Inspected first, then costed once
Nobody quotes a rug they have not seen. The driver looks at the fibre, the foundation and the colour at your door, a figure follows from that, and it is the same figure on the invoice. Where a rug is not worth the money we tell you at the same moment.

Rug washing Nunderi, on the crowded middle of our valley leg
Count the neighbours and you have described the place
There is a straightforward way to explain where Nunderi sits, which is to list what touches it. Kielvale, Condong, Farrants Hill, Clothiers Creek, Eviron, Wardrop Valley, Reserve Creek, Tygalgah, Dulguigan and Murwillumbah South all border it or sit within a few kilometres, and Fernvale in the Tweed Valley turns up as a further neighbour when you check from the other direction. That is ten small localities converging on one point, which is unusual even by the standards of this valley, where names change every couple of kilometres. Several of those names are already regular stops for us. What it produces on the ground is a village that feels connected rather than remote despite being genuinely rural, and a drive into Murwillumbah of about ten minutes for anything the village does not have.
Ten names meeting at one point, and a rug in most of the houses that has never had a proper bath.
Farmhouses and acreage, ten minutes from a town
The housing here is the mix that comes with that position. Farmhouses and acreage blocks sit alongside the smaller holdings that fill in between the neighbouring names, and almost none of it is estate housing. Timber floors are common, and timber floors are where wool rugs belong. The pattern we see repeatedly is a good rug bought once, laid down, and then walked on daily for fifteen or twenty years by a household that comes in from outside work. Structurally those rugs are usually excellent. Cosmetically they look finished. That gap between how a rug is and how it looks is the most useful thing a hand wash addresses, and telling you which side of it you are on is the first job, before any figure is mentioned.
Caldera air, and what it leaves in the lower pile
Nunderi sits inside the caldera that shapes this whole region's weather, and the practical consequence indoors is straightforward. Air here holds moisture for extended stretches, and while it does, nothing in the house dries out to the base. A rug in that situation is carrying two separate things: soil that has worked its way down over years, and damp sitting under a surface that feels perfectly dry to the hand. The damp announces itself by smell long before there is anything to look at, which is why the first call we take from valley addresses is so often about a room rather than a stain. Both come out in the same treatment. Both come back within a season unless the drying afterwards is properly controlled, and that control is the reason the rug makes the trip north. It is also the difference between a wash that holds for years and one that has to be done again before the next wet season is out, which is worth knowing before anybody spends money on either.

Premier Rug Cleaning and Washing - Northern NSW
The listing covers a service area, not a shopfront with a counter. It shows where we work, a driver comes out to the property, and every rug is bathed at Yatala.
Out of the valley, north to the wash floor
The kilometres are ours. Nunderi is collected with Eviron and Murwillumbah on the same leg, and the pickup window is confirmed once that day is set.
A junction of ten, ten minutes from town, and still growing
One of the better-connected small villages anywhere on our Northern NSW run.
Nunderi borders or sits within a few kilometres of Kielvale, Condong, Farrants Hill, Clothiers Creek, Eviron, Wardrop Valley, Reserve Creek, Tygalgah, Dulguigan and Murwillumbah South.
Knowing which names sit next to which is what lets a driver plan a morning properly instead of doubling back across the valley twice.
Several of those are already regular stops on our valley leg, and Fernvale in the Tweed Valley confirms itself as a further neighbour when the geography is checked from the opposite direction.
Murwillumbah is about ten minutes away by road, close enough for errands, and Nunderi has stayed a genuinely rural village rather than turning into a commuter fringe.
Rural floors and town-frequency traffic together produce a particular kind of wear, and it is the kind a bath fixes rather than a surface clean.
That balance runs through much of this stretch of the valley, where a short drive into town coexists with acreage blocks and working land on both sides of the road.
The population went from 656 at the 2016 census to 696 in 2021, real growth of forty people, which makes Nunderi one of the larger communities in this part of the valley.
A growing village means more households discovering the rug they inherited is worth keeping, which is most of what we are asked to look at here.
Modest as that is, it stands against a run of much smaller neighbours nearby, several of them counted in dozens rather than hundreds.

Nunderi questions, answered without hedging
Do you come out to the junction for a single rug?
Yes, and it is routine. The valley leg passes through on its scheduled day whether one rug is waiting or several, and the distance is not itemised anywhere on your quote. One piece from one farmhouse is a normal stop.
How is the price for a Nunderi rug arrived at?
From the rug in front of the driver. Its construction, its size, what it is made from and what condition it is in. Nothing about the address enters into it. Whatever is agreed at the door is what appears on the invoice when the rug comes home.
Ours came out of a shed and smells strongly. Is it still worth washing?
Often, yes, and shed storage is the most common reason we see something in that state. What matters is whether the foundation held up, which we check by hand at the door. If it did, a treated bath deals with both the smell and whatever is causing it. If it did not, we tell you before any work is booked.
The dog has urinated in one corner more than once. Can that be dealt with?
In most cases yes, and sooner is easier. Repeated urine sinks past the pile into the foundation, which is why surface products keep disappointing. Immersion reaches it, enzyme work breaks down the compounds behind the smell, and where the dye below has suffered we point it out at assessment rather than leaving you to find it.
Will you collect from Eviron, Kielvale and Clothiers Creek at the same time?
All three are on this leg, along with Condong, Dulguigan and Wardrop Valley. Blocks out here are spread apart, so if two or three houses have rugs ready we take them together, with $20 off applied to every one after the first.
Should the rug be vacuumed before you collect it?
There is no need. Everything sitting on the surface comes out in the bath anyway, and a rug that arrives as it lives gives us a more honest picture of what it has been dealing with. Just roll it if you can, and leave it somewhere the driver can reach.
