Winston Glades opened in 1998 west of Ash Street, giving the growing suburb its own supermarket and a strip of about twenty shops, and the council's mobile library still calls there fortnightly.

Inland Ipswich weather arrives here in full: summer days that bake dust into everything, then a storm season that loads closed brick homes with damp. Modern construction seals tight, which keeps the power bill down and keeps everything else in, so rug pile ends up holding pet odour, cooking and humidity all at once. What is a rug wash likely to cost here?
