Henry Eden was an early settler in the timber trade who in 1865 obtained permission to operate a ferry punt across the Logan River, and the crossing point became known as Eden's landing. The name sat quietly on the riverbank for more than a century until the locality was officially gazetted as Edens Landing in November 1985, when the estates began to spread over what had been farmland.
Opened in January 1986, funded privately to unlock the new suburb.

When Brisbane's southside rail services were upgraded in the 1980s, Leighton Developers paid for a brand-new station at Edens Landing to serve the estate it was building, and the Minister for Transport, Don Lane, opened it on 25 January 1986. The bet worked: the suburb was formally bounded within weeks, in February 1986, and grew so steadily that a second platform followed on 21 April 1992 when the line was duplicated.

A school inside the boundary sealed the suburb's shift from paddocks to a settled family address in a single generation.
