A show-standard quote for river-flat rugs
The rug is examined the way the show judges examine an entry: closely, fairly and before any result is announced. The figure then holds to the end.

Rug cleaning Lawnton can judge for itself
An original suburb, in layers
Lawnton counts among the Pine Rivers district's original suburbs, and its 8.6 square kilometres read like tree rings: early timber homes near the 1888 church and the old cemetery, wide belts of brick and tile from the 60s and 70s boom that brought the state school in 1967, and newer townhouses filling in near the station. The 2021 census counted 5,905 people, many of them second and third generation in the district. Households like that keep things: the wool rug bought well decades ago is still in the lounge room, outlasting sofas, carpets and at least one set of kitchen cupboards. Rugs with that kind of tenure deserve better than supermarket shampoo, and our trade is giving them exactly that.
A rug that has outlasted two sofas has earned a wash done by hand, not a once-over done in the driveway.
What three waterways do to a lounge room
Water frames Lawnton on three sides: the North Pine along the top, the South Pine and Four Mile Creek at the bottom. It makes for good parks and good fishing, and it keeps the suburb's air damper than its neighbours a ridge away. River-flat homes, especially low-set ones near the water, wick that moisture indoors, and the rug absorbs more of it than anything else in the house. Damp pile grips grime, colour goes flat, and a faint mustiness moves in each summer and never quite moves out. The remedy is the Yatala bath, which lifts the bound-in load away, followed by controlled drying that hands the rug back genuinely dry through its foundation, the part river suburbs need most. It is the same story in every river suburb we serve, and Lawnton sits closer to the water than most. The rugs here have tenure, and tenure earns maintenance.
Workmanship, publicly judged since 1915
The Pine Rivers Show has run since 1891 and has called Lawnton's showgrounds home since 1915, which means this district has spent over a century putting workmanship on a table and letting judges walk around it. We like that culture, because it is how we prefer to be measured. Unroll the rug when it comes home: the colour should have depth again, the pile should stand, the fringe should be clean and combed, and the whole piece should smell of nothing. That is the standard the wash floor at Yatala works to on every rug, and the free re-wash guarantee exists for the day we miss it. The driver collects rolled rugs on the Pine Rivers round, with $20 off each rug that follows your first. The judges would approve of the method.

The showgrounds, the blacksmith and the riverbank
A suburb this old keeps its stories within a few streets.
Home of the district's show since 1915, the region's oldest.
A show that has judged craft for over a century keeps standards public. Ours are on display every time a rug comes home: judge the colour, the pile and the finish yourself.
The Pine Rivers Show is the longest-running in the Moreton Bay region, first held in 1891 as the Moreton Show North Pine, and its home since 1915 has been the Lawnton showgrounds on Gympie Road, on land acquired from the Walter Francis family. Between shows the grounds keep earning their keep with markets and community events, making this the district's common backyard.
Named for the district blacksmith who owned this river country.
A suburb named for a tradesman knows hand work when it sees it. Rug washing is hand work, and after 29 years we would not run the floor any other way.
Lawnton carries the name of Stephen Lawn, 1836 to 1917, blacksmith and early property owner whose land became the suburb. In a river farming district the blacksmith was essential infrastructure, shoeing horses and mending the gear that kept every selection working. Naming the place for him says what kind of settlement this was: practical, hardworking, built on trades done well.
The riverbank park named for a generous pioneer.
Families who launch at Leis Park bring the river home on everything, and the hallway rug collects it all. The driver collects the rug; Yatala does the rest.
Leis Park fronts the North Pine River with barbecues, open space and a boat ramp straight into the water. Its name honours pioneer Carl Leis, who donated the land for the Lawnton cemetery in the 1880s. Between the park, the 1888 foundation stone of St Thomas' Anglican Church and the old cemetery, this corner holds most of the suburb's earliest chapters within walking distance.

Lawnton questions, answered like locals
Is there a set price list for rug cleaning in Lawnton?
No, and any flat rate would short-change somebody. Size, fibre and condition decide each job, so we inspect, quote once, and hold the figure. Collection and return on the Pine Rivers run are part of the service, not extras.
Does living near the river actually affect our rugs?
Measurably. River-flat air carries more moisture, damp pile grips grime harder, and rugs here dull and grow musty faster than the same rug would a ridge away. Immersion washing clears the load, and complete drying is the part that matters most in this suburb.
Our old dog leaves the occasional puddle on the wool rug. What is the real fix?
The real fix is depth. Urine dries in the foundation, so surface products fail by design. The bath rinses that layer empty, enzymes see off the residue, and the drying stage removes the damp trigger. If dyes have been affected, we show you at assessment.
Can you collect from Strathpine and Petrie on the same day as us?
Yes, the whole river district shares one run: Lawnton, Strathpine, Petrie, Bray Park and neighbours. Family two streets over can book the same date, with $20 off landing on every rug in the booking after your first.
We need a rug done before the show weekend. Possible?
With notice, comfortably: the standard job takes about a week door to door. On a tighter calendar, the express tier takes over: 48 hours, at additional cost, the same standard, drying fully completed.
A rug stored in the garage smells damp. Should we worry?
Worth acting on, yes. Garage storage near the river means sustained damp, and sustained damp becomes mould at the foundation before anything is visible. An antimicrobial wash removes any growth, and proper drying stops the process restarting.
