An honest figure for every tradition of rug
Value matters here and so does trust: the rug is read properly, one figure is named, and if a wash is not worth it, we say exactly that.

Rug cleaning for the south-west's busiest homes
Solid houses, hard floors, working rugs
Inala covers 6.3 square kilometres about 22 kilometres by road south-west of the Brisbane GPO, with a 2021 population of 15,273 that ranks near the top of the city's south-west. The original Housing Commission stock is everywhere and it was built to last: houses on raised concrete foundations with poured slabs around 18 centimetres thick and hardwood frames, now interleaved with renovations, rebuilds and newer infill. Hard floors dominate, timber and tile both, so rugs do real work in most living rooms, and the households are big and often multigenerational, mixing practical everyday rugs with special-occasion pieces brought from overseas or handed down. Premier Rug Cleaning reads and washes every kind, and has for 29 years. Reading the rug correctly is the foundation of the whole service, and in this suburb the reading matters more than anywhere.
Every tradition of rug crosses our wash floor, and every one is read before it is washed.
From Serviceton to Inala
In May 1946, a meeting of ex-servicemen at a Brisbane RSL Hall, led by Harold Davis, formed the Serviceton Co-operative Society to build homes for returned soldiers, buying 480 hectares of farmland and allotting 800 square metres to each shareholder. The Queensland Housing Commission acquired around 850 acres in 1949 and 1950 and carried the plan to scale, and on 10 January 1952 the growing settlement was named Inala, a Bundjalung word meaning resting time or night time. The Serviceton name was retired in 1953 to end postal confusion with a Victorian namesake, though it survives in local institutions to this day. The town was designed around its own centre from the start, and the Civic Centre on Inala Avenue has been the district's meeting point ever since, now best known as the heart of Queensland's largest Vietnamese Australian community, recorded at the 2016 census at 4,446 people and 30 per cent of the suburb. The centre still holds, daily.
Flat heat, full houses, patient grime
The south-west flats hold summer heat and humidity longer than the breezier suburbs nearer the bay, and a busy multigenerational home gives its rug no rest days at all. Cooking, kids, guests and humid air work grime deep into the pile, evenly enough that the change sneaks up on the whole household at once. Surface cleaning recovers none of it, because none of it is on the surface. One appointment at the tubs clears every layer, the accumulation exits with the rinse water, and custody ends when the piece reads dry throughout, ready for a household that will re-employ it immediately. The loop keeps the rhythm weekly.

A co-operative, a centre and a school
A suburb built on purpose, and proud of it.
Returned soldiers founded a housing co-operative here in 1946.
A suburb founded on the idea that ordinary families deserve solid homes sits well with us. The rugs in those homes get the same respect: honest assessment, a proper hand wash, no shortcuts.

Planned into the satellite town from the start, now the district's heart.
The households around the Civic Centre keep rugs from many traditions, and we wash all of them by hand at the correct pH, from everyday synthetics to hand-knotted pieces that crossed an ocean.
Inala was designed around its own centre: the Housing Commission's 1955-56 report described a satellite town of 3,700 housing lots with a civic centre and eight subsidiary shopping areas, and the Civic Centre on Inala Avenue has been the district's meeting point ever since, with the library serving since 1963. Today it is best known as the heart of Queensland's largest Vietnamese Australian community, recorded at the 2016 census at 4,446 people and 30 per cent of the suburb, drawing food and market visitors from across Brisbane.
The satellite town's first state school opened in July 1955.
Schools this established mean families this established, and their rugs serve accordingly. A piece carrying twenty years of household life comes back from the tubs remembering year one.
Inala State School opened on 1 July 1955, while the Housing Commission estate was still being built around it, and the suburb's classrooms have tracked its growth ever since: Serviceton South State School followed in September 1963, its name preserving the founding story. Between them the schools have taught several generations of the same families.

Inala rug questions, straight answers
What decides the price of a wash?
The inspection sets it: size, fibre, dye behaviour and condition produce one figure that holds. The corridor loop covers collection and return, and where a wash would not serve a particular piece, we say so plainly and decline the job.
Can you wash a hand-knotted rug that came from overseas?
Yes, and reading it correctly is the whole point. Origin, fibre and dye behaviour are assessed first, the bath is set to the chemistry the piece requires, and every stage happens by hand. Pieces like these are why the assessment always comes before the quote.
The family pet has had accidents on the main rug for months. Fixable?
Almost always, and far below the cost of replacing. The residue has reached the foundation, defeating every spray, so the bath cleans that depth, enzymes neutralise what remains, and drying confiscates the humid-day trigger. Whatever the dyes have done is walked through with you at assessment.
Do Durack and Richlands share Inala's pickup day?
Yes, the corridor loop gathers the district on one day. Extended households merge bookings as a matter of course, and beyond the booking's first rug, each one arrives $20 off.
Our special-occasion rug only comes out a few times a year. Does it need washing?
Stored rugs need different care, not less. Storage risks moth and mould, and the assessment checks for both before anything else. A wash before long storage, with the storage advice we send home, is the best protection a special piece can have between occasions.
Can a rug be ready in time for a family celebration?
About a week covers the standard journey. Celebration dates can lean on the 48-hour express, separately priced, and either speed delivers the same ending: groomed, dry in every layer, ready for the occasion.
