry and Richard, set off with Lander and others, driving 500 head of cattle north along with pack horses and drays loaded with supplies, and renamed the property Meridan after their father's birthplace in Devonshire, England. The Westaway family ran cattle across this district right through to the 1920s, and Westaway Road still carries the name. A second possibility exists for where the word came from, a Kabi language term meaning the place of kangaroos or dingoes, and it is worth stating rather than quietly dropping, because the sourcing does not settle firmly on one over the other.
Soil does the damage out here, and soil is the one thing you cannot see until the rug is in the water.
Nineteen square kilometres, two kinds of household
Meridan Plains sits seven point nine kilometres north of Caloundra and covers nineteen square kilometres, by a good margin the largest suburb by land in this part of the group, and much of it is still genuinely working ground. The population has moved from 3,675 at the 2016 census to 4,589 in 2021 as Caloundra's residential growth pushes further inland. The locality's own boundary was trimmed in 2019 when new growth suburbs were carved off its southern edge. What is left is a real mix, and the two ends of it send us very different rugs. Off the rural blocks come pieces that have been on hard floors near paddock doors for years, heavy with soil worked deep into the foundation. Out of the estate streets around Meridan State College and Pacific Lutheran College come rugs barely two years old, carrying construction dust and not much else. Both need the same immersion process and quite different judgement about strength.
Humidity without the salt
This is an inland suburb, so the wave-driven salt that dominates a beachfront street simply is not part of the picture here. What replaces it is a combination that is arguably harder on wool. The humid subtropical pattern reaches every part of this district, holding damp in closed rooms through the warm months, and the working land supplies genuine mineral dust every time it dries out between rains. A rug carrying both at once has abrasive soil packed into its base and enough residual moisture in there to keep organic matter active. Neither is reachable from the surface, which is why a rug can look reasonable and still be quietly wearing itself out underneath. A full immersion wash floods the foundation, lifts the soil out of it and takes the trapped moisture with it, and the piece then dries flat under controlled conditions instead of on a rail in a humid shed.

Premier Rug Cleaning Sunshine Coast
Nobody drives a rug to us out here, and nobody needs to. The Sunshine Coast listing shows the country our team works, our driver comes to the property, and the washing happens at Yatala.
Off the property and down the coast
We wear that drive, and it was already inside the number you were given. Meridan Plains is collected with Little Mountain and Currimundi, and the window is confirmed once the day is locked in.
A cattle drive, two colleges and nineteen square kilometres
A district named by the family who worked it for sixty years.
The Westaway brothers renamed their new pastoral run Meridan in 1862, after their father's birthplace in Devonshire.
A family that named a new place after the one they left and then worked it for sixty years understood that a name has to be earned by whatever follows it, which is roughly our position on doing a rug properly rather than quickly.
In 1861 the pastoral run known as Mooloolah Plains was taken up under lease by Edmund Lander, and within a year the lease passed to John Westaway. In 1862 Westaway's sons, William Henry and Richard, set off with Lander and others, driving 500 head of cattle north along with pack horses and supply-laden drays, and renamed the property Meridan after their father's birthplace in Devonshire, England. The Westaway family ran cattle across this district right through to the 1920s, and Westaway Road still carries the family name today.
Meridan State College opened in 2006 and Pacific Lutheran College in 2001, and both now serve a still largely rural suburb.
A district that puts its schools in before its shopping centres fills with young families quickly, and every one of those households gets the same first look at the rug that a fifty-year farming family does.
Meridan State College opened its primary campus in 2006 and expanded through 2008 to 2010 as the local population grew, while Pacific Lutheran College, which opened on 26 September 2001, now sits within Meridan Plains' own boundaries following later locality adjustments. Between them the two schools give a suburb that is still mostly working land the kind of anchor institutions usually found in far more built-up places.
At nineteen square kilometres this is the largest suburb by land in this part of the group, and much of it remains rural.
A suburb this size holds both ends of the range, acreage rugs carrying years of paddock soil and estate rugs barely unrolled, and both get the same honest look before any wash is recommended.
Meridan Plains covers nineteen square kilometres, by far the largest land area of any suburb in this part of the group, and its population has grown from 3,675 in 2016 to 4,589 in 2021 as Caloundra's residential expansion reaches further inland. Traditionally rural, the locality still holds working paddocks and rural-residential blocks alongside its newer estate streets, and the balance between the two is what gives the suburb its particular character.

Meridan Plains questions, answered plainly
Our rug came off an acreage block and looks filthy. Is it too far gone?
Almost certainly not. Soil is heavy and it looks final, but it is mineral and it comes out with water and proper agitation, which is exactly what an immersion wash does. What decides the outcome is the condition of the foundation underneath the soil, and that is what the inspection checks before we commit to anything.
How do you price a rug out here?
Off the rug. Size, construction, the foundation and how much has worked into it are what set the number. It is given once the driver has actually seen the piece, the travel in both directions is already inside it, and nothing is added later. If washing will not repay itself we say so first.
We are a long way off the main road. Will you still come out to us?
Yes. Rural addresses on this side of the coast are part of the planned run rather than an exception to it. Give us the property access details when you book, including any gate that needs to be left open, and the driver works it into the day.
The dog urinated on the rug near the back door. Can that be fixed?
Usually, and dogs coming in off paddocks make it a common one here. Urine reaches the backing straight away and stays there, so surface products treat what you can see and none of the cause. Immersion carries that layer out, an enzyme stage neutralises it, and any permanent colour damage is explained at the assessment rather than after.
Do you also collect from Little Mountain, Currimundi and Birtinya?
Yes, all three are covered on the same run as Meridan Plains, along with Aroona. Two properties on the same road can put rugs together on one collection if that helps, and every rug after the first is $20 off.
How long will a heavily soiled rug take?
About 7 days door to door, the same as any other piece, because the soil is dealt with in the wash rather than by keeping the rug longer. A 48-hour express service is available at additional cost. The controlled drying room is what makes the difference on a heavy rug, since a soil-loaded piece holds far more water than a clean one.
