There is no gazetted locality called South Ipswich, and it is worth saying that plainly at the start rather than letting a page imply otherwise. The official map divides the city's southern side into Eastern Heights, Newtown, Raceview, Flinders View, Churchill and Yamanto, with the CBD locality already sitting on the southern bank of the Bremer. What people mean by the name is the ground between the town reach and the rural country beyond the Cunningham Highway, roughly 40 to 47 kilometres southwest of Brisbane. On the ground it is family Ipswich: interwar and post-war timber on the hill streets closest to town, brick family houses through the middle decades, and estate streets further out. Why a rug has to leave the house to be washed properly
The question comes up on nearly every enquiry, usually phrased as whether we could just do it here. The honest answer is no, and the reasons are physical rather than commercial. Start with water. Washing a rug properly means submerging it, working the fibre while it is under, and then rinsing until what comes off it runs clear. On a medium sized wool piece that is several hundred litres passing through the rug, and all of it has to be contained, drained and disposed of somewhere that is designed for it. A living room floor is not that place at any price. Then there is what happens afterwards, which matters more than most people realise. A wool rug holds an extraordinary amount of water and takes days rather than hours to release it. Left flat on a floor it dries from the top down, the foundation stays wet longest, and a foundation that stays wet is exactly how a rug ends up smelling worse than it did before anybody touched it. Controlled drying means air moving around the whole piece, on a rack, for as long as it takes, and being checked before release. Third is assessment. Nobody can read a rug that is lying under furniture in a lit room: the back cannot be inspected, the fibre cannot be tested and dye behaviour cannot be checked out of sight. Every one of those has to happen before a decision, not after it. In-home treatments have their place, and for wall to wall carpet they are the only sensible option. For a rug, taking the piece to a facility built for the job is the difference between the surface looking better for a while and the rug actually being clean.
