Wamuran took its name from its railway station, and the station was named after Menvil Wanmaurn, a local Aboriginal man also known as Jacky Delaney. Most Queensland place names honour distant officials or home counties; Wamuran carries the name of someone who actually walked this country. The town that grew around the station kept it, and the name is now on the school, the hall and the fruit stalls that define the place.

Wamuran's red soil grows serious fruit, and the town is known across the region for its strawberries and pineapples, sold in season from stalls along the D'Aguilar Highway. Growing here goes back a century, long enough that Wamuran Provisional School opened for farm children on 17 October 1921, and the paddocks around the township still work: this is farmland that never stopped farming.

The branch railway from Caboolture opened through Wamuran on 6 December 1909 and reached Kilcoy by 1913, hauling timber out and carrying the district's pineapples and bananas to market for decades. The line beyond Wamuran closed in mid-1964, but the Caboolture to Wamuran section worked fruit freight until 9 September 1996, and its corridor is now the Caboolture to Wamuran Rail Trail, running cyclists past the sawmill sites and strawberry farms the trains once served.

Rarely permanently, but it does bind deep. Red soil's fine clay particles work into the foundation and hold colour there, which is why vacuuming never finishes the job. The bath floats the clay out and treats any residual mark, and most red-soil rugs come back visibly brighter.
