A clear quote for chosen city rugs
A rug picked deliberately deserves to be priced properly. It is read on the bench, quoted once, and the figure does not shift between collection and delivery.

Rug washing Stones Corner cannot do at home
Six hundred metres square, and back on the map
Stones Corner is a pocket suburb of just 0.6 square kilometres about 5.7 kilometres south-south-east of the city centre, centred on the junction of Logan Road and Old Cleveland Road, with 2,336 residents at the 2021 census. It has led two lives on the map: absorbed into Greenslopes in 1975, then officially restored as a suburb in its own right in November 2017. It also sits at the inner-city end of this run, and pretending otherwise would be silly. Our southside route simply starts near town, which means collections here are scheduled with the whole day's driving in mind rather than squeezed in.
There is no yard, no line and nowhere to lay a rug flat. That is the entire reason a driver exists.
Apartments, cottages and rugs chosen on purpose
The housing is apartments and unit blocks along the ridgelines, with workers' cottages and renovated timber homes in the side streets, and one of the inner south's youngest populations living in all of it. The rugs match. These are chosen pieces rather than inherited defaults: designer wool sized for a unit, flatweaves and kilims picked up from the strip's shopfronts, the occasional Persian that came with a grandparent's estate into a renovated cottage. Small-space living then concentrates every bit of traffic onto them. One rug in a two-bedroom apartment absorbs what three or four rugs would share in a suburban house, and it does it on a concrete slab with no air underneath.
Slabs, still air and a humid city
Apartment living is genuinely hard on rugs in this climate. Airflow is limited, windows stay shut through the worst of the humidity, and a rug lying on a slab never gets the chance to dry out from below. Moisture from a whole wet season accumulates in the base of the pile with the soil already sitting there, and by May the rug smells faintly of February. Cleaning it at home is close to impossible: there is nowhere to lay it flat, nowhere to dry it, and a wet rug on a balcony is a mildew experiment. A complete bath on our Yatala floor handles the whole thing, and the controlled drying means it goes back onto that slab genuinely dry.
There is a practical detail specific to unit living. Anything we collect from a building has to come back out through the door it went in, and rugs sized for apartments almost always do, but the occasional oversized piece bought for a larger home and carried into a smaller one can be awkward. Tell us the access when you book, lift or stairs, and the driver plans for it instead of discovering it on the day.

A refused licence, a rebuilt grandstand, and a creek let back out
A suburb this small has no business having this much history.
Refused a hotel licence in the 1870s, Stone sold ginger beer instead.
Stone made the best of an honest setback, which is roughly our trade too. We are straight about what a wash can achieve and what it cannot, then do the work properly at Yatala.
James Stone bought the triangle of land on the south-east of the Logan Road and Old Cleveland Road junction in 1875. He wanted to run a hotel, but the licence was refused, so he brewed and sold ginger beer on the spot instead, and the junction became known as Stone's Corner. The corner got its pub anyway in 1888, today's Stones Corner Hotel, and the name Stone earned with soft drink has outlasted every business since.
The home ground of Brisbane Tigers rugby league, rebuilt in 2023.
Game-day households are hard on floors. We collect rugs from the streets around the ground on the southside run, and the driver lifts the rolled rug at your door.
Langlands Park keeps the name of the old Langlands estate whose grounds it once was, held back as a sporting reserve when the land was cut up. It housed Eastern Suburbs cricket before becoming the home of the Easts Leagues club, today's Brisbane Tigers rugby league side, who play Queensland Cup football here; the ground has also hosted Brisbane Broncos women's fixtures. The 1999 clubhouse and grandstand gave it a 3,500 capacity, and a 10.2 million dollar redevelopment completed in early 2023 rebuilt the grandstand for the Tigers' second century.
The concrete drain became a living waterway again in 2022.
Restoring something so it works the way it should is our whole trade. A proper immersion wash undoes years of walked-in city grime and the rug comes back completely dry.
Hanlon Park, known by its Yuggera name Bur'uda, reopened in 2022 after the concrete stormwater channel through its middle was dug out and rebuilt as a natural creek line with pools, plantings and crossings, 5.2 hectares of parkland where the water runs in the open again. It has quickly become the pocket suburb's backyard, and one of the inner south's best examples of undoing old engineering rather than adding more.

Stones Corner questions about small-space rugs
How much does rug cleaning in Stones Corner cost?
Size, weave and condition set the price between them, so the rug is read before any figure exists. The quote is then fixed. Collection and return are part of the job at this end of the run, and a rug that would not benefit is flagged before it is booked.
We live in an apartment with no yard. How does collection work?
Our driver comes to the door, lift or stairs, rolls the rug there and takes it away. Nothing needs to happen in your unit beyond moving the coffee table. It comes back the same way, dry through the base, so it goes straight back down onto the floor.
Can a flatweave or kilim be washed safely?
Yes, with the right handling. Flatweaves have no pile to hide behind, so they are washed with less agitation and dried flat rather than hung, which is what stops the weave distorting. It is slower work than a plush pile and the difference is visible in the finished piece.
Is there a quicker option than about a week?
There is. 48-hour express handling can be booked at an additional charge when a move or an inspection will not wait. The usual timeline runs about 7 days, and drying is never rushed, because a rug going onto a slab has to be genuinely dry.
Our cat has urinated on the one rug in the apartment. Can that be fixed?
Yes. Urine travels well past the pile and lodges in the backing, and in a small home with limited airflow that smell becomes the smell of the whole place. A full soak washes the residue away and the enzyme stage deals with the rest, then full drying stops it returning once the humidity climbs again.
Do you also collect from Greenslopes, Annerley and Coorparoo?
Yes, along with Holland Park, Fairfield and Tarragindi on the same day's driving. Friends or family nearby can share a collection, and a $20 saving on each extra rug is worth knowing about if two units in the same block are due.
