What this locality actually is
Kunda Park had twenty two residents at the 2021 census, down from twenty seven in 2016, across two point nine square kilometres. That works out at seven and a half people per square kilometre and it is not an error. Its own sourcing describes it as an industrial suburb, and that is how this page treats it. What is here is light industry, workshops, offices and showrooms, the Maroochydore Regional Football Complex, a Maroochydore Fire and Emergency Services station, grazing land, and several bushland conservation reserves. It sits five kilometres northwest of Buderim and five and a half kilometres west of Maroochydore, bounded by Diddillibah, Kuluin, Forest Glen and Buderim. There is no residential bustle to describe and we are not going to invent any. There is a great deal of work happening, and a good deal of that work happens on rugs.
Twenty two people live here. Several hundred more come here to work, and their rugs count just as much.

The rug mix on this stretch is unlike anywhere else on our Sunshine Coast run. Reception areas hold pieces chosen to make a first impression and then walked on by every visitor for a decade. Directors' offices hold real wool, often better wool than the average house on the plateau, sitting under a chair on castors that cut the same arc a thousand times a year. Showrooms have display rugs that are part of the stock. Workshops have entrance matting doing the hardest work of all. Alongside that, the small number of households here get exactly what any household anywhere gets from us, no less attention because there are fewer of them. Commercial or domestic, the piece is assessed on what it is and what has happened to it, never on the type of address it left.
Wet ground on one boundary, dry concrete on the other
Eudlo Creek Conservation Park runs along the northwestern edge of the locality and holds moisture in the ground the way creek-fed bushland always does. A few hundred metres away the built streets are hard surfaced and drain fast. That gives a genuine split character across a very small footprint, and it shows up in the rugs. Pieces from buildings on the reserve side carry damp in the base and are the ones that turn up with a musty note or the beginnings of growth along an edge. Pieces from the harder middle of the locality carry dry grit and oil instead. Submersion washing deals with both, because it removes what is trapped in the foundation rather than what is sitting on the surface, and the controlled drying room afterwards is what stops the damp side of the problem coming straight back.

The locality was known informally as Crete until the government officially named it Kunda Park on 1 May 1975, from a Kabi word for the cabbage tree palm.
A name changed once, on purpose, for a reason grounded in what grew on the ground is the kind of considered decision we try to bring to every rug we take on.
Gunda or konda, believed to be the root of the official name, describes the cabbage tree palm once common along this part of the plateau. It is a deliberate choice of a local plant name over an inherited informal one, and unlike many renamings on this coast there is no recorded dispute or confusion behind it, simply an informal name giving way to a gazetted one.
With 22 residents across 2.9 square kilometres at the 2021 census, this is a working locality, home to the Maroochydore Regional Football Complex and a fire and emergency services station.

Do you take on commercial rugs, not just household ones?
Yes, and on this stretch commercial is the larger share of what we collect. Reception pieces, boardroom wool, showroom display rugs and entrance matting all go through, though matting usually by a different method since it is machine made. Everything is quoted the same way: inspected first, one figure, no movement afterwards.
Can you collect outside trading hours?
Collection happens on the scheduled plateau run day, and we confirm the window with you once the day's route is set rather than promising a time up front. Tell us where the rug will be and who will be there, and the driver works to that. A roller door or a locked reception is fine as long as someone can meet us.
How is a rug from a Kunda Park business priced?
