Honest numbers for big country rugs
Bigger rugs carry a bigger figure than small ones, and a much smaller one than most owners brace for. The figure is settled at inspection and there is nothing added at the far end.

Rug washing across Logan's growth front
Two ways of living, one suburb
Park Ridge covers 16.8 square kilometres about 34.5 kilometres south of the city, running between the Mount Lindesay Highway and Chambers Flat Road with Park Ridge Road crossing east to west, and the 2021 census counted 8,455 people here. It is Logan's development front caught mid-move: acreage blocks and bushland on one street, brand new estates on the next. That gives us the full range inside a single suburb. Established properties with sheds, horses and long driveways send large wool rugs carrying fine paddock dust ground deep into the pile. Estate homes a few hundred metres away send newer pieces collecting slab dust. Pets are on both sides of the fence, tiled living areas are standard in both, and in every one of those houses the rug is doing the household's soft work.
A rug that lives near horses is not dirtier than a suburban one. It is dirtier in a different way.
Dry heat first, then the storms arrive
Open country breathes far better than the inner suburbs do, and the trade-off is dust. Months of dry heat lay fine grit into every rug in the district, and then the summer storm cells that come up this corridor drop their humidity on top of the lot. Dust plus damp is the specific recipe that sets a smell into wool, and it is why so many rugs out here smell faintly of something in autumn that was not there in spring. Neither part of the problem responds to vacuuming, because both are down at the foundation rather than sitting on the surface. Immersion at our Yatala facility removes them together, and the drying that follows is what makes the result hold for another year rather than another month.
Twenty-odd minutes, none of it your problem
Park Ridge sits inside our regular Logan run, roughly 26 kilometres away and generally a twenty-minute-plus drive: out via Chambers Flat Road or the Mount Lindesay Highway, onto the motorway network, and then a southbound leg to reach Yatala. You never drive any of it, which counts for more out here than in most places. A large wool rug off an acreage floor is heavy, awkward and filthy to move, and getting one into a vehicle is a two-person job before it is anything else. Our driver comes up the driveway, lifts it rolled from the house, and delivers it back there once the washing, the long flat dry and the grooming are behind it. If a gate needs a code or the drive is long, that goes on the run sheet with the booking.

The road a Park Ridge rug travels
Park Ridge is a standing call on our Logan run. That is what makes both trips free out here, and we confirm a collection window the moment the day's driving is worked out.
A renaming, a hungry insect and a tripled population
Timber, then tobacco, then estates.
Renamed in the 1890s for the park-like country along the ridge.
A suburb named for how its country looked understands appearances that are honestly earned. A properly washed rug looks right because it is genuinely clean, all the way to the base of the pile.
This district first went by Logan Ridges, and was renamed Park Ridge in the early 1890s because the open forest country here looked like parkland. The name described a working landscape: timber-getters came first, farmers followed, and by the 1930s Park Ridge had become the centre of the district's tobacco growing, with drying sheds standing among the paddocks. Farming held on for the better part of a century before estate streets began arriving.
Teaching since 1895, and once moved because white ants ate the building.
Country schools survive by adapting without any fuss about it. The same philosophy runs our trade: 29 years of washing by hand, the assessment before the work, and every job standing behind a free re-wash guarantee.
Park Ridge Provisional School opened on 23 April 1895 for the ridge's scattered farm families and was granted state school status on the first day of 1909. In 1915 it had to relocate for the most Queensland of reasons: white ants had eaten the building. It moved, rebuilt and kept teaching, and it has now served the district for 130 years, joined by Park Ridge State High School in January 1991 when the modern growth began.
Park Ridge more than tripled between the 2016 and 2021 censuses.
Half of Park Ridge is furnishing new homes and the other half is maintaining old ones. We wash for both, new rugs full of construction dust and old rugs full of paddock grit, with $20 coming off each extra piece.
The 2016 census counted 2,503 people in Park Ridge. By 2021 the count was 8,455, more than tripled in five years, as estate streets pushed out across the old farm and acreage country. The suburb is one of Logan's designated growth fronts, and the change is visible street by street: new parks, new shops and new schools arriving around acreage properties that have been here for generations.

Park Ridge questions from both sides of the fence
How much dirt does an acreage rug actually hold?
Considerably more than it looks, and the first rinse is usually the proof. Several kilograms of dry soil can be sitting in the foundation of a big country rug while the surface still reads as nothing worse than tired. Hence the dry stage first, because putting water on loose soil only makes mud of it.
How is a Park Ridge acreage rug priced?
It follows the rug: dimensions first, then fibre, construction and condition. Large is normal out here, which affects the figure, and good wool is also normal, which works in your favour. One figure comes out of the inspection, both trips are already part of the day's driving, and it does not change afterwards.
Do you actually come up long driveways?
Yes. The driver collects from the house rather than the road, because a heavy rolled rug is not something anybody should be dragging to a front gate. If there is a gate code, a dog to be aware of, or a preferred entrance, put it on the booking form and it travels with the job.
An old dog has urinated on our lounge rug. Is it worth saving?
Usually yes, and the answer depends on how deep it went rather than how long ago it happened. Urine settles into the foundation where nothing sprayed on top can follow, which is why damp weather keeps bringing the smell back. A full soak clears it out, enzymes settle the remainder, and drying the rug right out stops the whole thing restarting.
Do Regents Park, Crestmead and Browns Plains share the same day?
They do, along with Heritage Park, Hillcrest and Marsden. It is one scheduled Logan day, so properties along the same roads can send rugs together, and there is $20 off each rug once the first one is counted.
Can you handle a rug that has been rolled up in a shed for years?
Often, though what happened while it was in there decides the outcome. Damp storage invites mould and moths. Both are treatable; the structural damage either can leave behind is not. The rug is assessed on arrival, we walk you through exactly what turned up, and the recommendation comes before any money moves.
