Two suburbs sharing one name
Bundall is the central Gold Coast's working quarter: 3.9 square kilometres in the crook of the Nerang, holding the city's office strip, the racecourse and the civic precinct at Evandale, with 4,895 residents recorded at the 2021 census living mostly along the river edges. That combination gives the suburb two personalities and gives us two kinds of customer on the same street. On the water there are homes with big tiled rooms and serious rugs, designer wool and silk pieces chosen for the space. On Bundall Road there are offices, showrooms and studios with reception rugs, boardroom pieces and entrance matting that get walked on all day and thought about almost never. The same van collects both, and the same wash floor handles both, because the process a good rug needs does not change according to who signs the invoice.

Bundall sits low in the bend of the Nerang, with river water on two sides and canal estates behind it. Summer humidity settles over that low ground and stays there, and salt drifts up the river on the sea breeze even this far from the surf. Then the office half of the suburb adds a second cycle on top: air conditioned days that pull moisture out of a rug, and humid nights with the system off that put it straight back. Wool does not enjoy being swung between those two states for months at a time. Stain Removal
Coffee across a reception rug on a Monday morning, red wine at home on a Saturday, toner from a printer trolley. The fibre is identified before any product is chosen.
One wrong chemical sets a mark permanently and can pull the dye with it. We swab, then treat, then say which marks will lift and which will only fade. In an office that answer needs to arrive before the next client walks in, so it comes at the inspection.

Pet Stain and Odour
Dogs on the river lawns come in with wet feet, and accidents find the rug. Urine passes through the pile into the backing, out of reach of anything sprayed.
At home the humidity undoes a surface treatment. In an office it waits until the air conditioning goes off for the weekend and then announces itself on Monday. Either way the fix is one thing: the residue comes out of the foundation in the bath, enzymes clear the fibre, and the piece dries completely.

Odour Removal

Rug Moth Treatment
Moth grubs work the undisturbed parts of a wool rug, under a boardroom table or a home sideboard, and the loss is months old before it shows.

Cane paddocks, a bought farm and a church built on a promise
The city's front office started out as riverbank farmland.
Racing on this ground began with picnic meetings in the 1890s cane.
Race week households and the businesses around the stables both run their rugs hard. We collect from the streets near the course on every central loop, entrance matting included.
The first races at Bundall were occasional public meetings run in the old cane paddocks in the 1890s, not far from where the grandstands sit today. Regular racing arrived on 15 May 1946, on a sand track under a club then carrying Southport's name, and the course has run ever since. In January 1986 the club introduced the Magic Millions race meeting, now the fixture that fills the suburb every summer, and the track hosts roughly sixty meetings a year.
The council bought a riverside farm in the 1960s and has run the city from it since 1976.
Bundall is where the Gold Coast does its paperwork, and the district's working rugs get handled accordingly: collections scheduled around office hours, and the rug back in about a week.
In the 1960s the Gold Coast's council bought farmland at Evandale, on Bundall's river bend, to build a civic centre worthy of the growing city. Its first administration building opened there on 11 September 1976, and the city's government has worked from the site ever since, with chambers and offices added over the decades. The same riverbank now also carries the city's arts precinct.
The Greek Orthodox parish founded in 1965, with a church built on donated land.
Migrant households keep some of the finest hand made rugs on the Coast, many of them carried from the old country. Those are washed by hand at Yatala with the care their history has earned.
Gold Coast Greek families founded the St Anna community in 1965, and in 1978 the first St Anna Greek Orthodox Church was built on land donated by businessman Peter Vaggelas, honouring a pledge his wife Betty had made to the saint. It remains one of the central Gold Coast's quieter landmarks: a congregation that predates most of the towers on the skyline, still gathering a short walk from the office strip.

Can you collect a reception rug during business hours?
Yes. Bundall Road is on our central loop every run day, so a collection window is booked around your trading hours and the driver takes the rolled rug from the counter. Delivery is arranged the same way, and there is no surcharge for working around an office schedule.
What does a rug wash cost?
Size, fibre and condition set it, so a figure only exists once somebody has looked at the rug. After that it is fixed. Both journeys are covered on the loop, and any rug after the first on the same visit takes $20 off, which usually suits an office sending several pieces at once.
Our foyer cannot be bare for a week. What are the options?
The standard turnaround is about 7 days door to door, and the 48 hour express service is available at additional cost when a floor genuinely cannot be left empty. It is also worth staging a multi rug job so the busiest piece goes first and the others follow on the next run.
A dog urinated on the wool rug at home. Does the smell come out?
Yes, because the treatment reaches the source. Urine soaks past the pile into the backing, so sprays hold it down only between humid spells, and an air conditioned house hands it straight back the first weekend the system is off. Submerging the rug clears the residue from the foundation and enzymes deal with what the fibre kept.
Do you collect from Surfers Paradise, Benowa and Chevron Island too?
Yes. One scheduled day covers the river bend, taking in Surfers Paradise, Benowa, Chevron Island, the Isle of Capri and Broadbeach Waters, so a business with rugs in more than one address can put them all on the same collection.
Is an entrance mat even worth washing?
Usually more than people expect. Entrance pieces take the most traffic and the most grit in the building, and almost all of that load sits in the foundation where a vacuum never reaches. A full bath brings back both the colour and the feel underfoot, and if a mat really is finished you will be told that instead.
