A considered figure for deliberate furnishings
Grange furnishes on purpose, so we quote on evidence. The rug is examined on evidence, a number is recorded, and that number is what you pay.

Rug washing in Grange runs in the grain
This suburb has washed wool before
Grange owes its name to T. K. Peate's property, borrowing an Old English word for a granary, and Peate did not farm quietly: in the 1860s he ran The Grange Tannery and Fellmongery Company on the southern bank of Kedron Brook, processing hides and working wool right where the suburb now stands. A fellmongery's business was fleece, which makes Grange one of the few Brisbane suburbs whose founding industry was literally the washing of wool. The Grange Estate subdivision followed in 1903, the tram arrived in July 1928, and the working brook-side property became one of the city's favourite character suburbs. The brook has long since gone back to being parkland, but the suburb never lost the habit of treating wool as something worth doing properly. We consider ourselves the current chapter of the original trade: wool rugs from Grange homes, hand washed properly by Premier Rug Cleaning at our Yatala facility.
Wool has been washed off this ground since the 1860s. We just moved the tub down the road.
Houses bought for character, furnished to match
The suburb runs 1.8 square kilometres between The Pinnacle, its 57 metre western hill, and the brook, with 4,615 residents at the 2021 census and some of the inner north's most tightly held streets. The housing shows its 1903 birthdate proudly: full-length verandah Queenslanders, interwar bungalows with leadlight and picture rails, and sympathetic renovations that keep the original hoop pine on show. Estate agents list these houses by their original features, and the buyers arrive already knowing what a good rug does for old timber. People who buy for character furnish for it too, so the rug stock here is serious: room-size wool, Persian and Turkish pieces chosen deliberately, and hall runners defending a century of boards. Rugs like that are kept for decades, which makes a proper wash every few years the cheapest form of insurance their owners can buy.
Hill air, brook damp, and what wool remembers
Grange lives between two microclimates. The Pinnacle's slopes catch the breeze and dry quickly; the streets toward the brook sit on lower ground that holds moisture after every wet week. Character homes on stumps breathe from underneath, which helps, but a humid February still loads a wool pile with damp it cannot shed on its own, and the fine dust of old gardens and bush remnants settles in alongside it. Wool remembers every season until it is washed. The Yatala bath erases the memory completely, foundation included, and the rug is then dried until the weave holds nothing at all, ready to protect the boards for another few years.

The tannery, the club and the hill
A suburb whose history keeps circling back to wool and upkeep.
The suburb is named for a property that worked wool by the brook in the 1860s.
We are the same trade a century and a half on: wool from these streets still leaves to be washed properly, now in the tubs at Yatala, rolled in the back of a van instead of carted.
T. K. Peate named his property with an Old English word for a granary, and on it he ran The Grange Tannery and Fellmongery Company, processing hides and fleece beside Kedron Brook's southern bank in the 1860s. When the Grange Estate was subdivided in 1903 the name carried over, and a suburb whose first industry was washing wool grew into one of Brisbane's favourite character addresses.
A 1920 football club that has kept one home ground since 1930.
Nearly a century of caring for one ground is a maintenance philosophy we recognise. Rugs respond to the same discipline: regular, proper care beats occasional heroics every time.
Grange Thistle Football Club was founded in 1920, carrying its Scottish name and tartan into more than a century of Queensland football, and has played at Lanham Park since 1930. The club has produced internationals and premierships and still fields everyone from juniors to seniors within walking distance of most of the suburb, sharing the precinct with the Grange Bowls Club, resident for over seventy years.
Remnant open forest climbing the suburb's 57 metre hill.
Old gardens and bush remnants shed fine dust that settles quietly into nearby rugs year round. The full bath at Yatala lifts years of it from the foundation, guaranteed by our free re-wash promise.
Grange Forest Park preserves a pocket of original open forest on the slopes of The Pinnacle, the rise that crowns the suburb's western end. It is a genuine rarity this close to the city: bushland the 1903 estate buyers would recognise, threaded with tracks under the same species of trees. Lanham Park handles the suburb's sport; Forest Park keeps its original landscape.

Grange rug questions, considered answers
How much should I expect rug cleaning in Grange to cost?
It is decided at inspection: size, fibre, dye stability and overall state all contribute, and the resulting figure is locked. The inner-north circuit includes free carriage each way, and when a rug's condition argues against washing, that opinion arrives before any work does.
Is water safe for a Turkish rug with strong reds?
Only after testing, which is why testing is where we start. Strong reds are the classic movable dye, so every mark and every wash decision follows a dye test on the actual rug. If the colours prove stable the bath proceeds at matched pH; if not, the low moisture method takes over.
Our dog urinated on the hall runner and the smell keeps returning. Why?
Because the residue is in the foundation and your treatments have been reaching the pile. Every humid spell reactivates what sits below. The immersion wash cleans the foundation itself, enzyme treatment then breaks down the remainder, and the rug leaves the drying room with nothing for the weather to work on. That is why this fix holds where the sprays did not.
Do Wilston and Alderley homes share the Grange pickup?
They sit on the same scheduled circuit, yes. One inner-north day gathers the neighbourhood's rugs together, which keeps collection free, and a booking of several rugs earns $20 off all but the first.
The rug came with the house when we bought it. Should it be washed?
Almost certainly, and assessed regardless. Inherited-with-the-house rugs are often better than their new owners assume, dulled by years of dust rather than worn out. The assessment tells you what you actually acquired, and the wash usually returns colour nobody knew was there.
Can you meet a deadline before a family event at our place?
Yes. Ask for the 48-hour express when the calendar is immovable; it carries its own charge. Ordinary service occupies about a week, and both hand back a rug dry right through, ready to be walked on that evening.
