One figure, whether it is a Persian or a unit rug
The rug decides the price rather than the address, and the number arrives after somebody has looked at it properly. Once set, it is the number on the invoice at the other end.

Rug washing for the whole of Indooroopilly
Grand houses on the ridge, apartments at the centre
Indooroopilly covers 7.8 square kilometres from the higher ground down to the Brisbane River, which wraps its southern boundary, and 13,622 people lived here at the 2021 census, making it one of the biggest suburbs on our western route. The housing mix is the widest in the west by a comfortable margin: grand old homes along the high streets, interwar houses on the slopes, and a dense band of apartments and townhouses around the station and the shopping centre. That mix produces two very different collections. Full-size Persians in houses held by the same family for decades, and good wool rugs softening rented units where the owner has one piece they actually care about. Both get the same reading and the same wash floor.
An apartment rug works as hard as a house rug and gets washed half as often.
Ridge streets dry, river flats do not
The suburb falls from dry ridge streets down to humid river flats, and the lower a house sits the longer damp hangs about in it after rain. Apartments manage the opposite extreme and arrive at a similar result: closed rooms, air conditioning cycling on and off, and rug pile that never once gets a proper airing from one year to the next. Both conditions put something into a rug that stays there. On the flats it is moisture working into the foundation season after season; in a sealed unit it is everything the room does with nowhere for it to go. Full immersion rinses out whichever of the two you have been living with, and controlled drying at Yatala returns every piece completely dry, which on a rug that lives indoors permanently is the part that makes the result last.
Collections that fit around office hours
Half the west passes through Indooroopilly in any given week and our pickup route does the same, which makes this one of our steadiest western collections. It is roughly 45 kilometres and usually 40 to 45 minutes to the wash floor: onto the Western Freeway and Centenary Motorway, then the Logan and the M1, and then the exit that drops down onto Computer Road. Booking is a form rather than a phone call, which suits households where nobody is home between eight and six. Rolled rugs come out of unit lobbies without fuss, and if the building needs a code or a particular entrance, note it when you book and it travels with the job to the driver. Nothing about living three floors up should make this harder than it is for a house.

Where an Indooroopilly rug goes
This suburb anchors the western route, and that is what makes both trips free from here. Your collection window follows once the day's calls have been put in order.
A name from the gullies, a mine turned classroom, and the centre
The suburb the whole west drives to.
A name most likely drawn from words for a leech gully or running water.
A name this bound up with water suits the suburb where we collect more rugs than almost anywhere in the west. Water, handled properly, is also exactly how those rugs get clean.
Indooroopilly is recorded as most likely a corruption of either nyindurupilli, meaning gully of the leeches, or yindurupilli, meaning gully of running water, from the languages of the Jagera and Turrbal peoples whose country this is. Either way the name belongs to the creeks and gullies that still thread their way down through the suburb toward the river.
Finney's Hill ran a silver mine from 1919, then taught engineers for decades.
A place that turned a worked-out mine into a teaching tool understood getting full value from an asset. That is our whole pitch for a good rug: washed properly, it keeps serving for decades.
The Indooroopilly Silver Mine opened at Finney's Hill in 1919 and worked until 1929, when the ore stopped paying. The second act is the better one: in 1951 the University of Queensland took the mine over as an experimental teaching mine for its engineering students, and the site went on to host mineral research for decades afterwards. Not many Brisbane suburbs can say their local mine became a classroom.
The west's retail anchor opened its first stage in 1970.
Half the west passes through here weekly, and our pickup route does too. The houses and apartments around the centre are among the most regular collections we make anywhere in the west.
Indooroopilly Shoppingtown opened its first stage in 1970 and has grown ever since, described today as the largest shopping centre in Brisbane's western suburbs. It made this the place the whole leafy west drives to, a role the suburb has never given back, and the streets around it now carry the apartments and offices that came along with the job.

Indooroopilly questions from houses and units
Can you collect a rug from an apartment?
Yes, and a fair share of our work here is exactly that. The driver meets you wherever the building allows, at the door, in the lobby or down in the car park, and rolls the rug there. Note the access arrangement on the booking form and it goes to the driver with the job, so nothing needs explaining on the day.
How much does rug cleaning in Indooroopilly cost?
The rug decides rather than the address: dimensions, fibre, construction and condition on arrival. Hand knotting takes a great deal longer on the floor than machine weaving does, and the figure reflects that plainly. A single price comes out of the inspection and stays there, with the route covering both legs.
Can a Persian rug be washed without risking the dyes?
Yes, and the safeguard is testing rather than confidence. Dye stability is checked before any water appears, the bath runs at the pH that fibre requires, and every stage is done by hand. Where the test finds a dye that will not hold, you are told, and the low moisture route is offered rather than pressing on and hoping.
Our cat urinated on a wool rug in the unit. Can that be removed?
Yes, when the treatment goes as deep as the urine went, which is the foundation. Nothing applied to the surface travels that far, and that is why a spray quietens things for a few weeks before humidity brings it back. Immersion carries the residue out, enzymes settle the rest, and full drying leaves nothing behind.
How often should a rug in a closed apartment be washed?
More often than most owners assume, because a sealed room gives pile no chance to air out between cleans. There is no fixed interval and anybody quoting one is guessing, but if the colour has flattened or the room has picked up a note you cannot place, the rug is usually the reason and it is time.
Do you also collect from Taringa, St Lucia and Toowong?
We do, along with Chapel Hill, Kenmore and the rest of the leafy west on that same scheduled day. Neighbours or family nearby can therefore put several rugs onto a single booking, and $20 comes off every rug after the first one.
