An honest quote for Ashmore households
On a rug somebody has owned for decades, the first duty is a straight verdict rather than a sale. We give that verdict first, then the figure, and the figure holds.

Rug washing Ashmore, on a suburb that did not move on
The most central address on the coast that is not on water
Ashmore is 6.8 square kilometres of established suburbia only 4.9 kilometres from Southport and 5.0 from Surfers Paradise, which makes it about the most central address on the Gold Coast without a waterfront. The Nerang River bends along its southwestern boundary, Southport-Nerang Road runs the northern edge and the M1 the western one. There were 11,586 residents at the 2011 census, 11,910 in 2016 and 12,415 in 2021. The name is recorded as coming from a former farm property near neighbouring Benowa, and the record does not extend much beyond that. What defines the place is not the location, though. It is how long people stay.
Fifty years of first houses, and a good number of first owners. The rugs have been in the same rooms nearly as long.
Built by the seventies and eighties, kept ever since
Two decades built Ashmore almost whole: generous brick homes on flat family blocks, over 83 per cent of the housing detached or townhouses, three retirement villages, and a scatter of renovated originals. Long tenure is the suburb's signature, and it shows in what arrives on our wash floor. The rugs skew older and better than the coast average, wool pieces bought decades ago and minded properly, sitting alongside the family synthetics of younger households moving in as the first generation downsizes. Those two groups ask us very different questions, and the older one usually wants a verdict before it wants a price. The three retirement villages add a third pattern again, with unit-sized pieces on smaller floors that have often moved house with their owners more than once. Village collections work the same way as any other on this loop, at your own door or the village entrance if management prefers it.
River-flat air with nothing to move it along
Ashmore is river-flat country without any sea frontage, and that combination has a specific effect. Summer humidity pools between the hills and the coast, the Nerang River margin keeps ground moisture up all year, and there is no salt breeze reaching this far inland to push the air along. Still, damp warmth is what keeps everything in a rug active rather than letting it dry out and go quiet. Spills stay chemically busy, an old pet accident reasserts itself every February, and mould gets going under a sideboard that has not been moved in years, all of it below the pile surface where nobody looks and nothing reaches. On a rug that has been in one room since the 1980s, that is a lot of accumulated seasons. An immersion wash at our Yatala facility strips the problem out of the foundation, and the controlled drying room afterwards returns the piece genuinely dry, which no laundry or shaded backyard in this suburb has ever managed in a humid week.

Where an Ashmore rug goes
None of that travel is yours. Ashmore anchors the inland end of the northern loop and pairs with the Southport and Parkwood stops, so both trips ride the same day.
A seventies development, two campuses, and a river out of sight
A suburb built quickly and then kept for fifty years.
The Ashmore Village estates of the 1970s became an officially named suburb on 1 December 1982.
A suburb fifty years into its first houses is deep into inherited-rug country, and honest assessment of older wool is exactly what our facility was set up to do.
Ashmore is largely a 1970s idea executed on old farm country. Property developer Jim Donellon drove the Ashmore Village development through that decade, the Ashmore Plaza shopping centre was trading by the late 1970s, and Ashmore State School opened on 23 January 1978 to catch the first wave of children. The paperwork caught up on 1 December 1982, when Ashmore was officially bounded and named, taking its name from a former farm property near neighbouring Benowa. Bellevue Park State School followed on 24 January 1983 as the streets kept filling.
A primary school of 1981 and a college of 1987 merged in 2002 into one school across two Ashmore campuses.
Two campuses, one standard is a structure we recognise. One facility at Yatala, one process for every rug, whichever suburb the driver collected it from that morning.
Trinity Lutheran Primary School opened on Cotlew Street on 27 January 1981, and its success brought a secondary college on 28 January 1987. In 2002 the two amalgamated into a single school run across both Ashmore sites, with the junior years on Cotlew Street and the senior campus on Ashmore Road, teaching over a thousand students. Between Trinity, the two state primaries and the TAFE campus at the Benowa Road corner, a suburb with no government high school of its own still does most of its educating inside its own boundary.
The Nerang River runs Ashmore's southwestern boundary, mostly behind private backyards.
River-flat humidity works on a rug whether or not anyone can see the water. Immersion washing and a controlled dry deal with what that damp leaves at the base of a pile.
Ashmore has a river most visitors never notice. The Nerang bends along the suburb's southwestern edge, but the frontage went to private blocks decades ago, leaving just a couple of small parks where the public can actually stand at the water. Before the estates this was plantation and farm country on the river flats, and the pre-clearing blackbutt forest that covered it is now listed as an endangered ecosystem, surviving only in remnants. The river is still there doing its work; the suburb simply grew to face the other way.

Ashmore questions, answered straight
Our rug is forty years old. Will washing actually help it?
Usually more than people expect, but not always, and we tell you which before quoting. Most of what makes a long-owned rug look tired is soil packed at the foundation rather than lost pile. Where the pile really has gone, we say so, because a wash cannot put back what has worn away.
What does rug cleaning in Ashmore cost?
The rug sets the figure. We read size, fibre and condition on our own floor, quote once from that, and the number holds afterwards with the collection and return inside it. On older pieces the verdict on whether the work is worthwhile comes before the figure does.
Will an old rug be damaged by being put in water?
Not if it should not be. A swab is taken first, and where the dyes move the rug never goes near water at all, being worked in sections with low moisture compounds instead. Choosing that route is a decision we make openly and explain, not a quiet substitution.
There is an old pet accident that comes back every summer. Why?
Because it crystallised in the backing years ago and humid air keeps reactivating it, while anything applied to the pile leaves it entirely untouched. Immersion reaches that layer, an enzyme stage breaks the residue down, and complete drying stops the annual reappearance.
Do you also collect from Southport, Parkwood and Molendinar?
Yes, along with Benowa and Arundel. Ashmore anchors the inland end of the same loop, so more than one address goes into a single load on the day, and every rug after the first is $20 off.
Can you collect from a retirement village unit?
Yes, we do them constantly on this loop. Collection is at your own door, or at the village entrance where management would rather it happened that way, and the return follows whichever arrangement was used. You are not asked to carry anything at any point in the process.
