From your front door to our Yatala facility and safely back again. This is the real process, not a quick spray.
Why so many Sunshine Coast wool rugs come back worse
Most people find us after being burned. They tell us the same thing: "the last two carpet cleaners left water stains," or that a steam clean "did freshen the rug" but never actually got it clean. A generic wand treats your wool like wall-to-wall carpet, so it comes back stiff, marked or smelling sour days later as old residue wicks up. And after a humid Sunshine Coast wet season or a stint rolled up in storage, that deep musty smell sits in the pile and backing where surface steam simply cannot reach it.
A carpet cleaner with a van can ruin a fine rug
One-size-fits-all carpet machines are the number one cause of rug damage. Here is exactly what goes wrong.

Specialist care, not a quick spray
Your rug is collected and brought to our dedicated washing facility, where it is hand-assessed and cleaned by fibre, then dried under control. A deep, safe clean that protects the rug you love, backed by 29 years and a 7-day free re-wash guarantee.
Built to protect your rug
We wash rugs only, never carpets, and never in a van or on your floor. Your wool rug is fully submerged and hand-washed at our dedicated Yatala facility, treated like the family piece it is, not run over with a machine.
We hand-wash in cool soft water, never the hot steam that felts wool, with non-toxic pet and child safe products that protect the natural lanolin. Then we dry under controlled conditions so it comes back fresh and soft underfoot, never damp.
Our IICRC-certified technicians run a dye and colour-fastness test before any water touches the rug, so reds and dark dyes hold and the colour comes back even, not bled or faded.
We collect the heavy, awkward rug from your door for free and tag it at pickup, so you get your exact rug back with a clear chain of custody, fully insured the entire time it is in our care.

Common questions
What is the best way to clean a wool rug?
A genuine full-immersion hand-wash, not a steam wand. We fully submerge the rug in cool soft water with wool-safe products, gently lift out grit and odour by hand, then dry it under controlled conditions. That is the method built for wool, which is exactly why we never run a carpet-cleaning machine over the top of a wool rug.
Will water ruin a wool rug?
Water itself will not ruin wool when it is washed the right way. The damage comes from hot, high-pressure steam and harsh carpet detergent, which can shrink and felt the fibres, strip the softness and leave water stains. That is why people search for a specialist after a generic cleaner. Our cool-water immersion wash and proper controlled drying are a completely different, fibre-correct process.
What are the common mistakes when cleaning wool rugs?
The big ones are hot water that shrinks and felts the weave, scrubbing that frays the pile and pushes stains deeper, harsh detergent that strips the natural lanolin, and leaving the rug damp so it stays musty or browns. DIY spot-cleaning that sets a mark is another. We avoid every one of these: cool soft water, gentle hand-washing, wool-safe products and fast controlled drying.
What are the disadvantages of a wool rug?
Wool sheds a little when new, holds onto fine grit and allergens deep in the pile, and is sensitive to heat and harsh chemicals, so the wrong clean can felt or mark it. The upside is that a proper hand-wash solves the downsides: it flushes out the trapped grit and dust and restores the soft, even feel, while protecting the lanolin that makes wool naturally resilient.
My wool rug is valuable. How do I know it is safe off-site?
Your rug is cleaned at our dedicated Yatala facility, not an unknown warehouse, and it is inspected, tagged and recorded at pickup so it is tracked from collection to return and you get your exact rug back. We have specialised in rugs only for 29 years, our technicians are IICRC-certified, and we are fully insured the whole time. You get an honest assessment up front before any work begins.
