One straight number on a Churchill rug worth keeping
No rug can be priced properly without being seen, and a telephone estimate either overcharges or gets revised later. Look at it, price it once, charge that. No revisions afterwards.

Rug washing Churchill, where value has to add up
A small suburb that has always worked for a living
Churchill is 1.7 square kilometres of flat residential streets about 4.5 kilometres south of central Ipswich and roughly 42 kilometres from Brisbane, with the Bremer marking its western edge and Deebing Creek its eastern one. The 2021 census counted 1,842 residents. The housing tells you what kind of place it is: early twentieth century timber homes and post war houses on level blocks, with newer infill filling the gaps between them. Rugs here are practical and long serving. A wool piece holds the front room, runners take the hallway traffic, and something synthetic and forgiving lives where the children and the dog do. Nobody in Churchill is buying a new rug because the old one looks a bit flat, and they should not have to. Washing a good rug costs a fraction of replacing it, and when a rug genuinely will not repay the work we say so at the inspection.
If a rug will not repay the wash, you should hear that from us before you pay for it, not after.
Saleyards, a soap works and a branch line
The district ran on plain industry long before it went quiet. The first section of the branch line from Ipswich toward Harrisville opened on 10 July 1882 and ran roughly parallel to Lobb Street, reaching Dugandan by 12 September 1887, and a working district grew up around it: livestock saleyards that Queensland Places records as the later site of Ipswich's first agricultural show, an abattoir near the line, and a soap and candle works on Lobb Street from about 1870. The line through Churchill closed in 1964 and the suburb settled into the residential place it is today. The name itself is older than any of it. Churchill takes its name from the County of Churchill, one of the cadastral counties drawn across the colony's maps in 1845, which puts the word on this ground decades before the first houses.
Low ground, hot summers and what the pile keeps
Sitting on low ground between two waterways gives Churchill the full inland swing: baking summer days followed by a storm season that loads the air with damp. Older timber houses hold that cycle in their closed rooms, and rug pile takes in the moisture and the dust at the same time. What people notice is not dirt, because there is nothing obvious to see. The rug just goes flat and grey by degrees over three or four years until somebody unrolls a clean one next to it. Yatala clears what has gathered below, so the piece goes back into the room dry to its base. About 57 kilometres in each direction.
Our Brisbane office, and where Churchill rugs actually get washed
Our Brisbane office
Premier Rug Cleaning and Washing - BrisbaneLevel 1, Suite 475/241 Adelaide St
Brisbane City QLD 4000
Adelaide Street covers enquiries, quoting and records only. No cleaning happens in it. Rugs from these flats go to Yatala.
Where your rug goes and how it comes back
Nobody should try it with a rug in the boot. The flats ride the Ipswich day, the travel is ours to absorb, and a pickup time is confirmed when the run is set.
A county name, a branch line and a school of a hundred years
An old working district that turned into a quiet place to live.
Churchill carries the name of one of Queensland's original land counties.
A name that predates the houses suits a trade that predates the trends. We have hand washed rugs the same way for 29 years.
The suburb was named after the County of Churchill, one of the cadastral counties drawn across the colony's maps in 1845, decades before these streets filled in. While most suburbs take their names from settlers, stations or homesteads, Churchill's comes off the survey maps themselves, a name that was on paper here before almost anything else was.
The Dugandan railway ran through Churchill's paddocks from 1882.
Churchill has always been a district of plain, useful work. Ours is the same: collect the rug, wash it honestly, bring it back.
The first section of the branch line from Ipswich toward Harrisville opened on 10 July 1882 and ran roughly parallel to Lobb Street, reaching Dugandan by 12 September 1887. Around it grew a working district: livestock saleyards that Queensland Places records as the later site of Ipswich's first agricultural show, an abattoir near the line, and a soap and candle works on Lobb Street from about 1870. The line through Churchill closed in 1964, and the suburb settled into the quiet residential place it is now.
Churchill State School has taught the district for a century.
A century old local school means generations of local families, and plenty of their rugs have been through our wash floor over the last 29 years.
Churchill State School opened on 29 January 1923, in the era when the farming flats south of Ipswich were filling with families. A century on it still runs as the suburb's own primary school, Prep to Year 6 with special education programs, opposite Lobley Park. Secondary students head into Ipswich, which keeps the school small, local and central to how the suburb sees itself.

Churchill questions, answered straight
What does a rug wash cost around Churchill?
Let us look at it first. Size, fibre, and state all matter, so nothing is quoted blind. The number then holds firm. Both journeys ride the Ipswich day, and a rug that cannot be brought back is named at the inspection rather than after.
Cheaper to wash the old one or buy new?
Wash it. In most houses on these flats that wins comfortably, because a wool rug gone flat and grey has generally not worn out at all, it has filled with years of fine soil. Replacing costs several times what cleaning does. Failing backing or real moth loss are the exceptions.
What if we need it sooner than a week?
Tell us the deadline when you book. The 48 hour option costs a bit more and is there when you need it. Otherwise reckon on seven days or thereabouts, and nothing goes home damp at the base.
The dog urinated on our good rug. Does washing fix it?
Yes, so long as the treatment reaches the backing, which is where urine goes. That is the bit sprays never touch. A full bath pulls the residue out from underneath, enzymes clear the salts, and a Churchill rug dried right through cannot start smelling again.
Do Yamanto, Raceview and Flinders View get the same day?
All three share the day with these flats, so a rug from here and one from a relative round the corner go on the one stop. Take $20 off the second rug and each one after it, which is why households send more than one.
The rug is too heavy for me. What then?
Mention it at booking. A two person team can be arranged for an additional charge, which is the right answer when a lounge suite is parked on the piece. Otherwise our driver only needs it rolled and standing near the front door.
