Rug washing Loganholme, close to home
Brick, tile and thirty years of family
Loganholme covers 9.1 square kilometres roughly 30.6 kilometres out from the CBD to the south-south-east, and 6,764 people lived here when the 2021 census was taken. The housing tells you most of what you need to know before we knock. Brick homes from the 1980s and 1990s on the old Marana Gardens estate streets, townhouse pockets tucked near the motorway, and a run of larger blocks along the river. Tiled and timber living areas are standard, which puts the loungeroom rug in charge of all the comfort in the house. Plenty of these households have been here since the estates went up, so the rug in the front room often carries twenty or thirty years of family life in its foundation, and almost none of them have ever been properly washed.
Being close by is not a slogan here. It genuinely changes what we can do for a wet rug.
The river keeps the air wet
The Logan River wraps the southern and western boundaries of this suburb, and the name itself is usually explained as Logan plus holme, an old English word for low ground beside a river, which describes the ground exactly. Low ground beside water holds moisture, and homes near the river get river humidity stacked on top of ordinary storm season damp. A rug absorbing that year after year does not simply get dirty, it starts holding smells no surface cleaning will shift, because the smell is inside the fibre rather than on it. Submerging the whole rug at Yatala returns the pile to clean wool or clean synthetic, and the hours that follow under controlled air are what send it back holding no moisture at all rather than merely presenting a dry surface.
One exit away, which changes the maths
Loganholme is among the easier pickups on our books. Roughly 14 kilometres, and generally under twenty minutes along the motorway to the Yatala turnoff, which means a rug collected in the morning is frequently on the wash floor before lunch. For an ordinary booking that simply makes the schedule tidy. For water damage it matters enormously, because the gap between a soaked rug and a mouldy rug is measured in days rather than weeks in a Queensland February. The Logan Hyperdome sits just over the northern boundary in Shailer Park, which is how most people place this suburb on a map, but the part that matters to us is the motorway ramp two minutes from it. Distance is the quiet cost in this trade. Every extra kilometre between a rug and a wash floor is time the rug spends rolled in a van instead of being worked on, and on this stretch there is barely any of it.

Cane, a stubborn school and a bend in the river
Farm country for a century before the estates arrived.
These river flats grew cotton from the 1860s and sugar for decades after.
The crops have gone but the working method suits us. We still take the slow, thorough route: rugs washed by hand in water at our Yatala facility, ten minutes down the motorway from these streets.
Land along the river here was taken up around 1862 under regulations meant to encourage cotton growing, and a cotton gin was built in 1867. Cane soon proved the better crop, so the gin was converted to sugar milling, and Fryar and Strachan's mill, built on the river at Loganholme in July 1869, is described in district histories as the earliest of the Logan's sugar mills. The pastoralist James Tyson bought much of the old plantation land in 1876, and the flats stayed farm country for the better part of a century afterwards.
Opened in 1873, shut once, and teaching again since 1890.
A school serving one district for a century and a half understands steady work. We are 29 years in, and most of what we collect around here is repeat business or a neighbour's recommendation.
Loganholme State School first opened on 24 May 1873, when this district was farms and river crossings. It closed in 1890 as the local population thinned out, reopened as a provisional school in April of that same year, and resumed as a full state school on 23 January 1893. That stubborn restart says something about the families who lived here: they wanted their school back, they got it, and it has taught the suburb's children through every change since.
Twenty-three hectares of riverbank on an inner bend of the Logan.
Families who spend Saturday at the river park know exactly what a dog and two children do to a rug by Sunday. Free pickup and delivery, a genuine hand wash, and it is back inside a week.
Alexander Clark Park takes up 23 hectares on an inner bend of the Logan River, upstream of the motorway crossing. It was created in the mid 1970s as the Marana Gardens estate filled the paddocks behind it, and named in memory of Alexander Clark, who died in June 1974 and came from a family prominent in the district for close to a century. The koala play tower with its enclosed slide, the riverside pontoons and the barbecue lawns make it one of Logan's best-used family parks.

Loganholme questions, answered without fuss
How quickly can you collect a rug in Loganholme?
Usually very quickly, because this suburb sits on a run we drive most days. A booking placed today is normally collected on the next scheduled pass rather than being held for a route to fill. That closeness makes the biggest difference on urgent jobs, particularly anything that has been wet, where the delay matters more than the wash itself.
What should a Loganholme household expect to pay?
It depends on the piece: its dimensions, its fibre, how it was constructed and what state it turns up in. Nobody sensible quotes that over the phone. After inspection there is one number. Getting the rug there and back is already covered by the day's driving, and any piece that will not repay a wash gets named at that point rather than afterwards.
Our rug got soaked when a hose burst. Is it worth saving?
Often, and the answer depends heavily on how long it stayed wet. Warm damp fibre grows mould inside a few days in summer, so the sooner it is out of the house the better the odds. Book straight away, give us the timeline, and it is read on the day it lands with a plain verdict before any cost is agreed.
Our dog had an accident on the wool rug. Will that smell return?
Not once the source has genuinely gone. Urine settles at the base of the rug and stays there, which is why anything applied to the surface fades and then comes back with the next humid week. A full soak moves the residue away entirely, enzymes finish the remainder, and a rug dried right out has nothing left to reactivate.
Do you collect from Shailer Park, Cornubia and Tanah Merah too?
Yes, along with Bethania, Holmview, Edens Landing and the rest of the corridor. They all sit on the same day's driving, so family in the next suburb can add their rugs to yours. $20 off applies to every additional rug in that booking.
Do I need to move furniture off the rug before you arrive?
Ideally yes, so the driver can roll it cleanly and be out of your morning quickly. Where the rug sits under something heavy, we can send two people to shift it, arranged on request at an additional charge. Note it when you book and the driver arrives expecting it, rather than finding out on your doorstep.
