Every rug in the house, one honest booking

Most Kalinga bookings start with one muddy runner and end with the driver carrying out three or four rugs at once. Each is inspected and priced firmly at the door, every rug after the first is $20 cheaper, and if a piece is not worth washing professionally, we say that too.

Flat streets, one big park

Rug Washing Kalinga, for Rugs That Work Hard

Old streets, young suburb, hard-working rugs

Kalinga is one of Brisbane's youngest official suburbs and one of its oldest neighbourhoods at the same time. Settled after the land auction of 1888 but only gazetted as its own suburb in 2015 after decades inside Wooloowin, it keeps quiet tree-lined streets where older Queenslanders stand among small apartment blocks and newer two-storey timber homes.

The rugs are family workhorses: wool loop pile in the living room, runners in hallways that funnel brook mud, and now and then an inherited Persian in the front room.

Ten metres above sea level, and it shows

The ground is the other factor. Kalinga sits low and flat against Kedron Brook, about ten metres above sea level, so summer humidity settles instead of draining away, and homes near the parkland take damp air off the brook plus fine dust from the bikeway and playing fields. Immersion washing at our Yatala facility flushes that grit out of the pile, and controlled drying means the damp does not ride back inside with the rug.

The park comes home with you. So do we.

Living beside Kalinga Park means the park comes home on shoes, paws and the pram wheels, and the hallway runner takes delivery. That is why our Kalinga work is so often the whole house at once: the runner, the living room wool, the piece under the kids' table, collected together on the weekly inner north run with each rug after the first costing $20 less. They come back on one delivery, washed and completely dry, and the house resets in an afternoon.

Rug Cleaning Kalinga

Cleaning for the workhorse rugs of a park-side family suburb, mud, dog hair and all.

Kalinga rugs earn their keep harder than most, so the service is built for volume: whole-house pickups on the weekly inner north run, each rug priced individually and every one after the first $20 down.

  • Built for whole-house jobs
  • Each rug priced on merit
  • Weekly inner north run

Rug Washing Kalinga

The immersion bath that gets brook silt and settled damp out of family wool.

Low flat ground loads rugs slowly with grit and moisture. The full wash at Yatala reverses it: dye test, bath, hand agitation, a rinse that runs clear and a controlled dry to the foundation.

  • Slow loading reversed
  • A rinse that runs clear
  • Dry to the foundation
Most popular

Stain Removal

Cordial, mud and homework accidents write themselves into pale pile fast.

Marks are identified before they are treated, chemistry is matched to fibre and dye, and the prognosis is honest. Most family-rug stains improve far more than owners expect.

  • Family stains a specialty
  • Chemistry matched first
  • Honest prognosis given

Pet Stain and Odour

The dog walks the park twice a day and the rug records every trip.

Hair and mud comb and wash out, and urine residue is removed at the source in full immersion rather than masked. The rug comes home neutral and stays that way.

  • Every trip erased
  • Source-level urine removal
  • Neutral and staying neutral

Odour Removal

A rug can hold a year of damp brook air and slowly hand it back to the room.

The full wash strips that banked load from the fibre. After the controlled dry, a warm afternoon has nothing down there left to work with.

  • A year of damp removed
  • Nothing left to reactivate
  • The room smells like nothing

Rug Spot Cleaning

One puddle of cordial does not always call for the full process.

Where a spot treatment genuinely solves it, that is the quote you get. Where the whole rug is due, we say so at the door and leave the call with you.

  • Small problems, small quotes
  • Said plainly at the door
  • The call stays yours

Rug Steam Cleaning

The tough synthetics under play areas take steam extraction well and often.

Steam clears surface grime from hardy fibres at a sensible price. The inspection keeps the bath for rugs that genuinely need reaching to the base.

  • Tough fibres, quick work
  • Sensible pricing kept
  • The bath when it matters

Rug Dry Cleaning

Delicate blends and viscose pieces get low-moisture care instead of the bath.

Testing sorts the delicate cases first. Cleaning then works inside the fibre's tolerance, and you hear the limits before anything starts.

  • Sorted by testing first
  • Inside fibre tolerance
  • Limits explained up front

Water Damage Restoration

When the brook rises or a hot water system lets go, rugs are the first flooring casualty.

A soaked rug has days before mould claims it. Fast collection, controlled drying and washing in the right order bring most pieces back whole.

  • Days, and we move in them
  • Controlled drying first
  • Most pieces come back

Mould Rug Cleaning

Garage-stored rugs near the brook grow mould quietly through every wet season.

Young growth comes out of wool entirely. Established growth earns a straight answer about what the rug can get back, given before money enters it, and letting a piece go is sometimes that answer.

  • The wet-season risk
  • Early cases clear fully
  • Frank about lost causes

Rug Moth Treatment

Wool stored while the house is renovated comes back out with unwelcome tenants.

Immersion deals with the colony outright, eggs included. Anything eaten is put in front of you honestly, and better storage means it stays a one-time event.

  • Renovation storage risk
  • All stages removed
  • Safe storage explained

Stain Protection

A protective coat suits pale family rugs that see cordial, mud and paws weekly.

Once the rug is clean the protectant goes on unseen, and from then on spills soak slower, giving a busy family time to blot. By the second near-miss it has paid for itself.

  • Nothing changes underfoot
  • Spills slowed to blottable
  • Pays for itself here

Gates, greens and a ghost tram

Three things that make Kalinga itself

A 1910 park behind memorial gates, the bowls club beside it and the tram that used to stop here.

Kalinga Park

The big Kedron Brook parkland, reserved for locals in 1910 and entered through 1920 memorial gates.

Kalinga Park mud is a recurring character in this suburb's hallway runners. We collect them rolled from the front step, wash them at Yatala and bring them back dry.

Kalinga Bowls Club

The local greens beside the park, one of the suburb's longest-running community fixtures.

Clubs like this run on regulars, and so do we. Much of our inner north work is repeat clients who first handed over one rug and now book the whole house every year or two.

The Kalinga tram and picture theatre story

A suburb once served by its own tram line and open-air cinema, both gone but not forgotten.

The trams are gone but the houses they served are still standing, and so are many of their rugs. Washing 80-year-old wool without harming it is precisely the work our Yatala facility was set up for.

Inspection stress reduced in Kalinga
We needed the Moroccan rug cleaned before handing the keys back. The timing helped because we had enough to deal with during the move. The mark was much less noticeable and the rug smelled fresh. The improvement was noticeable without looking unnatural.

Good deep clean in Kalinga
After a few years in the main room, the machine-made rug needed a proper wash rather than another quick vacuum. I was glad it was not just steam cleaned on the floor. I was worried the backing would hold the smell even if the top looked clean. It feels softer underfoot and the colours sit more evenly now. I would not have been able to get the rug dry properly if I had tried it myself.

A fresh jute rug after the pet accident in Kalinga
The jute rug was too noticeable in the entry to ignore any longer. The pet stains were the main worry, and they flushed the smell out instead of just masking it. That was exactly the outcome we were hoping for. The Kalinga pickup was handled well.

Old stains are much less obvious in Kalinga

Off-site clean helped in Nathan

Good to know

Kalinga families ask

Can you take every rug in the house at once?

Yes, and it is the cheapest way to do it. Rugs collected together are priced individually, every rug past the first is $20 down, and the whole set comes back on one delivery, washed and completely dry.

The dog uses the rug more than we do. Is that fixable?

Almost always. Hair, mud and odour sit at different depths in the pile, and a full immersion wash with fibre-level odour treatment deals with all three. If a rug is past saving we tell you rather than charge you.

How much does rug cleaning cost in Kalinga?

Per rug, on size, fibre and condition, quoted at the door before anything is collected. There is nothing extra for the pickup itself and nothing for redelivery.

Do you cover Clayfield, Wooloowin and Nundah too?

Yes. All three share Kalinga's collection day, and Wavell Heights across the brook is covered on our northside runs, so both banks can book onto the same week.

How many days will we be without them, and what if something is wrong?

Standard is seven days door to door, and the 48-hour express costs extra. Any problem reported within 48 hours of the rugs coming home is put right with a free rewash.

Dog urine in the hallway runner, again. Can a wash actually end it?

It can, because the wash goes where the problem lives. Urine soaks past the pile into the runner's foundation, and every humid brook-side day bakes the smell back out, which is why sprays keep failing. Full immersion at Yatala removes the residue at the source and the controlled dry finishes it. If repeated accidents have shifted dye, the assessment tells you honestly what will and will not come back.
