Alfred Lutwyche was appointed Supreme Court judge at Moreton Bay on 21 February 1859, months before Queensland separated from New South Wales, making him the new colony's foundation judge. He bought the land for St Andrew's Church in 1864, the church rose in 1866, and on his death in June 1880 he was buried on its southern side. His residence, Kedron Lodge, stands over the boundary in Wooloowin and belongs to that suburb's story; here, the name on the map is his true monument.
