One number for Mary Valley grazing rugs
No estimate over the phone from a locality this far out. The rug is looked at properly on the day, size, fibre and condition set the figure, and the drive up the valley is already accounted for.

Rug cleaning Kidaman Creek, deep in the Mary Valley
A locality with two creeks and not much else
Kidaman Creek covers 27.8 square kilometres 11.7 kilometres southeast of Kenilworth, 18.3 kilometres north-northwest of Maleny and 28.5 kilometres west of Nambour. Its neighbours are Kenilworth, Coolabine, Obi Obi and Curramore. Obi Obi Creek, a tributary of the Mary River, runs through the northeast of the locality, and Kidaman Creek itself rises in the southeast and joins it in the north. The population was 130 at the 2016 census and 125 at the 2021 census. Land use is predominantly grazing on native vegetation with a small amount of crop growing and some rural-residential housing. There is no shopping strip and no centre, and we would rather write that than invent one. What the locality does have is properties that are genuinely worked, and the rugs inside them have usually been down a long time.
A hundred and twenty-five people, no shop and no school. None of that is a reason to do the rug differently.
A hall rebuilt after a storm, and a school long gone
The public hall opened in 1921, stood for seventy-four years, and was destroyed by a storm in March 1995. The district rebuilt it rather than letting the gathering place go, reopening in October 1998, and the rebuilt hall was eventually sold in April 2008. The Obi Obi and Kidaman Creek Community Hall at 856 Obi Obi Road, in neighbouring Obi Obi, serves the district now. Kidaman Creek State School opened in 1914 and closed around 1958, forty-four years of local schooling, and families here now use Kenilworth State Community College, Mapleton State School or Maleny State School, none of which is inside the locality. A postal receiving office opened in November 1922 and a post office ran from July 1927 to the end of 1930. Almost everything on that list is something the district used to have, which is the honest shape of a place this size.
Valley damp that never really lifts
This is deep Mary Valley hinterland. Cool air comes down off the range, moisture rises off the creek flats on two sides of the locality, and the two meet over grazing country that holds them both. It is not a seasonal problem, it is the standing condition, and through the cooler months it means a wool rug on a farmhouse floor carries damp continuously rather than occasionally. That flattens the pile, gives growth a permanent opening and lets odour settle in at the base where nothing in the house will reach it. Immersion lifts embedded soil and valley damp out of the wool at once. It is then dried flat under conditions we set at Yatala, because nowhere on a property up here will do that job reliably.

Premier Rug Cleaning Sunshine Coast
The listing covers a service area rather than a shopfront. Nobody drives a rug anywhere: the van comes up the valley, and the wash itself happens at Yatala.
What happens after the gate closes
It is a long way and none of it lands on your figure. Kidaman Creek is collected on the hinterland range loop with Obi Obi and Kenilworth, and the window is confirmed once that day is scheduled.
A rebuilt hall, a school that ran forty-four years, and two creeks
Three sourced facts about a locality with no centre of its own.
The public hall opened in 1921, was destroyed by a storm in March 1995, and the community rebuilt it, reopening in October 1998.
A community that rebuilds its own hall after a storm rather than letting it go is the same instinct we bring to a rug that has been in a family a long time.
The hall stood for seventy-four years before the 1995 storm took it, and the district's response was to rebuild rather than let the gathering place go, which took three and a half years. The rebuilt hall was eventually sold in April 2008, and the Obi Obi and Kidaman Creek Community Hall at 856 Obi Obi Road, in neighbouring Obi Obi, serves the district instead today.
Kidaman Creek State School opened in 1914 and closed around 1958, one generation's worth of schooling in a district that has stayed genuinely small ever since.
A district honest about no longer having its own school, shop or centre gets described honestly here too, with the same full attention on every rug regardless of how small the place is.
Forty-four years is a long time for a school in a place this size, and its closure follows the same pattern as the other Maleny-side outliers on this run. Families here now send students to Kenilworth State Community College, Mapleton State School or Maleny State School, and none of those is inside the locality itself. A postal receiving office opened in November 1922 and a post office ran from July 1927 until the end of 1930.
Kidaman Creek rises in the southeast of the locality and runs north to meet Obi Obi Creek, a tributary of the Mary River, shaping 27.8 square kilometres of grazing land.
Working grazing properties this size carry genuine wool rugs worth the trip, and a Maleny-side outlier this quiet is exactly where a range loop earns its keep.
Land use is predominantly grazing on native vegetation with a small amount of crop growing, which makes this a working landscape rather than a residential one, with 125 residents counted at the last census across nearly twenty-eight square kilometres. It is one of the sparsest localities on this run, and there is no point writing it up as anything else.

Kidaman Creek questions, answered plainly
Do you really come out to a locality with 125 people in it?
Yes. Kidaman Creek is on the hinterland range loop we drive with Obi Obi and Kenilworth, so the trip is part of a scheduled day. Pickup and delivery are included, the van comes down onto the property, and the window is confirmed once that day is locked in.
There is no shop and nowhere to drop a rug. How does it work?
The driver comes to you, which is how it works everywhere on this run but matters more here. The rug is rolled at the house, loaded, and brought back the same way. Nothing needs to be taken anywhere, and there is no counter involved at any point.
How is the figure set?
At the property, from the rug. Size, fibre and the condition it is in decide it, the two trips up the valley are already inside the number, and it stays the same on the invoice. If the work would cost more than the piece is worth, that gets said before it is loaded.
The dogs have urinated on the wool rug over a long time. Can it be saved?
Often, and the deciding factor is the foundation rather than the pile. Urine dries in the backing, layer on layer, which is why anything sprayed on top stops working within days. Full immersion reaches that layer, an enzyme stage takes away the source, and any dye movement from repeated wetting is described honestly at the assessment.
Do you also collect from Kenilworth, Obi Obi and Coolabine?
Yes, and from Cambroon, Conondale and Maleny on the same loop. Properties up here genuinely should coordinate a day where they can, given the driving involved, and every rug after the first is $20 off.
How long will we be without it?
Around a week once the driving at both ends is allowed for. A 48 hour express option exists at additional cost where a date will not move. Neither version shortens the drying, which matters more here than almost anywhere, because a rug returned damp into this valley will not stay right.
