An honest figure for homes under the mountain
The quote is the same kind of statement as everything else on this page. We look at what is actually in front of us, say what it is, and name one figure that holds.

Rug washing Mount Coolum, on the slopes below the park
A page that stays inside its own boundaries
There are two things about this locality that would be easy to claim and that this page does not claim. The mountain's physical geology, how it formed and what grows on it, belongs to our wider Sunshine Coast page rather than to this one. And the resort that carries the Coolum name sits at Warran Road in Yaroomba, a genuinely separate locality between Coolum Beach and Mount Coolum, which is where the address puts it regardless of how convenient the shared name would be. What is actually here is five point one square kilometres seventeen kilometres north of Maroochydore, mostly national park, traversed by the Sunshine Motorway and David Low Way, bordered by Coolum Beach, Yaroomba, Maroochy River and Marcoola, with four thousand five hundred and forty five residents at the 2021 census.
Getting a boundary right when a shared name makes it tempting to claim more is the same habit as telling you honestly what a rug will not get back.
Houses on the lower slopes, and not much else
This is a residential locality built around a mountain and its park rather than around a beach strip or a town centre. Homes sit on the lower slopes, and a small local shopping centre on David Low Way serves them directly. There is no school inside the five square kilometres, so children go next door to Coolum State School and Coolum State High School, and a mobile library service covers the rest. Population climbed from four thousand two hundred and sixty five to four thousand five hundred and forty five between the two most recent censuses, which is genuine growth for a place with this little developable ground. The rugs are household pieces from real family homes, some of them long-held wool, some of them newer, and every one gets the same assessment as a piece from a far larger suburb further down the coast.
Two climates inside five square kilometres
The national park bushland that covers most of this locality keeps ground moisture high on the mountain's lower slopes, and permanent shade means that ground does not dry out between wet weeks. A few streets away, the houses closer to David Low Way sit in open coastal exposure and take salt air instead. That gives one small locality two genuinely different climates, and the rugs show it. Pieces from the shaded side arrive with damp in the base and often the beginnings of a musty note. Pieces from the exposed side arrive salty, and salt is the one that holds moisture against fibre indefinitely. Immersion deals with both in the same process, because both are trapped in the foundation rather than sitting on the surface, and the controlled dry afterwards is what stops either one returning.

Premier Rug Cleaning Sunshine Coast
Nowhere on this coast do we keep a counter for rugs to be brought to. The Sunshine Coast listing describes the territory we cover, our driver comes to the house, and every wash takes place at Yatala.
Down the coast and onto the floor
Those kilometres are ours and they stay well away from your quote. Mount Coolum is collected on the northern coastal leg with Coolum Beach and Marcoola, and the window follows the run day.
A mountain that lost something, a locality without a school, a borrowed name
Three things that genuinely belong to this locality and nothing that does not.
Long before European settlement the mountain here was sometimes known as Half Way Lump, and Kabi legend tells that its head was severed in a confrontation with Mount Ninderry and fell into the sea.
A place that carries two entirely different explanations of itself, and keeps both, is a fair model for how we talk about a rug: what is known, what is likely, and what nobody can say for certain.
The word coolum itself, from the Kabi gulum or kulum, is said to mean without or wanting, and the legend explains that name directly: the mountain lost something and the name remembers the loss. That head became the island now visible offshore at Mudjimba. It is a completely separate layer of meaning from any physical account of how the mountain came to be there.
With 4,545 residents and no school anywhere inside its five square kilometres, Mount Coolum sends its children next door to Coolum State School and Coolum State High School.
A community that shares a school and most of its shopping with the suburb next door still has real rugs in real homes, and every one is assessed the same way on our northern leg.
Its own small shopping centre on David Low Way serves the locality directly, and a mobile library covers the rest. Population climbed from 4,265 in 2016, genuine growth for a place built mostly around a national park and a mountain rather than a township centre. The Sunshine Motorway and David Low Way both run through, keeping it connected without needing a commercial heart of its own.
The Hyatt Regency Coolum and its successor, the Palmer Coolum Resort, sit at Warran Road in the neighbouring locality of Yaroomba rather than inside Mount Coolum itself.
Checking a boundary rather than assuming one is exactly what we do with a rug's construction before recommending a method, and it is the reason a customer can trust the rest of what we say.
It would be simple to claim the resort as a local landmark given the shared name, but the address places it in Yaroomba, a genuinely separate locality sitting between Coolum Beach and Mount Coolum. We verified the boundary directly rather than assuming it, and the honest answer is that this page does not own that material.

Mount Coolum questions, answered plainly
The house backs onto the national park. Does that change anything?
It does, and mostly in the base of the rug where nobody looks. Permanent shade and ground that never dries out keep the foundation of a pile slightly damp long after the surface feels fine. That is where mustiness starts. Lifting a corner and smelling the underside will usually tell you where you stand.
How is a rug from Mount Coolum priced?
On what it is, which is the only fair basis. Construction, size and current condition give us the number, with the drive down and back already inside it. Seeing the piece fixes the figure and nothing is added afterwards. If a wash is not going to be worth it, that is the answer we give you.
Do you also collect at Coolum Beach, Marcoola and Yaroomba?
All three are on the northern coastal leg with us, as are Point Arkwright, Mudjimba and Peregian Beach. Since several of these localities share schools and shops, households here often coordinate a collection with someone nearby. Each rug beyond the first has $20 off.
Our dog urinated on the rug and it still smells weeks later. Why?
Because the urine reached the backing on the first day and is still there. Surface products treat the wool above it and leave the cause untouched, and in air this humid the deposit stays chemically active far longer than it would inland. Immersion flushes it out and an enzyme stage deals with the odour itself.
How long is the rug away, and can that be shortened?
Ordinarily about 7 days between collection and delivery. Where something genuinely has to be back faster there is a 48-hour express option at additional cost. Because this locality sits on a scheduled leg, mentioning a deadline on your first call is what lets us fit it properly.
Is a rug from a shaded street treated differently to one from David Low Way?
The process is the same, but what we expect to find is not. A shaded street piece usually arrives with damp and sometimes early growth in the base. One from the exposed side arrives salty. Both are trapped in the foundation, both come out in the bath, and knowing which is which before unrolling helps.
