This ground originally formed part of Brookfield. In 1969 the name was changed to Kenmore Hills, taken from the neighbouring suburb, and Kenmore Hills was established as a suburb in its own right in 1975. A heritage complex whose main house began life in 1890s Toowong.

At the crest of a gentle hill off Brookfield Road stands the Old Friary. Its main house is built around a section of an 1890 to 1891 Toowong residence called Glen Olive, brought out here in 1924 and wrapped in a new verandah and roof to serve as a family home. Part of the property passed to Franciscan communities in 1933, St Clare's Cottage was added in 1936 along with a chapel, and Brisbane City Council recognised the complex on its heritage register in 2017.
