One quote for one rug or fifty mats
Most Pinkenba work is commercial, and commercial clients want numbers, not adjectives. Tell us what is on the floors, the driver confirms size, fibre and condition at collection, and the price holds. The village pocket gets the same treatment on the same run, one cottage rug at a time.

Rug Washing Pinkenba, Between the Wharves and the Village
A village pocket inside a working suburb
Pinkenba runs along the northern bank of the Brisbane River where it opens into Moreton Bay, and its name comes from the Turrbal word binkinba, place of the land tortoise. Only a few hundred people live here, most of them in the old timber pocket off Eagle Farm Road where workers cottages survive from the river trade era. The rest of the suburb works for a living: fuel terminals, logistics yards, wharves, and the offices, crew rooms and venues that serve them. That mix sets our job list. One week it is a cottage wool rug from the village, the next it is every entry mat in a terminal office.
Surface cleaning smears that mixture around.
The heaviest soil on any of our runs
Floors out here carry a particular load. Bay humidity rides in salty, and diesel and industrial dust follow every vehicle movement, so mats and rugs near doorways take on some of the heaviest soil we collect anywhere. Immersion washing at our Yatala facility rinses salt, grit and oily residue out of the fibre itself, and complete drying before return matters twice as much in salt air.
Timetables since 1897, and ours keeps the habit
Pinkenba has organised itself around schedules for longer than almost anywhere in Brisbane: trains to the riverbank from 1897, ships at the wharf from 1898, and now cruise liners turning around at Luggage Point on days planned to the minute. Facility managers out here think in timetables, and we fit straight in. Mats and rugs are collected rolled across multiple sites in one pass of the corridor run, the wash happens at Yatala on a firm seven day standard, and the paid 48 hour express exists for the foyer that cannot sit bare. The village pocket rides the same schedule, one cottage wool rug at a time.

Where your rug is washed
Three markers of the working river
A cruise terminal, a century-old rail corridor and the township the suburb absorbed.
Queensland's home port for cruise ships, opened at Luggage Point in 2020.
A turnaround day is a logistics exercise, and so is our week: rugs collected rolled, washed at Yatala on a firm schedule, and returned dry and on time, for venues, offices and homes alike.
The terminal sits on Pinkenba's Myrtletown side, right where the Brisbane River meets the bay, and opened in 2020 as the city's first dedicated home port for the biggest cruise ships. On turnaround days thousands of passengers move through a quiet industrial suburb most of them never learn the name of.
The line from Ascot arrived in 1897, the wharf followed in 1898, and the corridor still works.
This suburb has moved freight on schedule since 1897. Facility managers here trust us across multiple sites for the same reason: collection on the day we set, a wash at Yatala, and return inside the standard seven days.
A spur soon ran straight onto the wharf, and for most of a century the line hauled produce, fuel and workers to the riverbank. Passenger trains finished in 1993, but the corridor still serves the industrial estates that grew up around it.
The river-mouth farming township absorbed into Pinkenba in 1975.
Eras change out here and the furnishings keep working. A cottage rug from the village pocket and fifty entry mats from a terminal office meet the same wash standard at Yatala.
Myrtletown grew from the 1870s with a school that opened in 1875 as Boggy Creek School and was later renamed Myrtle, and the Myrtle Hotel followed in 1896 for local farmers and river workers. The township joined Pinkenba in 1975, and its name survives on the reserve and the maps while the cruise terminal occupies its old riverfront.

Pinkenba practicalities
Can you service several buildings in one booking?
Yes, and out here it is the normal way. List the sites and what is on their floors, and the driver collects rolled mats and rugs across the precinct in one stop. Each piece after the first is $20 off.
Do you take small cottage jobs, or only commercial work?
Both, gladly. The village pocket's wool rugs ride the same run as the terminal mats and get the gentler end of the wash floor at Yatala.
How do you get diesel film and salt out of the fibre?
By washing the whole rug in water rather than sponging the surface. Immersion dissolves the salt and lifts the oily film that binds dust, and the drying rooms finish the job before anything comes back.
Is there a set pickup day for this corner of Brisbane?
Pinkenba rides the airport-corridor schedule with Brisbane Airport and Eagle Farm next door. Book by form and we confirm the window once that day's run is locked in.
What is the turnaround for a business that cannot wait?
Seven days standard, door to door. If the foyer cannot sit bare that long, the 48-hour express exists at extra cost, and we will say honestly whether your job suits it.
The office dog has christened the reception rug more than once. Lost cause?
No. Urine works down to the backing, which is why every surface treatment tried so far has failed by the following week. The fix is removing the residue at its source in a full immersion wash, and the reception piece can ride the corridor run with the entry mats. If the dyes are already marked, you hear that at assessment, not on the invoice.
