William Eaton was farming in this district at neighbouring Albany Creek from 1874, and later served on the Pine Shire Council from 1909 to 1912. His name attached itself to the landscape and stayed: the hill became Eatons Hill, the winding road through the district became Eatons Crossing Road, and the old ford where it meets the South Pine on the Draper boundary is Eatons Crossing. One working farmer, still getting his mail delivered across half the map.

Eatons Hill State School opened on Marylin Terrace on 22 January 1998, arriving only after the estate boom of the 1990s made a local primary unavoidable, and within two decades it was teaching nearly 1,100 students.
