The rugs split accordingly, first good wool pieces and big kids' synthetics on the new side, long-serving veterans on the old, and every one of them lives closer to our wash floor than almost any rug in Brisbane. Both halves book the same way, a short form, a scheduled day, and a driver equally at home on a Brookhaven street or a hill driveway.

The Bahr family's quiet century
The name has been attributed to early German settlers Carl Wilhelm Bahr and his son Wilhelm, who worked this country when it was dense scrub, and older references called the district Jimmybark Scrub before the family name settled in. What followed was a century of quiet: a small state school opened around June 1919 and closed in 1929 because there were not enough children to fill it, and the hills kept their trees while Beenleigh grew next door. The quiet ended with the rezoning. Windaroo Valley State High School arrived on the Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road side in 1994, the estates followed, and a suburb that once could not sustain one classroom now sends more than a thousand students through its high school gates.

The hills catch the same subtropical summer as the rest of Logan, and the construction fronts add their own signature problem: fine earthworks dust that drifts across the new estates for the first year or two of every stage, settling into rug pile where storm-season humidity binds it into grime. What does a Bahrs Scrub rug clean come to?
The rug decides at inspection. Size, fibre and condition build the figure, which then holds without exception. Pickup and delivery are free on the local run, and where a piece is not worth washing that gets said before anything else happens.
The new puppy urinated on our first proper wool rug. Have we ruined it?
Very unlikely. Urine reaches the backing, which is past what a spray can do but well inside what the bath does: that layer gets rinsed out, enzyme work breaks down the residue sitting in it, and drying runs to the core so summer humidity has nothing to revive. Book it soon and the odds are excellent.
Does the estate's construction dust actually damage rugs?
Given time, yes. Earthworks dust is fine and abrasive, it settles through new homes for the first year or two of each stage, and once humidity binds it into the pile base it grinds fibre underfoot. A wash clears it completely, and one round usually covers the worst construction period.
Are Windaroo and Beenleigh collected on the same runs as us?
