The figure is settled while you are standing there
A rug this considered deserves a quote that is not a guess. The driver reads the piece at your door, tells you the number, and that number holds through the wash whatever it turns out to involve. If the honest answer is that it should not be washed, you get that answer instead.

Rug washing Sunshine Beach, on the Noosa coast's chosen address
A name selected rather than inherited
The stretch of coast south of the Noosa headland was known as Golden Beach before it was marketed as Sunshine Beach after the Second World War by Marcus Burke, son of the developer Thomas Marcus Burke. That is a rarer origin than it sounds. Most place names along this coast come from a Kabi or Gubbi Gubbi word, or from a settler, or from something that grew here. This one was picked by the family selling the land, one sunny-sounding name traded for another because it read better. Whatever anyone thinks of that, it tells you something true about the address: this has been a considered place since before the first houses went up. Sunshine Beach is Noosa Shire, part of the Noosa district rather than the Maroochy one, and covers only 1.9 square kilometres between Noosa Heads, Sunrise Beach and the Coral Sea.
Somebody chose this rug. Somebody chose where it sits and what it sits on. The wash it gets should involve the same amount of thought.
Designer pieces, and managers who need them right between seasons
The district research names this suburb and Noosa Heads together as the premium market on the whole coast: architect homes and high-end holiday lets, where the rug was selected by a designer and somebody managing the property needs it cleaned properly between seasons. Both of those are our work, and they have different pressures. A designer-specified piece is often a genuine hand knotted rug with real value in it, so the assessment matters more than usual and getting the dye behaviour right matters even more. A high-turnover let has a calendar instead, and the question is whether we can get a rug back down before the next booking. The answer to the second is usually yes on our standard turnaround and always yes with the express option. The answer to the first is that a good rug gets read carefully before anything touches it.
A narrow strip with sea on one side and nothing sheltering it
Wedged between the Noosa headland and the open Coral Sea, this is a beachfront locality with salt and sand at every door and not much standing between the water and the front rooms. Architect houses with large areas of glazing add their own condensation load in the cooler months, and holiday-let turnover means doors and windows are opened and shut on somebody else's schedule rather than a resident's. Salt is the part that does the lasting damage, because it dissolves, draws moisture from the air and keeps the base of a rug faintly damp long after the top feels dry. Density here runs at 1,310 people per square kilometre on 1.9 square kilometres, so houses sit close and air moves less between them than the beachfront suggests. Immersion lifts salt and sand out of the pile together, and the rug then dries flat in our controlled room instead of on a balcony above the surf.

Where a Noosa coast rug is actually handled
This is the longest run we make and none of it is charged to you. Sunshine Beach is collected on the Noosa leg with Noosa Heads and Castaways Beach, and the window is confirmed once the day's stops are sequenced.
A rebranded beach, a late surf club, and no room left to build
A Noosa Shire address that filled its own small footprint carefully and then stopped.
This stretch of coast south of the Noosa headland was known as Golden Beach before being marketed as Sunshine Beach after the Second World War by Marcus Burke, son of the developer Thomas Marcus Burke.
An address chosen this deliberately by the people who built it tends to be full of furnishings chosen just as deliberately, and a considered rug is the sort we most want to see before it is written off.
The rename was a deliberate commercial decision by the family developing the land, one sunny-sounding name traded for another rather than an Aboriginal word or a historical reference being adopted. That makes it a genuinely different kind of naming story from almost everywhere else along this coast, where the name usually came from the country or from a person who worked it.
Sunshine Beach Surf Life Saving Club did not begin patrols until the 1980/81 season, decades after the beach itself had been subdivided and developed, and the Noosa Aquatic Centre is now also based in the suburb.
A community that added its own institutions one at a time over a generation is full of long-settled households, and long-settled households are where the best rugs usually are.
Civic infrastructure filled in steadily rather than all at once. Sunshine Beach State School opened in 1982, St Thomas More's Primary School in 1990 and Sunshine Beach State High School in 1992, while three churches followed within roughly a decade of each other: St Andrew's Anglican in 1990, St Thomas More's Catholic in 1994 and Sunshine Beach Uniting in 1997.
The population held close to steady between census counts, 2,460 in 2016 and 2,480 in 2021, packed into 1.9 square kilometres at a density of 1,310 people per square kilometre.
A suburb that is finished rather than filling means our Noosa leg covers every street of it in one pass, so the collection day here is reliable rather than approximate.
Bounded by Noosa Heads on one side, Sunrise Beach on the other and the sea on the third, this suburb has effectively no room to expand outward. The premium architect homes and holiday lets here fill the available land tightly rather than spreading, which is why the population barely moves while the value of what sits inside those houses keeps climbing.

Sunshine Beach questions, answered plainly
The rug was specified by our interior designer. Are you the right people for it?
Yes, and pieces like that are the reason the assessment comes before anything else. A designer-specified rug is often genuinely hand knotted with real value in it, so we read the knot, the foundation and how the dyes behave before a drop of water is involved. Where a rug should not go in the bath, we say so rather than find out the hard way.
How does pricing work for a Sunshine Beach rug?
It comes off the piece in front of us. Construction, size and condition settle the figure, both driver trips are inside it already, and nothing is added afterwards. A rug we do not believe is worth the cost of the work gets told that plainly rather than quoted.
We manage a holiday let and need it back before the next booking. Is that realistic?
Usually yes. Standard turnaround is around 7 days from collection to delivery, which fits most changeover gaps comfortably. Where the gap is tighter than that, there is a 48-hour express service at an additional charge. Tell us the date on the first call and we will tell you honestly whether it works.
Does being right on the beach matter more than being a street back?
It changes the balance rather than the problem. Front-row houses take more salt, and salt holds damp in the base of a rug indefinitely because it draws moisture from the air. Houses up the hill trade some of that for condensation off large glazing in cooler months. Both end up in the foundation, and both come out in the same bath.
A guest's dog has urinated on a wool rug in a let. Can that be dealt with properly?
Yes, and dealing with it properly means reaching the backing, because that is where urine dries and where the smell keeps coming from. Nothing applied to the surface gets down there. Full immersion flushes the source out, enzymes break down the compounds behind the odour, and a controlled dry stops a humid week bringing it back for the next guest.
Do you collect at Noosa Heads, Noosa Junction and Castaways Beach too?
All three are on the Noosa leg with us, along with Noosaville, Marcus Beach and Tewantin. This is the longest run we make and it is still free at both ends. Where a household or a manager has several pieces going at once, every rug after the first has $20 off.
