A firm figure for the valley's biggest rugs
Nobody can price an acreage rug from a description. It gets looked over at Yatala, priced once, and washed only once you have agreed to the figure.

Rug washing Brookfield, for a valley that still works
Acreage, hobby farms and bush-backed streets
Brookfield spreads across 20.6 square kilometres of valley and ridge inside Brisbane City Council's Pullenvale Ward, 15.4 kilometres west-southwest of town, with Moggill Creek running down the middle of it toward the river at Kenmore. The 2021 census counted only 3,640 residents, spread over acreage blocks, hobby farms and bush-backed streets. This is the leafy west at its most rural, all homesteads, renovated farmhouses, horse paddocks and architect builds set back into the valley. Interiors run generous, with big living rooms where oversized wool anchors the timber, and the daily load that crosses them is genuine country.
The rug that covers half a homestead living room is the one nobody can shift, so nobody ever cleans it.
Why the biggest rug in the house is the dirtiest
It is a simple matter of logistics. A rug that covers most of a homestead living room cannot be lifted into a car, will not fit any domestic machine, and there is nowhere within a sensible drive to carry it. So it stays on the floor, and it keeps working. Gravel dust off the drive, soil from the paddocks, dog hair, boot grit and horse gear all arrive on it and stay, sinking beneath the tips of the pile, where a vacuum head has never been. Owners usually assume the flattened colour is age. It is almost never age. It is load, and load comes out under water. That is the entire case for a proper pickup service: the rug leaves rolled from the door, goes into a facility with the floor space to sink a room sized piece completely under, and comes back looking like the rug that was bought. Acreage owners tend to know all this already, because they run the same arithmetic on machinery and fencing. A thing built well and maintained on a sensible interval costs less across its life than the same thing replaced twice.
First for the storms, slow to dry
Sitting against the foothills, this valley takes the storm cells first and lets go of the water last, with the creek flats staying heavy for days after every wet spell. In between, the dry works grit into pile. A wool rug in a closed farmhouse room ends up holding both at once and announces the fact as a smell somewhere around February. Immersion takes the valley's seasons back out from under the pile, and the drying stage matters more here than in most places, because a house shaded this well gives up its moisture slowly. Reckon on 52 kilometres and 50 to 55 minutes: Brookfield Road down to Kenmore, south on the Centenary, then east to the M1. Our driving, not yours.

Out of the valley and back
A single scheduled western day covers Brookfield with Kenmore and the river acreage, so a booking here drops in easily. That day covers both directions, and your window follows the moment the route is drawn up.
A show since 1910, a creek that named the place, and an 1871 school
A few thousand people keeping a whole farming valley going.
The valley's own show, first held on 20 July 1910 and still going.
A show pavilion rewards work done properly, and so do we. Every rug is bathed by hand on our Yatala facility and judged honestly before we start.
The first Brookfield Show was held on Wednesday 20 July 1910, and more than a century later it still fills the showgrounds for three days each year. A district of a few thousand people keeping a full agricultural show alive for over 110 years is the plainest statement Brookfield makes about itself. This is still farming country at heart.
Believed named by Lucinda Brimblecombe for the creek through the fields.
The creek has shaped this valley for 150 years, and water shapes our trade too. A full immersion wash is the only clean that reaches the base of the pile.
Brookfield is believed to have been named by Lucinda Brimblecombe, nee Logan, for the course of Moggill Creek winding through the district's fields. The name fitted then and still does: the creek remains the suburb's spine, crossed by the valley's roads and lined with the flats that drew farmers here when the area opened for logging and farming in 1869.
Teaching the valley's children since 27 March 1871.
A school in its second century understands maintenance: steady care, done properly, year after year. That is the whole of our method.
Brookfield State School opened its doors on 27 March 1871, two years after this valley was thrown open for logging and farming, and it has taught the district's children without a break since. A post office arrived in 1876, and the little run of school, hall, store and church buildings strung along Brookfield Road now carries a dozen heritage listings between them, an intact main street from a Queensland farming valley.

Brookfield questions, answered straight
How much does rug cleaning in Brookfield cost?
Dimensions, fibre and how loaded the piece is between them set the figure, and on acreage those three vary enormously. We inspect at Yatala before quoting rather than guessing over a phone line, the number is then fixed, and the valley day carries both legs.
Our living room rug is enormous. Can you actually wash something that size?
Yes. A room sized piece is taken under in one go, not cleaned in halves, so nothing comes back with a join line or a half-finished edge. Having the floor space for that is the main reason the facility is laid out as it is. Our one request is that it is rolled and not folded when the driver arrives.
Is there a faster service for a rug we need back quickly?
Yes. There is a 48-hour express option, dearer than the ordinary job, that has a piece back inside two days. Without it a rug is gone the usual seven. Either route ends with the drying stage running until no moisture is left anywhere in the piece, which counts for a good deal in a shaded valley house.
The dogs have urinated on the lounge rug and the smell returns each summer. Is that fixable?
It can be, once treatment reaches the depth the accident reached, and that means the underside instead of the pile. Sprays sit above the trouble and lose ground each humid week. The bath lifts the residue away from below and an enzyme stage neutralises what caused it. Any dye harm is named at assessment.
Do you also collect from Kenmore, Pullenvale and Upper Brookfield?
Yes. One scheduled western day covers Brookfield with those neighbours and the river acreage, so a property a few minutes away can share your collection. Every rug beyond the first has $20 off, worth arranging where several large pieces sit across two houses.
The rug has horse hair and paddock dirt through it. Is that a problem?
Not at all, and it is a large part of what the wash floor handles. Dry soil and hair are worked out of the pile before any water goes near the rug, which stops the load turning to mud in the bath. The immersion stage then takes out what the dry work could not reach.
