Sheldon spreads nearly 23 square kilometres of ridge and bushland and keeps its houses deliberately scarce: architect designs and sprawling family homes on blocks of a hectare and more, with long driveways, pools, sheds and often horses. Most of the suburb is conservation country, part of the koala bushland network managed jointly by two councils and the state parks service, and the residents accepted dust and driving time as the fair price of living inside it. The rooms in these homes run oversized, formal and casual living both, and the rugs match: big quality wool and designer pieces sized for spaces that suburban furniture stores rarely see. What the canopy does to a rug's year
The forested ridges hold humidity under their canopy through the whole of summer, then swing dusty through a dry winter, and rugs live inside that cycle. Pet Stain and Odour
Between house dogs, stable cats and visiting wildlife, acreage rugs see traffic that suburban pieces never meet. Accidents reach the backing within hours.
Treatment has to reach the same depth the accident did. The immersion bath flushes the rug's foundation, enzymes neutralise what soaked in, and drying to the core removes the humidity trigger that would otherwise revive the odour under the summer canopy. Steam performs honestly on machine-made rugs and dangerously on delicate ones, so every booking is sorted piece by piece. Wool, silk and hand-knotted rugs are routed to the bath with the reasoning laid out, not assumed. Mould Rug Cleaning
Shade, canopy humidity and a resting rug make a reliable recipe for mould. The visible bloom is the smallest part of the problem.
The colony lives in the foundation and ignores surface wiping entirely. The antimicrobial bath clears growth, spores and food source in a single process, then a complete dry-out closes off the damp the colony was living on. Shaded storage rooms grow it quickest, and big rugs hide it longest, so assume nothing and let the inspection answer.

Founded in 1997 by Dr Lyn Bishop with 110 students and six teachers, Sheldon College now teaches from 15 months of age through to Year 12 on a 56 acre semi-rural campus off Taylor Road. Its growth brought science labs, arts and sports complexes and a well-known events centre, and it stands among the largest independent schools in Redland City.

Living inside a koala corridor means accepting the bush's dust and insect life indoors. We handle the dust half, washing it out of Sheldon's rugs by hand down at Yatala.
The Ford Road Conservation Area protects 134 hectares of eucalypt bushland along Buhot Creek, north of Avalon and Ford roads. It links into the Koala Bushland Coordinated Conservation Area, managed cooperatively by Redland and Logan councils with the state parks service, and its trails carry walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders through country the koalas still hold.

Our rugs are oversized. Can you actually handle them?
Yes, comfortably. The van, the wash floor and the drying rooms are all set up for outsized pieces, and heavy wool that most operators refuse is routine work at Yatala. The driver manages the rolling and lifting at your end, so the size never becomes your problem.
A dog urinated on the good wool rug months ago and it still smells in summer. Why?
Because the urine residue sits low in the foundation and summer humidity keeps rehydrating it. Surface products cannot reach that layer. The immersion wash flushes it out, enzymes finish the chemistry at depth, and complete drying removes the seasonal trigger permanently.

Do horses and stables change what a rug needs?
They change what it carries: fine manure dust, hoof oil traces and paddock grit ride boots and dogs indoors, and all of it settles at the rug base. The immersion bath removes the load entirely, and we can suggest a washing rhythm that matches stable-country life.
Is moth damage really a risk in an occupied house?
In bushland suburbs, yes. Moths favour undisturbed wool, the formal room rug under furniture, the piece rolled in a cupboard, and Sheldon's insect life is livelier than suburbia's. The wash ends any infestation at every stage, and the inspection reports damage honestly before you commit.
What happens between pickup and the actual wash?
The driver collects, the rug is inspected at Yatala, and you receive one figure before any washing starts. Approve it and the work proceeds on that number, which never moves afterwards. Every step from door to door is handled by our own team.
