A firm quote for rugs built to acreage scale
Clear Mountain owners maintain their own properties and can smell a padded quote from the next ridge. Ours works the opposite way: describe the rug on the form, get one firm figure built from the size, the fibre and the condition, and approve it before anything happens. If the assessment finds the rug needs less than a full wash, the advice changes, and so does the price, downward.

Rug Cleaning Clear Mountain, Sized to the Houses
Acreage houses, acreage rugs
Clear Mountain is one of the few Brisbane-fringe localities still wrapped in state forest, around 800 people on ridges and big timbered blocks along Clear Mountain Road and its side lanes, with Cedar Creek tracing the southern boundary. The houses are big builds with long gravel drives, sheds and the odd stable, and inside them sit large-format rugs doing real work: wool spread over tile and timber, pieces anchored under furniture that rarely moves, all of it collecting the fine grit that acreage life walks in every day. Premier Rug Cleaning is built for exactly this scale of job.
That grit cuts pile from the inside, which is why a full immersion wash matters more up here, not less.
Storms hit the ridge first
Elevation buys the ridge cooler nights and a breeze, but summer storms roll straight over it and the surrounding forest holds the air damp for days afterwards. In a shaded acreage home that moisture settles deep into a rug's foundation, where it feeds odour and mildew unnoticed. The wash at our Yatala facility ends with controlled drying right through the pile to the backing, so the rug goes back up the mountain genuinely dry, not surface-dry.
A place people climb for quality
The lodge on the ridge has spent decades proving that people will drive up a mountain for something done properly, with its vineyard, spa and long views out toward Samsonvale and the coastal ranges. The farm families before that ran two schools on these slopes, the first from 1889, and kept their gear mended rather than replaced. Our service belongs to the same tradition: the driver makes the climb, the rug gets the unhurried version of a hand wash, and the honest assessment beforehand tells you whether the work is worth doing at all. Up here, that question gets a truthful answer.

Where a Clear Mountain rug gets washed
You never do the drive. Clear Mountain is batched onto the scheduled hills day with its neighbours, pickup and delivery ride with that run, and your window is confirmed once the day is locked in.
Three marks of the mountain
The retreat on the ridge, the farm schools that came and went, and the state forest that never left.
The ridge's retreat: spa, vineyard and 20 hectares of bushland.
The lodge is proof people drive up this mountain for things done properly. We drive up it too: the rolled rug leaves your door on the scheduled hills run and comes back hand washed from Yatala.
Clear Mountain Lodge sits high on the ridge in 20 hectares of native bushland, with a working vineyard, herb gardens, bee hives, a day spa and a restaurant, and long views running from the coastal ranges to the bay islands and the city skyline. Run for years under the Mercure flag, the property is being transformed to reopen as Peppers Clear Mountain, and it has hosted a generation of northside weddings and long weekends.
Branch Creek Primary ran 1889 to 1913, Clear Mountain State School 1903 to 1947.
Districts like this keep things for decades, rugs included. If yours has been down since the house went up, an honest assessment will tell you exactly what a proper wash can still bring back.
The creek flats below the mountain were farmed early, corn, vegetables, bananas, pineapples, dairying and piggeries, and the farm families built schools to match: Branch Creek Primary School ran from 1889 to 1913, and Clear Mountain State School followed from 1903 until 1947. When the farms consolidated and the children thinned out, both closed, and the district slowly traded cream cans for acreage homes. The names survive on maps and in long local memories.
State forest wraps the locality, with a lookout over the timbered country to the north.
Forest-edge living is hard on rugs: dust, damp and whatever the dog found out there. A full immersion hand wash at Yatala takes all of it out, with the 48-hour re-wash guarantee standing behind the result.
The bush is the point of living here, and Clear Mountain keeps more of it than almost any locality this close to Brisbane. On the northern boundary the lookout opens a long view over timbered country rolling away toward Samsonvale, and the forest tracks around the mountain carry walkers, trail riders and mountain bikes most weekends. The blocks are big, the tree cover is real, and the wildlife treats most backyards as annexes of the forest.

Asked from the ridge
Our rugs sit under heavy furniture and never move. Do they still need washing?
They need it more, not less. A rug that never moves collects grit in one traffic pattern and holds damp in the shaded zones under furniture, so wear and must both concentrate. A full wash resets the whole piece, and rotating it when it comes back spreads the next few years more evenly.
Does an oversized rug cost more to have collected?
Collection is simply part of the scheduled hills run, whatever the rug's size; the run exists to move big rugs. The wash itself is priced on size, fibre and condition, quoted firmly before work begins, so a three-metre piece naturally costs more to wash than a hall runner, but you know the figure up front and nothing changes after.
How do you actually dry something three metres long right through?
In purpose-built drying conditions at the facility, with airflow reaching the foundation until every layer is dry, checked before release. A deck or a sunny day cannot finish the middle of a big rug, which is why home-dried pieces so often develop a musty stripe down the centre.
Can our place and the in-laws at Cashmere go on the same day?
Easily, since both sit on the same hills run. Each address books its own form, the driver collects from both doors on the scheduled day, and any address sending more than one rug gets $20 off every rug after its first.
The dogs come inside every storm and the rug pays for it. Does dog urine wash out of big wool rugs?
It does, at any size. Urine settles into the foundation and stays chemically active, sharpening on every humid day, and no surface product reaches it. We submerge the whole rug at Yatala, flush the residue out, treat the source with enzymes and dry the piece through the middle. Storm season can continue; the rug no longer keeps score.
After the last storm week the spare room rug smells of mildew. Too far gone?
Usually not, if it gets to us soon. Early mildew washes out fully, treatment deals with what the damp started, and complete drying stops the relapse. Wait a season and the answer gets less cheerful, so note the smell on the form and get the rug on the next run.
