One figure, and a date you can plan around
You get two things from us before any work happens: a single figure taken from the rug itself, and a collection day that is actually kept. If washing this rug will not repay what it costs, we say so at the inspection rather than after it.

Rug washing Landsborough, worked into the hinterland schedule
A hundred and fifty years of arranging travel
Everything Landsborough has ever done has been about moving people through and doing it in an organised way. The settlement began in 1871 when Isaac Burgess built a slab hut to serve Cobb and Co coaches on their run through the district. The post office opened on 23 January 1881 under the town's original name, Mellum Creek, from the local Aboriginal word for volcano, and was renamed Landsborough in 1890 after the explorer William Landsborough, the first European to cross Australia from north to south. In 1912 Landsborough Shire split away from Caboolture Shire and ran its own administration from this town until the merger into the City of Caloundra in 1968. The railway came and stayed. Today the town works as the major bus transport hub for the entire coastal Sunshine Coast, which is the same job it has always had in a different vehicle.
A collection day that gets kept is not a small thing. Most of what goes wrong in this trade goes wrong on the calendar first.
Old timber and new estates, on the same street sometimes
The housing here divides cleanly. There are the timber homes left from the coach and railway decades, generous, high-set, with floors that have carried rugs for a long time and are still doing it. Then there is the growth: 3,706 residents at the 2011 census, 3,812 in 2016 and 4,446 in 2021, most of that arriving as new family homes. The rugs that come to us from those two halves need different things. From the older houses we usually get good wool that has never been properly washed, where the whole job is releasing decades of soil that has worked its way down to the knot line. From the newer ones we get large modern pieces three to five years old that are carrying an enormous amount of traffic in a short time. Neither is a difficult job. They are simply different ones, and we sort out which is which before quoting rather than after.
Reservoir damp, red soil, and a rug that never quite dries
Landsborough sits below the range with Ewen Maddock Dam to the northeast, so it carries coastal plain humidity plus the first real touch of hinterland damp. The soil around the district is the red hinterland kind that marks rather than brushes off, and it comes indoors readily on a wet week. What that combination produces is a rug loading up faster than the household notices and then failing to dry out between rain events, so odour usually arrives before any visible dirt does. Both parts answer to the same treatment, provided the treatment includes the drying. Washing lifts the soil and releases what smells. The controlled room afterwards is what determines whether the rug goes home genuinely dry, and skipping that is why some rugs are no better a month after a clean than they were before it.

Our Sunshine Coast office
Premier Rug Cleaning Sunshine Coast
The Sunshine Coast listing describes the ground we cover rather than somewhere to call in at. Rugs are collected from the house here and washed at Yatala, and nothing is handled in between.
South on the highway, on schedule
The travel is ours and it is already in the price. On the hinterland day Landsborough is worked between Beerwah and Mooloolah Valley, and we confirm the window as soon as that day is locked in.
An explorer's name, a shire's administration, and a wartime shelter
A town that has spent a century and a half organising other people's journeys.
Landsborough is named after William Landsborough, the British-born explorer who became the first European to cross Australia from north to south, though the settlement itself began under an entirely different name, Mellum Creek, meaning volcano in the local Aboriginal language.
A town named for an explorer who probably never stopped here, on ground first known for a coach-stop hut, is layered local history worth having before we collect a rug from it.
The town's beginnings trace to 1871, when Isaac Burgess built a slab hut here to serve Cobb and Co coaches running through the district. The post office opened on 23 January 1881 under the Mellum Creek name and was not renamed Landsborough until 1890, nearly a decade later.
Landsborough Shire split from Caboolture Shire in 1912 and made this town its administrative centre, a role it held until the shire merged into the City of Caloundra in 1968.
A town that once ran an entire shire's administration still carries that weight in its buildings, and we bring the same weight of care to a rug from a heritage street or a new estate alike.
The Landsborough School of Arts Memorial Hall was officially opened on 4 May 1924 by the Queensland Governor, Sir Matthew Nathan, and the Landsborough Shire Museum holds artefacts from both the pre-colonial and pioneer eras of the district's history.
An Air Raid Shelter still stands on Cribb Street, a genuine piece of Second World War history, while modern Landsborough works as the major bus transport hub for the whole coastal Sunshine Coast.
A town built around getting people where they said they would be is a fair match for a service that lives or dies on keeping to a scheduled collection day.
The town's population grew from 3,706 to 3,812 to 4,446 across the 2011, 2016 and 2021 census counts. Landsborough railway station still serves the North Coast line, connecting the town directly to Brisbane, Nambour and Gympie, which is why so much of the district's movement still routes through here.

Landsborough questions, answered plainly
When would you actually collect, and how firm is the day?
On the scheduled hinterland day, and the window is confirmed once that day is set rather than promised in advance and adjusted later. Landsborough sits between Beerwah and Mooloolah Valley on the run, so we can generally tell you which part of the day to expect.
How is the cost of washing a Landsborough rug decided?
Entirely by the rug. Four things go into it: size, construction, fibre and the state it has reached. Your address is not one of them, and getting it to Yatala and back is a cost we carry. What you are quoted at the inspection is what you pay.
Our rug is from the old family house and has never been cleaned. Where do we start?
With an inspection, and no commitment beyond that. A wool rug kept reasonably dry usually has a great deal left in it even after decades. What the check tells you is how much of the dullness is soil that will come out and how much is wear that will not, and those two look identical until somebody turns the rug over.
The dog has urinated on the rug more than once and the smell returns each summer.
That pattern means the urine has soaked into the foundation, where warmth brings the odour back out and where sprays cannot reach. Immersion lifts the deposit clear, enzymes break down what causes the smell, and controlled drying ends the cycle. If the dye beneath is damaged, you see it at the assessment.
Do you collect from Beerwah, Mooloolah Valley and Glenview as well?
All three are on the same hinterland day, along with Peachester and Beerburrum. Neighbours sending rugs together is entirely fine and changes nothing except that each rug after the first has $20 off applied to it.
Is there a faster option if we need it back sooner?
Yes. Standard turnaround is about seven days from collection to return, and a 48 hour express service is available at additional cost. The drying is not shortened in either case, because a rug returned with moisture still in its base will smell again within a fortnight.
