Kiels Mountain covers 4.6 square kilometres 9.2 kilometres southeast of Nambour and 10.4 kilometres west of Maroochydore, with its own mountain rising to 153 metres. Woombye, Diddillibah and Forest Glen surround it on three sides, which puts it inside the same Buderim plateau cluster as two of those. The population was 657 at the 2011 census, 664 in 2016 and 714 in 2021, steady growth across three consecutive counts at about 155 people per square kilometre. There is no shopping strip and no centre of its own here. Households use Woombye or Nambour for that, and the streets stay residential and quiet as a result. Being surrounded on three sides by established neighbours has kept the character of the place settled while the numbers have climbed.

A settler's name, anglicised around 1930
The locality takes its name from Heinrich August Keil, known as Henry, who selected land on the mountain's eastern slopes in 1880 after already becoming the first settler at Diddillibah in 1869. The spelling was anglicised from Keil's to Kiels Mountain around 1930, so the ground has carried some version of his name for well over a century. Kiel's Mountain State School operated from 23 September 1918 until 15 April 1962, and there has been no school inside the locality since. Avatar's Abode, a 99-acre retreat dedicated to Meher Baba, sits on the mountain, and Baba himself stayed there in 1958, which is an unusual thread to find running through a small plateau locality. Between the retreat, the old school site and Woombye's timber-town streets just below, this is a district with more history than its size suggests.

The rise between Woombye and Diddillibah catches the same plateau cloud and rainfall its neighbours get, and then holds on to it longer, because tree cover on the slopes keeps the air underneath still. Flatter ground toward Maroochydore clears hours earlier. In a rug that shows up as damp held down near the foundation for weeks on end, which takes the spring out of wool, hands growth an opening and gives odour somewhere to settle that no amount of housework reaches. Nothing on a block up here will dry a large rug properly, whatever the intention. A full immersion wash strips the ground-in soil and that held humidity out together, and the drying room at Yatala finishes the piece in conditions the slope simply cannot provide. Pet Stain and Odour
Dogs on a bushy slope block are outside all day and inside all evening, and urine ends up down in the backing.
It is not a pile problem, which is why nothing applied to the pile ever finishes it. The urine dried in the foundation and it stays live in this air. Water has to move through the whole rug to reach it, an enzyme stage has to take away what the odour feeds on, and the drying has to be controlled, because canopy air on this rise will not dry anything reliably.

Odour Removal
Tree cover holds air still on these slopes, and still air is what turns a faint note in a room into a permanent one.
Odour needs moisture and time, and this ground supplies both. It binds to residue at the base of a pile, out of reach of any amount of ventilation, and it does not clear on its own. Immersion dissolves that residue and the rinse water removes it entirely. Nothing scented is added at the end, because a fragrance over the top is a fortnight's delay rather than a fix.

Our driveway is steep and narrow. Is that a problem for collection?

How is the price arrived at?
