An antique-minded quote, plainly put
A worn rug is not a dirty one, and a dirty rug is not ruined. The driver reads which yours is at pickup, prices the work firmly on size, fibre and condition, and if the kindest thing for a fragile piece is to leave it alone, we say exactly that rather than take the job.

I wanted the Central Asian rug cleaned carefully, especially around the older colours. They gave calm advice and did not make it feel rushed.

Rug Cleaning Woolloongabba, from Dealer Rooms to Cottage Floors
Junction suburb, characterful floors
Woolloongabba sits two kilometres south of the CBD at the point where Logan Road, Stanley Street and Ipswich Road have converged since the 1880s, when trams, trains and four principal shopping streets made it one of Brisbane's busiest commercial centres. The junction character never left. Behind the Victorian shopfronts, the streets hold workers cottages and terraces from that same boom, many renovated by owners who hunt the local dealers for furniture to match, while the hospital precinct and the old commercial spine have filled in with apartments and warehouse conversions. Rugs here skew characterful: vintage and antique pieces found in the precinct, wool on old pine boards, new rugs softening hard-floored units.
Three arterial roads push fine dust and exhaust film that settles into any rug facing the street, and a vacuum only ever lifts the surface layer.
Three roads' worth of dust
The suburb drains toward Norman Creek, and its gully streets hold humid air on still summer nights. The bigger factor is traffic. An immersion wash at Yatala rinses the fibre itself, and the rug comes back completely dry.
Wash or repair, judged separately
Old rugs from the dealer rooms usually need less than their buyers fear. Storage flattens pile and greys colour, and a full wash at Yatala takes the decades off while leaving honest wear alone. Where a fringe or an edge genuinely needs repair, we quote that separately from the wash so each decision stands on its own. It is unhurried work, 29 years practised, and the truck is close by anyway on the day it covers East Brisbane and Dutton Park.

The southside's major hospital, on a site that has cared for people since 1893.
A precinct that runs on shift work needs services that fit around it. Our booking is form-first, the rolled rug goes from your door to the truck, and nobody waits home all day for a van.
The grounds began as the Diamantina Orphanage in 1893, became the Diamantina Hospital for Chronic Diseases in 1901, and were rebuilt as the South Brisbane Hospital, opened on 26 August 1956. In May 1960 it took the name Princess Alexandra after the previous year's royal visit, and today the PA is one of Australia's leading teaching and research hospitals, anchoring the whole Woolloongabba health precinct.

If you found your rug in these dealer rooms, finish the job properly. An immersion wash at Yatala lifts a century of storage dust without touching the character that made you buy it.
When horse trams started running up Logan Road in 1887, this was already one of Brisbane's four principal shopping districts, with drapers, chemists, saddlers and produce merchants trading from the Victorian buildings that still line the street. Those same shopfronts now house the antique dealers and vintage stores that give Woolloongabba its browsing reputation, with the big antique centre rooms nearby stocking everything from deco furniture to old rugs.
The 1889 corner pub on Ipswich Road, famous as Brisbane's worst vegetarian restaurant.
The Norman thrives on doing one thing extremely well and saying so plainly. We wash rugs. That has been the whole business for 29 years, and the quote is as straight as the tagline.
Robert Heaslop bought the land in 1885 from Elizabeth Qualtrough, whose name is on the street beside it, and spent 3,500 pounds building a grand hotel designed by John Beauchamp Nicholson and named for the incoming governor, Sir Henry Norman. It opened in 1890, joined the Queensland Heritage Register in 2005, and since 1988 has run one of Australia's best-known steakhouses under a tagline that tells you exactly what it is.

The junction's usual questions
I just bought an old rug from a dealer on Logan Road. Wash it or leave it?
Usually wash it. Storage dust dulls colour and abrades fibre, and an immersion wash lifts decades of it without touching the wear that gives the piece its character. The driver will confirm the rug can take it before we commit.
Is the hospital end of the suburb on your route?
All of Woolloongabba is, apartments included. Collections are form-booked and door-based, so shift workers do not need to be home: a rolled rug left with the concierge or a neighbour works fine.
Can you fix damage as well as clean?
Yes. Fringes, edges, worn spots and moth damage are repaired at the facility, and we quote the repair separately from the wash so you can decide each on its merits.
Do East Brisbane and Dutton Park ride the same truck?
They do, which is handy for families and renovators with more than one address in the inner south. Combined bookings take $20 off every rug after the first.
What if the wash uncovers a problem we did not know about?
We stop and call. Old rugs sometimes hide dry rot, earlier repairs or unstable dyes, and you decide the next step before any extra work or cost. The 48-hour re-wash guarantee still applies after delivery.
Our renovation dog marked the vintage rug. Can urine be removed from an older piece?
Yes, and age does not change the method, only the care taken. The smell lives in residue at the base of the rug, and immersion washing at Yatala removes that source entirely rather than masking it. Dye stability is checked first on vintage pieces, and we tell you if anything argues against the wash.
