From your front door to our Yatala facility and safely back again. This is the real process, not a quick spray.
Why the musty smell keeps coming back
Mould in a rug is almost never just a surface stain. By the time you can smell that damp, stale mustiness, or see a shadow of mildew along the backing after a humid spell or a leak under the door, the spores have usually worked down into the foundation where a wipe, a spray or a quick steam over the top cannot reach. So many people on the Sunshine Coast tell us the same story: a 50/50 hot water and vinegar mix, baking soda and a day in the sun, or a clean once or even twice, and within weeks the smell was back. The surface was treated, but the living growth and the trapped damp underneath survived and grew straight back. Surface methods also drive water deeper into the pile, which is the very thing mould needs to keep regrowing.
A carpet cleaner with a van can ruin a fine rug
One-size-fits-all carpet machines are the number one cause of rug damage. Here is exactly what goes wrong.

Specialist care, not a quick spray
Your rug is collected and brought to our dedicated washing facility, where it is hand-assessed and cleaned by fibre, then dried under control. A deep, safe clean that protects the rug you love, backed by 29 years and a free re-wash guarantee.
Built to protect your rug
Most operators steam the surface from a truck-mounted unit; we submerge and hand-wash your rug at our Yatala facility so spores are flushed out of the foundation, not steamed on the face where the roots survive. This is the real answer to will it just come back.
The smell almost always returns because a rug went home damp in the backing. It is the one thing happy customers credit us for: we dry rugs properly under controlled conditions, so yours comes back dry and ready to lay down, no damp smell.
Most mould specialists make you cart the rug to them. A heavy, contaminated rug is too bulky for the car and you do not want it inside it, so we collect it free and the spores leave your home with us rather than sitting another week.
Colour and dye tested first, hand-washed by IICRC-certified technicians using non-toxic products safe around children and pets. We tell you honestly up front whether yours can be saved. Fully insured, with a free re-wash guarantee.

Common questions
Can a mouldy rug be saved?
Often yes, and the only way to know is an inspection. Our IICRC-certified technicians check whether the foundation is still sound or whether dry rot has set in. If it is genuinely recoverable we tell you, and if it is past saving we tell you that too, so you never pay for a wash that was never going to hold. You get that honest answer before any work starts, and we will be upfront if a couple of old marks may stay.
What kills mould in rugs?
Not vinegar, baking soda or shop sprays. Those only touch the surface, so it grows straight back from the backing where the roots and trapped damp survive. We flush the spores out of the foundation with a full immersion hand-wash, then dry the rug right through under controlled conditions so there is no damp left for mould to regrow in. That combination, backed by our free re-wash guarantee, is what actually stops it returning.
Can you get mould out of a rug for good?
Yes, when it is flushed from the foundation and then dried properly rather than freshened on top. We immerse and hand-wash the rug to remove the growth at the source, then dry it under controlled conditions so it comes back dry and ready to lay down. Because the damp is gone, the musty smell goes with it. Surface methods leave moisture behind, which is exactly why DIY and a quick steam keep failing.
Is rug mould dangerous, and is it safe once it comes home?
Mould spores can irritate noses, eyes and airways, and the risk is higher for babies, asthmatics and the elderly, so it is worth dealing with rather than living alongside. No scare tactics. We take the rug off-site so the spores leave your home rather than spreading through it, treat it with non-toxic products safe around children and pets, and return it genuinely safe to put back where your family lives.
How common is mould under a rug, and what causes it?
Very common in South East QLD. Our humidity, summer storms and heavy rain mean mould is usually a moisture event: a leak under a door, a damp slab, water during a storm, or a rug stored rolled up too long. That is why surface sprays fail; the cause is trapped damp in the backing. We remove the growth and, just as importantly, dry the rug right through so the conditions mould needs are gone.
