Why Jute Needs a Different Approach
Jute is a natural plant fibre, and that changes everything about how you treat a stain. If a stain remains, lightly dab (don’t saturate) with a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water, or a tiny amount of mild dish soap diluted in water. Club soda works well on red wine or tomato. Whatever you use, apply it sparingly to the cloth rather than pouring it on the rug. Finish by blotting dry and helping the rug air out — a fan, open window or dehumidifier all speed drying and prevent the dreaded brown watermark from forming.
