A settled figure for rugs off the Mapleton range
The number comes from the rug rather than the postcode. It is assessed once collected, one figure is set, and that figure holds through to delivery. Where a wash will not achieve what somebody is after, we say so before doing the work.

Rug cleaning Cooloolabin, between the park and the dams
A locality mostly made of national park
Cooloolabin covers 32.6 square kilometres in the Yandina to Eumundi corridor, 4.7 kilometres west of Yandina and 13.3 kilometres north-northwest of Nambour. Much of it sits inside Mapleton National Park, with Mount Bottle and Glass at 235 metres and Swain Peak at 290 metres among its high points. Cooloolabin Dam lies in the southwest and Wappa Dam's northern arm extends into the southeast corner. The population was 257 at the 2016 census and 311 in 2021, which works out to 9.5 people per square kilometre. Belli Park, Eerwah Vale, Bridges, Gheerulla, Kiamba and Yandina sit around it. Homes are acreage blocks close to water, not streets, and the rugs in them carry mountain damp and bushland dust in about equal measure. There is no township inside the boundary and no shopping strip, which we mention because it is true rather than because it needs an excuse.
A place with two reservoirs inside it knows that holding water is easy. Getting it back out on purpose is the difficult part.
What was built here, and when
Planning for Cooloolabin Dam began in the mid-1970s as Maroochy Shire Council worked to keep pace with rapid population growth, and construction ran from 1978 to 1979. It produced a reservoir with an 8.1 square kilometre catchment, a nineteen metre wall and five saddle dams totalling 1,100 metres. A section of the spillway was cut away in 2015 as part of a statewide dam safety upgrade, lowering the full supply level by three metres. Wappa Dam, a separate reservoir to the northeast, pushes its own arm into Cooloolabin's southeastern edge. That is a lot of deliberate water engineering inside one small locality, and it is a fair parallel for what a proper rug wash actually is. Volume in, volume out, both measured, neither guessed at, and the second half taking longer than the first.
Air that has to cross water before it reaches you
With national park covering much of its area and two dams inside its boundaries, Cooloolabin holds onto moisture the way mountainous, water-covered country does. Cool, damp air comes off the range and meets still air sitting over the reservoirs, and the result is a district where nothing dries quickly on its own. A rug on an acreage floor here is rarely completely dry in its foundation, and the soil it collects binds to that moisture rather than sitting loose in the pile. Immersion is the only process that separates the two, and the drying that follows has to be managed rather than left to the weather, because the weather here is precisely the thing that caused the problem in the first place.

This listing is a service area and nothing more. There is no counter and no wash floor anywhere near the range. The van drives up to the block, and the rug is washed at Yatala.
Where the rug actually gets wet
The distance is our cost and it stays out of the quote. Cooloolabin is collected with Yandina and Bridges on one planned day, with a window given once that day is fixed.
A shared name, two dams and real mountain country
A quiet locality with genuine engineering inside it.
Cooloolabin's name, like nearby Coolabine's, is drawn from Aboriginal language for place of koalas, two separately founded localities carrying closely related names by coincidence of language.
Two places sharing a meaning by honest coincidence rather than confusion is a detail worth getting right, and getting details right one rug at a time is what an honest assessment is.
Cooloolabin's Aboriginal-derived name is recorded with the same meaning, place of koalas, as the unrelated locality of Coolabine further west in the range, a genuine linguistic echo rather than any administrative connection between the two. Cooloolabin's own Provisional School opened on 28 January 1915, became a state school on 1 September 1916, and closed in 1962, serving this mountainous corridor for almost fifty years.
Cooloolabin Dam, built between 1978 and 1979 with a nineteen metre wall and five saddle dams totalling 1,100 metres, sits in the southwest, while Wappa Dam's northern arm reaches into the southeast.
A locality built around two working reservoirs understands water better than most, and drawing water back out of a rug on purpose is the entire point of an immersion wash.
Planning for Cooloolabin Dam began in the mid-1970s as Maroochy Shire Council worked to keep pace with rapid population growth, and construction ran from 1978 to 1979, producing a reservoir with an 8.1 square kilometre catchment. A section of the spillway was cut away in 2015 as part of a statewide dam safety upgrade, lowering the full supply level by three metres. Wappa Dam, a separate reservoir to the northeast, extends its own arm into Cooloolabin's southeastern edge.
With Mount Bottle and Glass at 235 metres and Swain Peak at 290 metres inside its boundary, and under ten people per square kilometre, this is real mountain country.
A district built around mountains and dams rather than a shopping strip still gets a pickup on the same planned corridor day, and the same wash however far up the range the rug came from.
Population grew from 257 in 2016 to 311 in 2021, still spread across 32.6 square kilometres of terrain dominated by Mapleton National Park, named peaks and two reservoirs. It borders Belli Park, Bridges and Gheerulla directly, a genuine part of the Yandina to Eumundi corridor's hill country rather than its river flats, and there is no township inside it to describe.

Cooloolabin questions, answered plainly
Do you come up the range for a collection?
Yes, on the Yandina range day, which also covers Bridges and Belli Park. The driver comes to the block itself rather than to a meeting point. Both legs are included in the quoted figure and the climb makes no difference to it.
How is the figure decided?
On the rug's own condition, assessed once it is with us. Size, fibre, construction and what it is carrying all feed one number set at inspection, not over the phone. It stays fixed from there, with both driver trips already inside it.
Nothing here ever seems to dry properly. Does that matter for a rug?
It matters more than most things. Moisture held in the foundation is what soil bonds to and what mould feeds on, so a rug in this district is usually carrying both together. The wash separates them and the drying room does what the local air genuinely cannot, which is take the water back out on a schedule.
The dog urinated on the rug months back and it still comes and goes. Why?
Because urine is stored down in the backing and comes back out whenever humidity rises, which up here is often. Immersion draws the soluble part away, an enzyme stage handles what makes the smell, and managed drying stops the cycle starting over. Dye damage is described at the assessment.
Do you also collect from Yandina, Bridges and Belli Park?
Yes, and from Eerwah Vale and Gheerulla on the same day. Two blocks can send rugs on one stop, which saves everybody a trip out here, and every rug after the first is $20 off.
How long is the rug away?
About 7 days from the block and back to it. If a date is genuinely immovable, the 48-hour express service can be booked for an extra charge. Both finish with the moisture pulled out under control rather than left to range air.
