Riverview covers 7.8 square kilometres 10.7 kilometres northeast of the Ipswich CBD and 31.2 kilometres southwest of Brisbane. The dyes get their own test, in a corner nobody will ever see, because a colour that has never been wet in forty years has never been tested either. Only then is a method chosen. The railway stop of 1875 took the name Riverview in 1881, for exactly what it says.

When it was just a stopping place on the line in 1875, the station here carried the name of the river crossing nearby. Six years later, in 1881, it was renamed Riverview for its outlook over the Brisbane River, and the district adopted the station's new name and has held it since. Not many suburbs can point at the reason for their name from the platform. This one still can.
The Catholic college above the motorway has taught the corridor since 1976.

St Peter Claver College opened on 5 August 1976 and grew into the corridor's Catholic secondary school, teaching close to a thousand students by 2018 and drawing families from Riverview, Redbank, Dinmore and the estates beyond.
