An honest figure for rugs living beside water
Nothing is priced over the phone. The rug is opened out, read for what it is and what has happened to it, and quoted at one figure that does not shift afterwards.

Rug washing Lake Macdonald, in Noosa's own hinterland
Noosa's district, whatever the page tree says
Lake Macdonald is Noosa Shire and this page says so plainly. It covers twenty six and a half square kilometres sixteen point eight kilometres west of Tewantin, bordered by Pomona and Ringtail Creek to the north, Cooroibah and Cooroy to the east, Cooroy Mountain to the south and Tinbeerwah to the west, every one of them Noosa territory. Its administrative history makes the point better than geography does. The locality sat inside the Sunshine Coast Region only briefly, from the 2008 Queensland council amalgamations until 2013, when Noosa Shire was de-amalgamated, reinstated, and Lake Macdonald came home to it. One thousand three hundred and fifty two people lived here at the 2021 census. We plan our northern run around the district this locality actually belongs to, which is why it rides the Noosa leg alongside Cooroy and Tewantin rather than the Maroochydore one.
A locality that left a council and came back is a good reminder that filing something under a heading does not move it.
Acreage around a working water storage
The housing here is rural residential and acreage set around the reservoir itself, and the households are largely tree changers who arrived deliberately rather than families who happened to end up here. That shows in what they own. Good wool on polished timber, hand knotted pieces bought with some thought behind them, and owners who read up on cleaning methods before they ring anybody. There is no school inside the locality, so children go to Cooroy State School or the Pomona and Cooroy campuses of Noosa District State High School, which means the daily traffic runs outward and back rather than around. For rugs, the practical effect of all that is fewer pieces per property than a suburb but better ones, and owners who genuinely want to know what a wash will and will not achieve before they commit to it.
A reservoir does not have a dry season
There is a genuine body of water at the centre of this locality, and a water storage that size keeps the humidity up across every block around it, all year, on top of the subtropical cloud cover the Noosa hinterland already gets. That is a slower and more persistent problem than coastal salt. Salt is dramatic and obvious. Lake-edge humidity is neither, and it works on the base of a rug for years before anybody notices that the piece smells slightly off when it is lifted. Immersion clears trapped moisture and soil out of the foundation in one process, and the controlled drying room afterwards is what makes the result last, because a rug returned even slightly damp to a lakeside house is simply back where it started within a month.

Nothing on the Sunshine Coast is a counter you can walk into. The listing sets out the territory we cover, our driver comes to the property, and the washing all takes place at Yatala.
A long way down, and properly done
That is the longest leg we run and none of it lands on your quote. Lake Macdonald is collected on the Noosa day with Cooroy and Tewantin, and the window is confirmed once the route is set.
A dam that named a district, a tip that became gardens, a shire restored
Three separate things here were turned back into something better.
Six Mile Creek Dam, a rock and earth-fill embankment, creates the Lake Macdonald reservoir the locality is named after, and it is working water supply as well as a recreation site.
A reservoir this central to a district tells you how much water is moving through the air around every house here, which is precisely why the drying stage of a wash matters more at this end of our run.
Two boat ramps and two jetties, managed jointly by South East Queensland Water Corp and Noosa Shire Council, give the public access to the water, and Mary River Cod Park provides further boating access on the shore. It is genuinely operational infrastructure that happens to double as the district's main amenity.
The Noosa Botanic Gardens on Lake Macdonald Drive began as a dumping area, until local resident Ida Duncan convinced the council to clear it, and the gardens opened in 1990.
Something written off and then brought back properly is the argument for washing a rug rather than replacing it, and it is the argument one person had to make repeatedly here before anyone listened.
A Zen garden, an open-air bush chapel, marble sculptures, a lily pond, a fern house and an amphitheatre now occupy ground that once held rusted car bodies and weeds, all of it overlooking the lake and all of it open free of charge every day of the year. One resident's persistence is the entire reason it exists.
Lake Macdonald sat inside the Sunshine Coast Region only from the 2008 council amalgamations until 2013, when Noosa Shire was reinstated and the locality returned to it.
We schedule our northern collections around where a place actually belongs rather than where a page tree files it, which is why this locality rides the Noosa day.
Five years inside a larger regional council, then a de-amalgamation vote brought the shire back and Lake Macdonald has sat within it ever since. It is a genuine piece of local governance history, and it underlines how firmly this locality belongs to Noosa rather than to the Maroochy district it happens to be filed under on our own site tree.

Lake Macdonald questions, answered plainly
You are a long way from here. Do you really collect at Lake Macdonald?
Yes. This is the far end of our territory and we do not pretend otherwise, which is why it runs on a set Noosa day rather than on demand. The truck comes through on that day, the collection is free, and the drive is not something you pay for.
How long will the rug be away?
About 7 days from collection to delivery under normal circumstances, and a 48-hour express service is available at additional cost when something has to be back sooner. Given the distance, tell us any deadline when you first ring so the pickup can be scheduled backwards from it.
How is the price decided on a Lake Macdonald rug?
Only the rug decides it. How it is built, how big it is and what condition it has reached are the three inputs, and the two hour drive in each direction is not one of them. The number is set at inspection and stays there. On a piece too worn to justify the work, we say so plainly rather than take it.
The dog swims in the lake, and has also urinated on the rug. Recoverable?
Both are, and the urine is the one that matters. Urine reaches the foundation on the first day and stays chemically active there, which is why a rug can smell months later while looking perfectly clean. Removing the source means flushing the whole weave, then an enzyme stage. Lake water and its organic load come out in the same bath.
Do you also collect at Cooroy, Tewantin and Tinbeerwah?
All three are on the northern day, alongside Noosaville, Noosa Heads and Doonan. Because that day is scheduled rather than on demand, it makes real sense to gather rugs from more than one household onto it. Each rug past the first carries $20 off.
Our rug always feels slightly damp underneath. Is that normal here?
It is common here and it is not something to leave. Lakeside humidity keeps the base of a pile marginally wet long after the face feels dry, and that is the condition mould needs. A proper wash and a controlled dry resets it, and lifting the rug occasionally to let air underneath helps it stay that way.
