From your front door to our Yatala facility and safely back again. This is the real process, not a quick spray.
The last two carpet cleaners left water stains
You did not want your wool rug treated like an ordinary carpet, but that is exactly what happens. A van pulls up, runs a hot steam wand over the surface and calls it done. Then you are left hunting for someone who actually specialises in wool because the last lot left water stains, a rough gritty pile and a smell that came back. People tell us the same story: the rug looked clean from a distance but still felt grey underfoot, and they were nervous about sending a sentimental Persian or Afghan rug to just anyone after being burned once.
A carpet cleaner with a van can ruin a fine rug
One-size-fits-all carpet machines are the number one cause of rug damage. Here is exactly what goes wrong.

Specialist care, not a quick spray
Your rug is collected and brought to our dedicated washing facility, where it is hand-assessed and cleaned by fibre, then dried under control. A deep, safe clean that protects the rug you love, backed by 29 years and a 7-day free re-wash guarantee.
Built to protect your rug
We do not clean carpets. For 29 years we have washed rugs and nothing else, so your wool rug is handled by people who know lanolin, knots and weaves, not a broadloom crew with a wand.
We dust to lift buried grit, dye-test for colour-fastness, then hand-wash by full immersion in controlled cool-to-warm water with fibre-safe products. Never hot extraction, never a beater bar, so wool keeps its lanolin and never felts or shrinks.
We collect and return the heavy rug for free across the Gold Coast and dry it under controlled conditions, the separate step most people worry about, so it comes back lying flat and fresh with no damp smell.
Your rug is tagged and inspected at pickup, handled only by IICRC-certified technicians, fully insured the whole time and returned to you, the same rug, backed by a 7-day free re-wash.
7 careful stages, all 15 steps
No shortcuts and no guessing. Your rug moves through the same specialist system every time, from your front door and safely back again.
Standard turnaround 7 days door to door, or 48-hour service on request.

Common questions
What is the best way to clean a wool rug?
A full immersion hand-wash in controlled cool-to-warm water with wool-safe, pH-balanced products, the way we do it at our Yatala facility. We never use hot-water extraction or a steam wand because heat shrinks and felts wool. Your rug is first dusted to lift buried grit, then dye-tested, washed by immersion, rinsed clean and dried under controlled conditions, so it comes back soft underfoot, fresh and lying flat rather than just freshened on the surface.
Will water ruin a wool rug?
Hot water can, which is exactly why a steam wand is the wrong tool: heat and agitation shrink and felt wool and strip its natural lanolin. Controlled cool-to-warm water in a proper immersion wash does not ruin wool, it is the safe way to clean it. Before any wash we run dye and colour-fastness testing so reds and dark dyes stay put instead of bleeding into cream grounds, then we dry under control so the rug never returns musty.
What are the common mistakes when cleaning wool rugs?
The big ones are hot water, harsh detergent, scrubbing and a beater bar, which is how generic carpet cleaners leave wool shrunken, felted, faded or water-stained. DIY spot-cleaning that sets a mark is another, and the worst is letting a wool rug stay damp, which locks in a musty smell. We avoid all of it: gentle dusting, a dye test, cool-water immersion with fibre-correct products, and controlled drying every time.
What are the disadvantages of a wool rug?
Wool is wonderful to live with but it does need respect: it holds fine grit deep in the pile, it can shed a little when new, and it is genuinely damaged by hot water, harsh chemicals and aggressive scrubbing. That is the trade-off for its softness and decades of life. Cleaned properly by a specialist every year or two, a quality wool rug easily outlasts the carpet around it, which is why the right wash matters.
Do I have to lug the rug in, and how long am I without it?
No lugging. Free door-to-door pickup and delivery is included; our van collects from anywhere on the Gold Coast on its set day for your area, so you never move the heavy rug yourself. Standard turnaround is about 7 days door to door, with a 48-hour service on request. It comes back fully dried and ready to lay straight down, safe for pets and kids. Call 1800 655 949 to book.
